Verdade
A verdade é um dos atributos centrais de Deus e um pilar da vida cristã. Jesus se declarou o caminho, a verdade e a vida. Viver na verdade é viver em liberdade e integridade.
Deus é a fonte da verdade
O Senhor é fiel e verdadeiro em todas as suas palavras. Sua Palavra é a verdade absoluta que ilumina nosso caminho e nos sustenta.
6 Jesus says unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
14 And the Word (o. logos) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
O Espírito da verdade
Jesus prometeu enviar o Espírito Santo, o Espírito da verdade, que nos guia, ensina e nos faz lembrar de tudo o que Cristo disse.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
26 But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit (o. pneuma) of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me:
27 But the anointing which all of you have received of him abides in you, and all of you need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, all of you shall abide in him.
24 God is a Spirit: (o. pneuma) and they that worship him must worship him in spirit (o. pneuma) and in truth.
A verdade liberta
Jesus prometeu que conhecer a verdade nos torna livres. A mentira aprisiona, mas a verdade de Deus nos conduz à plenitude.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If all of you continue in my word, (o. logos) then are all of you my disciples indeed;32 And all of you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
30 I have chosen the way of truth: your judgments have I laid before me.
5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me: for you are the God of my salvation; on you do I wait all the day.
15 Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word (o. logos) of truth.
18 Of his own will brings forth he us with the word (o. logos) of truth, that we should be a kind of first-fruits of his creatures.
Vivendo e falando a verdade
Somos chamados a falar a verdade em amor e a rejeitar toda forma de engano. A integridade nas palavras é marca do cristão.
15 But speaking the truth in love, (o. agape) may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
2 He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart.3 He that backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbour, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbour.
13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaks perverseness.
24 Put away from you a perverse mouth, and perverse lips put far from you.
12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest all of you fall into condemnation.
18 My little children, let us not love in word, (o. logos) neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
