1 Paulo, apóstolo de Cristo Jesus, por vontade de Deus, e o irmão Timóteo, 2 aos santos e fiéis irmãos em Cristo que se encontram em Colossos, graça e paz a vós outros, da parte de Deus, nosso Pai.

3 Damos sempre graças a Deus, Pai de nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, quando oramos por vós, 4 desde que ouvimos da vossa fé em Cristo Jesus e do amor que tendes para com todos os santos; 5 por causa da esperança que vos está preservada nos céus, da qual antes ouvistes pela palavra da verdade do evangelho, 6 que chegou até vós; como também, em todo o mundo, está produzindo fruto e crescendo, tal acontece entre vós, desde o dia em que ouvistes e entendestes a graça de Deus na verdade; 7 segundo fostes instruídos por Epafras, nosso amado conservo e, quanto a vós outros, fiel ministro de Cristo, 8 o qual também nos relatou do vosso amor no Espírito.

9 Por esta razão, também nós, desde o dia em que o ouvimos, não cessamos de orar por vós e de pedir que transbordeis de pleno conhecimento da sua vontade, em toda a sabedoria e entendimento espiritual; 10 a fim de viverdes de modo digno do Senhor, para o seu inteiro agrado, frutificando em toda boa obra e crescendo no pleno conhecimento de Deus; 11 sendo fortalecidos com todo o poder, segundo a força da sua glória, em toda a perseverança e longanimidade; com alegria, 12 dando graças ao Pai, que vos fez idôneos à parte que vos cabe da herança dos santos na luz.

13 Ele nos libertou do império das trevas e nos transportou para o reino do Filho do seu amor, 14 no qual temos a redenção, a remissão dos pecados. 15 Este é a imagem do Deus invisível, o primogênito de toda a criação; 16 pois, nele, foram criadas todas as coisas, nos céus e sobre a terra, as visíveis e as invisíveis, sejam tronos, sejam soberanias, quer principados, quer potestades. Tudo foi criado por meio dele e para ele. 17 Ele é antes de todas as coisas. Nele, tudo subsiste. 18 Ele é a cabeça do corpo, da igreja. Ele é o princípio, o primogênito de entre os mortos, para em todas as coisas ter a primazia, 19 porque aprouve a Deus que, nele, residisse toda a plenitude 20 e que, havendo feito a paz pelo sangue da sua cruz, por meio dele, reconciliasse consigo mesmo todas as coisas, quer sobre a terra, quer nos céus. 21 E a vós outros também que, outrora, éreis estranhos e inimigos no entendimento pelas vossas obras malignas, 22 agora, porém, vos reconciliou no corpo da sua carne, mediante a sua morte, para apresentar-vos perante ele santos, inculpáveis e irrepreensíveis, 23 se é que permaneceis na fé, alicerçados e firmes, não vos deixando afastar da esperança do evangelho que ouvistes e que foi pregado a toda criatura debaixo do céu, e do qual eu, Paulo, me tornei ministro.

24 Agora, me regozijo nos meus sofrimentos por vós; e preencho o que resta das aflições de Cristo, na minha carne, a favor do seu corpo, que é a igreja; 25 da qual me tornei ministro de acordo com a dispensação da parte de Deus, que me foi confiada a vosso favor, para dar pleno cumprimento à palavra de Deus: 26 o mistério que estivera oculto dos séculos e das gerações; agora, todavia, se manifestou aos seus santos; 27 aos quais Deus quis dar a conhecer qual seja a riqueza da glória deste mistério entre os gentios, isto é, Cristo em vós, a esperança da glória; 28 o qual nós anunciamos, advertindo a todo homem e ensinando a todo homem em toda a sabedoria, a fim de que apresentemos todo homem perfeito em Cristo; 29 para isso é que eu também me afadigo, esforçando-me o mais possível, segundo a sua eficácia que opera eficientemente em mim.

1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,2 to the holy and faithful brothers in Colossae who are in union with Christ.May grace and peace from God our Father be yours!3 We give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,4 because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints,5 based on the hope laid up for you in heaven. Some time ago you heard about this hope in the word of truth, the gospel6 that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and spreading all over the world, so it has been doing among you from the day you heard it and came to know the grace of God in truth.7 You learned about this gospel from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf.8 He has told us about your love in the Spirit.9 For this reason, since the day we heard about this, we have not stopped praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the full knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,10 so that you might live in a manner worthy of the Lord and be fully pleasing to him as you bear fruit in every good work and grow in the full knowledge of God.11 You are being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might, so that you might patiently endure everything with joy12 and might thank the Father, who has enabled us to share in the saints’ inheritance in the light.13 He has rescued us from the power of darkness and has brought us into the kingdom of the Son whom he loves.14 In him we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.16 For by him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible, whether they are kings, lords, rulers, or powers. All things have been created through him and for him.17 He himself existed before all things, and by him all things hold together.18 He is also the head of the body, which is the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he himself might have first place in everything.19 For God was pleased to have all of his fullness live in him.20 Through him he also reconciled all things to himself, whether things on earth or things in heaven, thus making peace through the blood of his cross.21 You who were once alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,22 he has now reconciled by the death of his physical body so that he might present you holy, blameless, and without fault before him.23 However, you must remain firmly established and steadfast in the faith, without being moved from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.24 Now I am rejoicing in my sufferings for you and completing in my flesh whatever remains of Christ's sufferings on behalf of his body, which is the church.25 I became its servant according to God's commission that was given to me for you, so that I might fulfill the ministry of the word of God.26 This secret was hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints,27 to whom God wanted to make known the glorious riches of this secret among the Gentiles—which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.28 It is he whom we proclaim as we admonish everyone and teach everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ.29 I work hard and struggle to do this according to his energy that powerfully works in me.
