1 Esta é a bênção que Moisés, homem de Deus, deu aos filhos de Israel, antes da sua morte. 2 Disse, pois:

O Senhor veio do Sinai

e lhes alvoreceu de Seir,

resplandeceu desde o monte Parã;

e veio das miríades de santos;

à sua direita, havia para eles o fogo da lei.

3 Na verdade, amas os povos;

todos os teus santos estão na tua mão;

eles se colocam a teus pés

e aprendem das tuas palavras.

4 Moisés nos prescreveu a lei

por herança da congregação de Jacó.

5 E o Senhor se tornou rei ao seu povo amado,

quando se congregaram os cabeças do povo

com as tribos de Israel.

6 Viva Rúben e não morra;

e não sejam poucos os seus homens!

7 Isto é o que disse de Judá:

Ouve, ó Senhor, a voz de Judá

e introduze-o no seu povo;

com as tuas mãos, peleja por ele

e sê tu ajuda contra os seus inimigos.

8 De Levi disse:

Dá, ó Deus, o teu Tumim e o teu Urim

para o homem, teu fidedigno,

que tu provaste em Massá,

com quem contendeste nas águas de Meribá;

9 aquele que disse a seu pai e a sua mãe:

Nunca os vi;

e não conheceu a seus irmãos

e não estimou a seus filhos,

pois guardou a tua palavra

e observou a tua aliança.

10 Ensinou os teus juízos a Jacó

e a tua lei, a Israel;

ofereceu incenso às tuas narinas

e holocausto, sobre o teu altar.

11 Abençoa o seu poder, ó Senhor,

e aceita a obra das suas mãos,

fere os lombos dos que se levantam contra ele e o aborrecem,

para que nunca mais se levantem.

12 De Benjamim disse:

O amado do Senhor habitará seguro com ele;

todo o dia o Senhor o protegerá,

e ele descansará nos seus braços.

13 De José disse:

Bendita do Senhor seja a sua terra,

com o que é mais excelente dos céus,

do orvalho e das profundezas,

14 com o que é mais excelente daquilo que o sol amadurece

e daquilo que os meses produzem,

15 com o que é mais excelente dos montes antigos

e mais excelente dos outeiros eternos,

16 com o que é mais excelente da terra e da sua plenitude

e da benevolência daquele que apareceu na sarça;

que tudo isto venha sobre a cabeça de José,

sobre a cabeça do príncipe entre seus irmãos.

17 Ele tem a imponência do primogênito do seu touro,

e as suas pontas são como as de um boi selvagem;

com elas rechaçará todos os povos

até às extremidades da terra.

Tais, pois, as miríades de Efraim,

e tais, os milhares de Manassés.

18 De Zebulom disse:

Alegra-te, Zebulom, nas tuas saídas marítimas,

e tu, Issacar, nas tuas tendas.

19 Os dois chamarão os povos ao monte;

ali apresentarão ofertas legítimas,

porque chuparão a abundância dos mares

e os tesouros escondidos da areia.

20 De Gade disse:

Bendito aquele que faz dilatar Gade,

o qual habita como a leoa

e despedaça o braço e o alto da cabeça.

21 E se proveu da melhor parte,

porquanto ali estava escondida a porção do chefe;

ele marchou adiante do povo,

executou a justiça do Senhor

e os seus juízos para com Israel.

22 De Dã disse:

Dã é leãozinho;

saltará de Basã.

23 De Naftali disse:

Naftali goza de favores

e, cheio da bênção do Senhor,

possuirá o lago e o Sul.

24 De Aser disse:

Bendito seja Aser entre os filhos de Jacó,

agrade a seus irmãos

e banhe em azeite o pé.

25 Sejam de ferro e de bronze os teus ferrolhos,

e, como os teus dias, durará a tua paz.

26 Não há outro, ó amado, semelhante a Deus,

que cavalga sobre os céus para a tua ajuda

e com a sua alteza sobre as nuvens.

27 O Deus eterno é a tua habitação

e, por baixo de ti, estende os braços eternos;

ele expulsou o inimigo de diante de ti

e disse: Destrói-o.

28 Israel, pois, habitará seguro,

a fonte de Jacó habitará a sós

numa terra de cereal e de vinho;

e os seus céus destilarão orvalho.

29 Feliz és tu, ó Israel! Quem é como tu?

Povo salvo pelo Senhor,

escudo que te socorre,

espada que te dá alteza.

Assim, os teus inimigos te serão sujeitos,

e tu pisarás os seus altos.

1 And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death. 2 And he said,

Jehovah came from Sinai,

And rose from Seir unto them;

He shined forth from mount Paran,

And he came from the ten thousands of holy ones:

At his right hand was a fiery law for them.

3 Yea, he loveth the people;

All his saints are in thy hand:

And they sat down at thy feet;

Every one shall receive of thy words.

4 Moses commanded us a law,

An inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.

5 And he was king in Jeshurun,

When the heads of the people were gathered,

All the tribes of Israel together.

6 Let Reuben live, and not die;

Nor let his men be few.

7 And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said,

Hear, Jehovah, the voice of Judah,

And bring him in unto his people.

With his hands he contended for himself;

And thou shalt be a help against his adversaries.

8 And of Levi he said,

Thy Thummim and thy Urim are with thy godly one,

Whom thou didst prove at Massah,

With whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;

9 Who said of his father, and of his mother, I have not seen him;

Neither did he acknowledge his brethren,

Nor knew he his own children:

For they have observed thy word,

And keep thy covenant.

