1 Are we beginning again to commend ourselves? or need we, as do some, epistles of commendation to you or from you? 2 Ye are our epistle, written in our hearts, known and read of all men; 3 being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in tables that are hearts of flesh. 4 And such confidence have we through Christ to God-ward: 5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God; 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. 7 But if the ministration of death, written, and engraven on stones, came with glory, so that the children of Israel could not look stedfastly upon the face of Moses for the glory of his face; which glory was passing away: 8 how shall not rather the ministration of the spirit be with glory? 9 For if the ministration of condemnation hath glory, much rather doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory. 10 For verily that which hath been made glorious hath not been made glorious in this respect, by reason of the glory that surpasseth. 11 For if that which passeth away was with glory, much more that which remaineth is in glory.

12 Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech, 13 and are not as Moses, who put a veil upon his face, that the children of Israel should not look stedfastly on the end of that which was passing away: 14 but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth, it not being revealed to them that it is done away in Christ. 15 But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart. 16 But whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.

7 Acum, dacă slujba*Rom. 7:10. aducătoare de moarte, scrisă*Exod 34:1,28.Deut. 10:1. și săpată în pietre, era cu atâta slavă încât*Exod 34:29,30,35. fiii lui Israel nu puteau să-și pironească ochii asupra feței lui Moise din pricina strălucirii feței lui, măcar că strălucirea aceasta era trecătoare, 8 cum n-ar fi cu slavă mai degrabă slujba*Gal. 3:5. Duhului? 9 Dacă slujba aducătoare de osândă a fost slăvită, cu cât mai mult o întrece în slavă slujba*Rom. 1:17;3:21. aducătoare de neprihănire? 10 Și în privința aceasta, ce a fost slăvit nici n-a fost slăvit, din pricina slavei care o întrece cu mult. 11 În adevăr, dacă ce era trecător era cu slavă, cu cât mai mult va rămâne în slavă ce este netrecător! 12 Fiindcă avem dar o astfel de nădejde, noi lucrăm*Cap. 7:4.Efes. 6:19. cu multă îndrăzneală 13 și nu facem ca Moise, care*Exod 34:33,35. își punea o maramă peste față, pentru ca fiii lui Israel să nu-și pironească ochii asupra sfârșitului a ceea ce era trecător*Rom. 10:4.Gal. 3:23.. 14 Dar ei au rămas greoi la minte*Is. 6:10.Mat. 13:11,14.Ioan 12:40.Fapte 28:26.Rom. 11:7,8,25. Cap. 4:4.: căci până în ziua de astăzi, la citirea Vechiului Testament, această maramă rămâne neridicată, fiindcă marama este dată la o parte în Hristos. 15 Da, până astăzi, când se citește Moise, rămâne o maramă peste inimile lor. 16 Dar ori de câte ori*Exod 34:34.Rom. 11:23,26. vreunul se întoarce la Domnul, marama este luată*Is. 25:7.. 17 Căci Domnul*1 Cor. 15:45. Vers. 6. este Duhul, și unde este Duhul Domnului, acolo este slobozenia. 18 Noi toți privim cu fața descoperită, ca*1 Cor. 13:12. într-o oglindă, slava*Cap. 4:4,6.1 Tim. 1:11. Domnului și suntem schimbați*Rom. 8:29.1 Cor. 15:49.Col. 3:10. în același chip al Lui, din slavă în slavă, prin Duhul Domnului.
