1 And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, to Jerusalem.
2 Then David the king stood up on his feet, and said, Hear me, my brothers, and my people: As for me, I had in my heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
3 But God said to me, You shall not build an house for my name, because you have been a man of war, and have shed blood.
4 However, the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he has chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:
5 And of all my sons, (for the LORD has given me many sons,) he has chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.
6 And he said to me, Solomon your son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.
8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that you may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.
9 And you, Solomon my son, know you the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts: if you seek him, he will be found of you; but if you forsake him, he will cast you off for ever.
10 Take heed now; for the LORD has chosen you to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.
11 Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlors thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,
12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:
13 Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.
14 He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:
15 Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick, and for the lamps thereof: and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the candlestick, and also for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candlestick.
16 And by weight he gave gold for the tables of show bread, for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver:
17 Also pure gold for the meat hooks, and the bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basins he gave gold by weight for every basin; and likewise silver by weight for every basin of silver:
18 And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubim, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.
19 All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand on me, even all the works of this pattern.
20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with you; he will not fail you, nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
21 And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with you for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with you for all manner of workmanship every willing skillful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at your commandment.
1 OR Davide adunò in Gerusalemme tutti i capi d’Israele, i capi delle tribù, ed i capitani degli spartimenti che servivano al re, ed anche i capi delle migliaia, e delle centinaia, e quelli che aveano il governo di tutte le facoltà, e del bestiame del re; ed i suoi figliuoli, e gli uomini della sua corte, e gli uomini prodi, ed ogni uomo di valore.
2 E il re Davide si levò in piè, e disse: Ascoltatemi, fratelli miei, e popol mio; io avea in cuore di edificare una Casa di riposo all’Arca del Patto del Signore; ed allo scannello de’ piedi del nostro Dio; ed avea fatto l’apparecchio per edificarla.
3 Ma Iddio mi ha detto: Tu non edificherai la Casa al mio Nome; perciocchè tu sei uomo di guerra, ed hai sparso molto sangue.
4 Ora, come il Signore Iddio d’Israele mi ha eletto d’infra tutta la casa di mio padre, per esser re sopra Israele, in perpetuo conciossiachè egli abbia eletto Giuda per conduttore, e la casa di mio padre, d’infra la casa di Giuda, ed abbia gradito me, d’infra i figliuoli di mio padre, per costituirmi re sopra tutto Israele;
5 così d’infra tutti i miei figliuoli avendomene il Signore dati molti, egli ha eletto Salomone, mio figliuolo, per sedere sopra il trono del regno del Signore, sopra Israele.
6 E mi ha detto: Il tuo figliuolo Salomone edificherà la mia Casa, ed i miei cortili; perciocchè io me l’ho eletto per figliuolo, e io gli sarò padre.
7 E stabilirò il suo regno in perpetuo; purchè egli perseveri fermamente in mettere in opera i miei comandamenti, e le mie leggi, come al dì d’oggi.
8 Ora dunque, davanti agli occhi di tutto Israele, della raunanza del Signore, ed agli orecchi dell’Iddio nostro, io vi protesto che osserviate, e ricerchiate tutti i comandamenti del Signore Iddio vostro; acciocchè possediate questo buon paese, e lo lasciate in eredità a’ vostri figliuoli, dopo voi, in perpetuo.
9 E tu, Salomone, figliuol mio, riconosci l’Iddio di tuo padre, e servigli di cuore intiero, e d’animo volenteroso; perciocchè il Signore ricerca tutti i cuori, e conosce tutte le immaginazioni de’ pensieri; se tu lo cerchi, tu lo troverai; ma, se tu l’abbandoni, egli ti rigetterà in perpetuo.
10 Vedi ora che il Signore ti ha eletto per edificare una Casa per Santuario; fortificati, e mettiti all’opera
11 Allora Davide diede a Salomone, suo figliuolo, il modello del portico, e delle sue case, e delle sue celle, e delle sue sale, e delle sue camere di dentro e del luogo del propiziatorio;
12 ed in somma, il modello di tutto quello ch’egli avea disegno per lo Spirito di fare ne’ cortili della Casa del Signore, ed in tutte le camere d’intorno, per li tesori della Casa di Dio, e per li tesori delle cose consacrate;
13 e per gli spartimenti de’ sacerdoti, e de’ Leviti; e per ogni uso del servigio della Casa del Signore; e per tutti gli arredi del servigio della Casa del Signore.
14 Gli diede ancora dell’oro, secondo il peso di tutti gli arredi di ciascun servigio, che doveano esser d’oro; e dell’argento, secondo il peso di tutti gli arredi di ciascun servigio, che doveano esser d’argento.
15 E il peso che conveniva per li candellieri d’oro, e per le lor lampane d’oro, secondo il peso di ciascun candelliere, e delle sue lampane; e il peso che conveniva per li candellieri d’argento, secondo il peso di ciascun candelliere, e delle sue lampane, secondo il servigio di ciascun candelliere;
16 e il peso dell’oro che conveniva per ciascuna delle tavole de’ pani, che doveano del continuo esser disposti per ordine; e il peso dell’argento che conveniva per le tavole d’argento;
17 e dell’oro puro, per le forcelle, e per li bacini, e per li nappi; e parimente dell’oro a certo peso, per le coppe d’oro, secondo il peso di ciascuna di esse; e dell’argento a certo peso per le coppe d’argento, secondo il peso di ciascuna di esse.
18 Gli diede ancora dell’oro affinato a certo peso per l’Altar de’ profumi; e per la figura del carro, e de’ Cherubini, che aveano da spander le ale, e coprir l’Arca del patto del Signore disopra.
19 Il Signore, disse Davide, mi ha dichiarato, per iscritto di sua mano, che mi è stato recato, tutte queste cose, tutti i lavori di questo modello.
20 Poi disse a Salomone, suo figliuolo: Prendi animo, e fortificati, e mettiti all’opera; non temere, e non isgomentarti; perciocchè il Signore Iddio, l’Iddio mio, sarà teco; egli non ti lascerà, e non ti abbandonerà finchè tu abbia compiuta tutta l’opera del servigio della Casa del Signore.
21 Ed ecco gli spartimenti de’ sacerdoti, e de’ Leviti, per tutto il servigio della Casa di Dio; ed essi saranno teco in tutta l’opera; oltre a tutti quelli che volontariamente s’impiegheranno, secondo la loro industria, in ogni sorte di servigio; insieme co’ capi, e tutto il popolo, ad ogni tuo comando
