Vizinho
Amar o próximo é um dos mandamentos centrais do evangelho. A Bíblia nos ensina que nossos vizinhos são aqueles a quem devemos servir, apoiar e encorajar com amor genuíno.
O mandamento do amor ao próximo
Jesus resume a Lei no amor a Deus e ao próximo. Amar o vizinho como a si mesmo é cumprir toda a Lei.
The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these."
For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
For this, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the Law.
"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
Amor em ação
O amor verdadeiro se mostra em ações concretas: hospitalidade, generosidade e cuidado com os necessitados ao nosso redor.
The Changeless Christ
Let love of the brothers and sisters continue. Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.
Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.
So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we are to love one another;
I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
Edificação e encorajamento mútuo
Somos chamados a encorajar uns aos outros, carregar os fardos alheios e buscar o bem do próximo acima do próprio interesse.
Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you also are doing.
Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification.
No one is to seek his own advantage, but rather that of his neighbor.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor,
and may the Lord cause you to increase and overflow in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you;
Humildade, perdão e convivência
O relacionamento com o próximo exige humildade, paciência e disposição para perdoar. Não devemos julgar, mas acolher com compaixão.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility consider one another as more important than yourselves;
bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so must you do also.
Therefore let’s not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this: not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s or sister’s way.
The Impartiality of God
Therefore you have no excuse, you foolish person, everyone of you who passes judgment; for in that matter in which you judge someone else, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble;
One personvalues one day over another, another values every day the same. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.
"For the despairing man there should be kindness from his friend;
So that he does not abandon the fear of the Almighty.
