Temor dos homens
Preocupar-se demais com a opinião dos outros ou ceder à pressão de quem está ao redor é uma das formas mais comuns de perder a paz. Quando a aprovação alheia importa mais do que a obediência a Deus, a coragem desaparece e a caminhada cristã fica pesada.
As Escrituras tratam dessa vulnerabilidade humana com muita franqueza. Em vez de ignorar o medo que você sente diante de figuras de autoridade ou de situações difíceis, a Palavra de Deus aponta para uma direção diferente, lembrando quem realmente governa a história e merece o seu respeito profundo.
O temor dos homens é uma armadilha que paralisa a fé. A Bíblia nos convida a trocar o medo humano pela confiança em Deus, que é nosso refúgio e escudo.
Não temas os homens
Deus é a nossa luz e salvação — de quem teremos medo? A Escritura nos encoraja a não temer aqueles que podem destruir o corpo, mas não a alma.
A Psalme of David. The Lord is my light and my saluation, whom shall I feare? the Lord is the strength of my life, of whome shall I be afraide?(Psalms 27:1)
When the wicked, euen mine enemies and my foes came vpon mee to eate vp my flesh; they stumbled and fell. Though an hoste pitched against me, mine heart should not be afraide: though warre be raised against me, I will trust in this.(Psalms 27:2,3)
And feare yee not them which kill the bodie, but are nor able to kill the soule: but rather feare him, which is able to destroy both soule and bodie in hell.(Matthew 10:28)
And I say vnto you, my friendes, be not afraide of them that kill the bodie, and after that are not able to doe any more. But I wil forewarne you, who ye shall feare: feare him which after hee hath killed, hath power to cast into hell: yea, I say vnto you, him feare.(Luke 12:4,5)
Confiança em Deus acima do medo
Quando tememos a Deus, o medo dos homens perde o poder. O Senhor está conosco, e se Ele é por nós, quem será contra nós?
When I was afrayd, I trusted in thee. I will reioyce in God, because of his word, I trust in God, and will not feare what flesh can doe vnto me.(Psalms 56:3,4)
The Lord is with mee: therefore I will not feare what man can doe vnto me.(Psalms 118:6)
I will not faile thee, neither forsake thee:(Hebrews 13:6)
Ye shall not feare them: for the Lord your God, he shall fight for you.(Deuteronomy 3:22)
And thou sonne of man, feare them not, neither be afraide of their wordes, although rebels, and thornes be with thee, and thou remainest with scorpions: feare not their wordes, nor be afrayde at their lookes, for they are a rebellious house.(Ezekiel 2:6)