10 They shall teach Jacob thine ordinances,

And Israel thy law:

They shall put incense before thee,

And whole burnt-offering upon thine altar.

11 Bless, Jehovah, his substance,

And accept the work of his hands:

Smite through the loins of them that rise up against him,

And of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

12 Of Benjamin he said,

The beloved of Jehovah shall dwell in safety by him;

He covereth him all the day long,

And he dwelleth between his shoulders.

13 And of Joseph he said,

Blessed of Jehovah be his land,

For the precious things of heaven, for the dew,

And for the deep that coucheth beneath,

14 And for the precious things of the fruits of the sun,

And for the precious things of the growth of the moons,

15 And for the chief things of the ancient mountains,

And for the precious things of the everlasting hills,

16 And for the precious things of the earth and the fulness thereof,

And the good will of him that dwelt in the bush.

Let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph,

And upon the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.

17 The firstling of his herd, majesty is his;

And his horns are the horns of the wild-ox:

With them he shall push the peoples all of them, even the ends of the earth:

And they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,

And they are the thousands of Manasseh.

18 And of Zebulun he said,

Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out;

And, Issachar, in thy tents.

19 They shall call the peoples unto the mountain;

There shall they offer sacrifices of righteousness:

For they shall suck the abundance of the seas,

And the hidden treasures of the sand.

20 And of Gad he said,

Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad:

He dwelleth as a lioness,

And teareth the arm, yea, the crown of the head.

21 And he provided the first part for himself,

For there was the lawgiver’s portion reserved;

And he came with the heads of the people;

He executed the righteousness of Jehovah,

And his ordinances with Israel.

22 And of Dan he said,

Dan is a lion’s whelp,

That leapeth forth from Bashan.

23 And of Naphtali he said,

O Naphtali, satisfied with favor,

And full with the blessing of Jehovah,

Possess thou the west and the south.

24 And of Asher he said,

Blessed be Asher with children;

Let him be acceptable unto his brethren,

And let him dip his foot in oil.

25 Thy bars shall be iron and brass;

And as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

26 There is none like unto God, O Jeshurun,

Who rideth upon the heavens for thy help,

And in his excellency on the skies.

27 The eternal God is thy dwelling-place,

And underneath are the everlasting arms.

And he thrust out the enemy from before thee,

And said, Destroy.

28 And Israel dwelleth in safety,

The fountain of Jacob alone,

In a land of grain and new wine;

Yea, his heavens drop down dew.

29 Happy art thou, O Israel:

Who is like unto thee, a people saved by Jehovah,

The shield of thy help,

And the sword of thy excellency!

And thine enemies shall submit themselves unto thee;

And thou shalt tread upon their high places.

1 This is the blessing that Moses the man of God pronounced on the Israelites before his death.

2 He said: "The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with "myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes. [^2]

3 Surely it is you who love the people; all the holy ones are in your hand. At your feet they all bow down, and from you receive instruction,

4 the law that Moses gave us, the possession of the assembly of Jacob.

5 He was king over Jeshurun "when the leaders of the people assembled, along with the tribes of Israel.

6 "Let Reuben live and not die, nor "his people be few."

7 And this he said about Judah: "Hear, LORD, the cry of Judah; bring him to his people. With his own hands he defends his cause. Oh, be his help against his foes!"

8 About Levi he said: "Your Thummim and Urim belong to your faithful servant. You tested him at Massah; you contended with him at the waters of Meribah.

9 He said of his father and mother, 'I have no regard for them.' He did not recognize his brothers or acknowledge his own children, but he watched over your word and guarded your covenant.

10 He teaches your precepts to Jacob and your law to Israel. He offers incense before you and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

11 Bless all his skills, LORD, and be pleased with the work of his hands. Strike down those who rise against him, his foes till they rise no more."

12 About Benjamin he said: "Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rests between his shoulders."

13 About Joseph he said: "May the LORD bless his land with the precious dew from heaven above and with the deep waters that lie below;

14 with the best the sun brings forth and the finest the moon can yield;

15 with the choicest gifts of the ancient mountains and the fruitfulness of the everlasting hills;

16 with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness and the favor of him who dwelt in the burning bush. Let all these rest on the head of Joseph, on the brow of the prince among "his brothers.

17 In majesty he is like a firstborn bull; his horns are the horns of a wild ox. With them he will gore the nations, even those at the ends of the earth. Such are the ten thousands of Ephraim; such are the thousands of Manasseh."

18 About Zebulun he said: "Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out, and you, Issachar, in your tents.

19 They will summon peoples to the mountain and there offer the sacrifices of the righteous; they will feast on the abundance of the seas, on the treasures hidden in the sand."

20 About Gad he said: "Blessed is he who enlarges Gad's domain! Gad lives there like a lion, tearing at arm or head.

21 He chose the best land for himself; the leader's portion was kept for him. When the heads of the people assembled, he carried out the LORD's righteous will, and his judgments concerning Israel."

22 About Dan he said: "Dan is a lion's cub, springing out of Bashan."

23 About Naphtali he said: "Naphtali is abounding with the favor of the LORD and is full of his blessing; he will inherit southward to the lake."

24 About Asher he said: "Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil.

25 The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days.

26 "There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, who rides across the heavens to help you and on the clouds in his majesty.

27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemies before you, saying, 'Destroy them!'

28 So Israel will live in safety; Jacob will dwell "secure in a land of grain and new wine, where the heavens drop dew.

29 Blessed are you, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is your shield and helper and your glorious sword. Your enemies will cower before you, and you will tread on their heights."
