5 Desceu a filha de Faraó para se banhar no rio, e as suas donzelas passeavam pela beira do rio; vendo ela o cesto no carriçal, enviou a sua criada e o tomou. 10 Sendo o menino já grande, ela o trouxe à filha de Faraó, da qual passou ele a ser filho. Esta lhe chamou Moisés e disse: Porque das águas o tirei.

5 And the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river; and her maidens walked along by the river-side; and she saw the ark among the flags, and sent her handmaid to fetch it. 10 And the child grew, and she brought him unto Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became her son. And she called his name Moses, and said, Because I drew him out of the water.

5 Then Pharaoh's daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it.

10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh's daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, "saying, "I drew him out of the water."
