A Bíblia trata a sexualidade como um presente de Deus para o contexto do casamento. As Escrituras celebram a intimidade conjugal e orientam sobre pureza e santidade sexual.
A sexualidade no plano de Deus
Desde a criação, Deus projetou a intimidade sexual como expressão de amor entre marido e mulher, abençoando a união conjugal.
4 And he answering said to them, 'Did you not read, that He who madethem, from the beginning a male and a female made them,5 and said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and they shall be -- the two -- for one flesh?6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh; what therefore God did join together, let no man put asunder.'
A santidade na intimidade
O leito conjugal é honroso. A Bíblia celebra a alegria da intimidade dentro do casamento e orienta o casal ao amor e respeito mútuo.
4 honourable is the marriage in all, and the bed undefiled, and whoremongers and adulterers God shall judge.
3 to the wife let the husband the due benevolence render, and in like manner also the wife to the husband;4 the wife over her own body has not authority, but the husband; and, in like manner also, the husband over his own body has not authority, but the wife.
9 and if they have not continence -- let them marry, for it is better to marry than to burn;
15 Have you not known that your bodies are members of Christ? having taken, then, the members of the Christ, shall I make them members of an harlot? let it be not!16 have you not known that he who is joined to the harlot is one body? 'for they shall be -- says He -- the two for one flesh.'17 And he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit;
Pureza sexual
Deus nos chama à santificação e à fuga da imoralidade. O corpo do cristão é templo do Espírito Santo e deve ser tratado com honra.
18 flee the whoredom; every sin -- whatever a man may commit -- is without the body, and he who is committing whoredom, against his own body does sin.19 Have you not known that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit in you, which you have from God? and you are not your own,20 for you were bought with a price; glorify, then, God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
3 for this is the will of God -- your sanctification; that you abstain from the whoredom,4 that each of you know his own vessel to possess in sanctification and honour,5 not in the affection of desire, as also the nations that were not knowing God,
3 and whoredom sexual immorality, and all uncleanness impurity, or covetousness desire to always have more, greediness, let it not even be named among you, as becomes saints;
28 but I -- I say to you, that every one who is looking on a woman to desire her, did already commit adultery with her in his heart.
13 as in day-time, let us walk becomingly; not in revellings and drunkennesses, not in chamberings and lasciviousnesses, not in strife and emulation;
22 professing to be wise, they were made fools,23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of fowls, and of quadrupeds, and of reptiles.24 Therefore also God did give them up, in the desires of their hearts, to uncleanness, to dishonour their bodies among themselves;25 who did change the truth of God into a falsehood, and did honour and serve the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed to the ages. Amen.26 Because of this did God give them up to dishonorable affections, for even their females did change the natural use into that against nature;27 and in like manner also the males having left the natural use of the female, did burn in their longing toward one another; males with males working shame, and the recompense of their error that was fit, in themselves receiving.
