A escravidão do pecado
Jesus responded, "Truly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.
So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.
Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you continue in my word,,you really are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
For freedom, Christ set us free. Stand firm, then, and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey — either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?
Resistência e domínio próprio
O fruto do Espírito inclui o domínio próprio.
envy, , drunkenness, carousing, and anything similar. I am warning you about these things — as I warned you before — that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things.
"Everything is permissible for me," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me," but I will not be mastered by anything.
"Everything is permissible for me," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me," but I will not be mastered by anything.
Instead, I discipline my body and bring it under strict control, so that after preaching to others, I myself will not be disqualified.
No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it.
No temptation has come upon you except what is common to humanity. But God is faithful; he will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to bear it.
Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its desires. And do not offer any parts of it to sin as weapons for unrighteousness. But as those who are alive from the dead, offer yourselves to God, and all the parts of yourselves to God as weapons for righteousness.
For if we have been united with him in the likeness of his death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of his resurrection. For we know that our old self , was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be rendered powerless so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin,
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age,
in order to live the remaining time in the flesh no longer for human desires, but for God’s will. For there has already been enough time spent in doing what the Gentiles choose to do: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. They are surprised that you don’t join them in the same flood of wild living — and they slander you. They will give an account to the one who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason the gospel was also preached to those who are now dead, , so that, although they might be judged in the flesh according to human standards, they might live in the spirit according to God’s standards.
The end of all things is near; therefore, be alert and sober-minded for prayer.
If we say, "We have no sin," we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
The one who conceals his sins
will not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them
will find mercy.
O corpo como templo
Nosso corpo é templo do Espírito Santo.
Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or males who have sex with males, ,no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God’s kingdom. And some of you used to be like this. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:
Wine is a mocker, beer is a brawler;
whoever goes astray because of them is not wise.
Don’t continue drinking only water, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.
For everything in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride in one’s possessions — is not from the Father, but is from the world.
Be sober-minded, be alert. Your adversary the devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.
And do not bring us into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.,
For it is written,
As I live, says the Lord,
every knee will bow to me,
and every tongue will give praise to God.,
So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God.
