1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, even as we obtained mercy, we faint not: 2 but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled in them that perish: 4 in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn upon them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 Seeing it is God, that said, Light shall shine out of darkness, who shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the exceeding greatness of the power may be of God, and not from ourselves; 8 we are pressed on every side, yet not straitened; perplexed, yet not unto despair; 9 pursued, yet not forsaken; smitten down, yet not destroyed; 10 always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body. 11 For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you. 13 But having the same spirit of faith, according to that which is written, I believed, and therefore did I speak; we also believe, and therefore also we speak; 14 knowing that he that raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also with Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound unto the glory of God.

16 Wherefore we faint not; but though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is for the moment, worketh for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory; 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1 PERCIÒ, avendo questo ministerio, secondo che ci è stata fatta misericordia, noi non veniam meno dell’animo.

2 Anzi abbiam rinunziato a’ nascondimenti della vergogna, non camminando con astuzia, e non falsando la parola di Dio; anzi rendendoci approvati noi stessi da ogni coscienza degli uomini, davanti a Dio, per la manifestazion della verità.

3 Che se il nostro evangelo ancora è coperto, egli è coperto fra coloro che periscono;

4 fra i quali l’Iddio di questo secolo ha accecate le menti degl’increduli, acciocchè la luce dell’evangelo della gloria di Cristo, il quale è l’immagine dell’invisibile Iddio, non risplenda loro.

5 Poichè non predichiamo noi stessi, ma Cristo Gesù, il Signore; e noi siamo vostri servitori, per Gesù.

6 Perciocchè Iddio, che disse che la luce risplendesse dalle tenebre, è quel che ha fatto schiarire il suo splendore ne’ cuori nostri, per illuminarci nella conoscenza della gloria di Dio, che splende sul volto di Gesù Cristo.

7 Or noi abbiamo questo tesoro in vasi di terra, acciocchè l’eccellenza di questa potenza sia di Dio, e non da noi

8 Essendo per ogni maniera afflitti, ma non però ridotti ad estreme distrette; perplessi, ma non però disperati;

9 perseguiti, ma non però abbandonati; abbattuti, ma non però perduti.

10 Portando del continuo nel nostro corpo la mortificazione del Signor Gesù; acciocchè ancora si manifesti la vita di Gesù nel nostro corpo.

11 Poichè noi che viviamo siamo del continuo esposti alla morte per Gesù; acciocchè ancora la vita di Gesù si manifesti nella nostra carne mortale.

12 Talchè la morte opera in noi, ma la vita in voi.

13 Ma pure, avendo noi lo stesso spirito della fede, secondo che è scritto: Io ho creduto, perciò ho parlato; noi ancora crediamo, perciò eziandio parliamo.

14 Sapendo che colui che ha risuscitato il Signor Gesù, risusciterà ancora noi per Gesù, e ci farà comparire con voi.

15 Perciocchè tutte queste cose son per voi; acciocchè la grazia, essendo abbondata, soprabbondi, per lo ringraziamento di molti, alla gloria di Dio.

16 PERCIÒ noi non veniam meno dell’animo; ma, benchè il nostro uomo esterno si disfaccia, pur si rinnova l’interno di giorno in giorno.

17 Perciocchè la leggiera nostra afflizione, che è sol per un momento, ci produce un sopra modo eccellente peso eterno di gloria;

18 mentre non abbiamo il riguardo fisso alle cose che si veggono, ma a quelle che non si veggono; poichè le cose che si veggono sono sol per un tempo; ma quelle che non si veggono sono eterne
