3. A amizade com o mundo como inimizade contra Deus
O alerta severo de que adotar os valores e as paixões da sociedade secular afasta o coração da comunhão com o Criador.
Adulterers, know not ye, that the friendship of this world is enemy [or enmity] to God? Therefore whoever will be the friend of this world, is made the enemy of God.(James 4:4)
4. O mandamento para não amar o mundo
A instrução clara de que amar o sistema mundano e suas concupiscências anula o amor do Pai no interior da pessoa.
Do not ye love the world, nor those things that be in the world. If any man loveth the world, the charity of the Father is not in him.
For all thing that is in the world, is covetousness of flesh, and covetousness of eyes, and pride of life, which is not of the Father, but it is of the world.
And the world shall pass, and the covetousness of it; but he that doeth the will of God, dwelleth [into] without end.(1 st John 2:15-17)
5. A separação de jugos desiguais
A orientação para que o povo de Deus não se associe espiritualmente à incredulidade e às práticas das trevas.
Do not ye bear the yoke with unfaithful men. For what parting, [or communing], of rightwiseness with wickedness? or what fellowship of light to darknesses?
and what according of Christ to Belial? or what part of a faithful [man] with the unfaithful, [or heathen]?
and what consent to the temple of God with maumets? [or idols?] And ye be the temple of the living God, as the Lord saith, For I shall dwell in them, and I shall walk among them; and I shall be [the] God of them, and they shall be a people to me.
For which thing go ye out of the middle of them, and be ye separated, saith the Lord, and touch not unclean thing; and I shall receive you,(2 nd Corinthians 6:14-17)
6. A purificação de toda impureza moral
O encorajamento para aperfeiçoar a santidade no temor de Deus, limpando-se de toda contaminação da carne e do espírito.
Therefore, most dearworthy brethren, we that have these promises, cleanse we us from all filth of the flesh and of the spirit, doing holiness in the dread of God.(2 nd Corinthians 7:1)
7. O chamado para sair do meio dos costumes corrompidos
A promessa de que o Senhor acolherá aqueles que decidirem se apartar do pecado e das impurezas espirituais.
Go ye away, go ye away, go ye out from thence; do not ye touch [the] defouled thing, go ye out from the midst thereof; be ye cleansed, that bear the vessels of the Lord.(Isaiah 52:11)
8. A condição de povo exclusivo e consagrado

for thou art an holy people to thy Lord God, and he chose thee that thou be to him into a special people, of all the folks that be upon earth.(Deuteronomy 14:2)
9. A conduta irrepreensível como luz no mundo
A instrução para realizar todas as coisas sem murmurações, tornando-se irrepreensíveis no meio de uma geração perversa.
And do ye all things without grutchings, and doubtings;
that ye be without complaint, and simple as the sons of God, without reproof, in the middle of a shrewd nation and a wayward; among which ye shine as givers of light in the world.(Philippians 2:14,15)
10. A pureza guardada pela Palavra
O testemunho de quem guarda o coração puro por meio da obediência estrita aos preceitos divinos.
[Beth.] In what thing amendeth a young waxing man his way? in keep-ing thy words.(Psalms 119:9)
11. O repúdio às obras infrutíferas da escuridão
A ordem direta para não ter comunhão com as práticas ocultas e infrutíferas das trevas, mas antes condená-las com a luz.
And do not ye commune to unfruiteous works of darknesses; but more rather reprove ye [them].(Ephesians 5:11)
12. A liberdade para viver segundo o Espírito
A garantia de que a graça de Deus capacita o crente a rejeitar a impiedade e a viver de maneira sóbria e justa.
For the grace of God, our Saviour, hath appeared to all men,
and taught us, that we forsake wickedness [or unpiety], and worldly desires, and live soberly, and justly, and piously in this world,(Titus 2:11,12)
