1 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God which hath been given in the churches of Macedonia; 2 how that in much proof of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. 3 For according to their power, I bear witness, yea and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord, 4 beseeching us with much entreaty in regard of this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the saints: 5 and this, not as we had hoped, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God. 6 Insomuch that we exhorted Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace also. 7 But as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also. 8 I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love. 9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might become rich. 10 And herein I give my judgment: for this is expedient for you, who were the first to make a beginning a year ago, not only to do, but also to will. 11 But now complete the doing also; that as there was the readiness to will, so there may be the completion also out of your ability. 12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according as a man hath, not according as he hath not. 13 For I say not this that others may be eased and ye distressed; 14 but by equality: your abundance being a supply at this present time for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want; that there may be equality: 15 as it is written, He that gathered much had nothing over; and he that gathered little had no lack.

16 But thanks be to God, who putteth the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus. 17 For he accepted indeed our exhortation; but being himself very earnest, he went forth unto you of his own accord. 18 And we have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the gospel is spread through all the churches; 19 and not only so, but who was also appointed by the churches to travel with us in the matter of this grace, which is ministered by us to the glory of the Lord, and to show our readiness: 20 avoiding this, that any man should blame us in the matter of this bounty which is ministered by us: 21 for we take thought for things honorable, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. 22 And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he hath in you. 23 Whether any inquire about Titus, he is my partner and my fellow-worker to you-ward; or our brethren, they are the messengers of the churches, they are the glory of Christ. 24 Show ye therefore unto them in the face of the churches the proof of your love, and of our glorying on your behalf.

1 Fraților, voim să vă aducem la cunoștință harul pe care l-a dat Dumnezeu în Bisericile Macedoniei. 2 În mijlocul multelor necazuri prin care au trecut, bucuria lor peste măsură de mare și sărăcia lor lucie*Marcu 12:44. au dat naștere la un belșug de dărnicie din partea lor. 3 Vă mărturisesc că au dat de bunăvoie, după puterea lor și chiar peste puterile lor. 4 Și ne-au rugat cu mari stăruințe pentru harul și părtășia la această strângere*Fapte 11:29;24:17.Rom. 15:25,26.1 Cor. 16:1,3,4. Cap. 9:1. de ajutoare pentru sfinți. 5 Și au făcut aceasta nu numai cum nădăjduisem, dar s-au dat mai întâi pe ei înșiși Domnului și apoi nouă, prin voia lui Dumnezeu. 6 Noi dar*Vers. 17. Cap. 12:18. am rugat pe Tit să isprăvească această strângere de ajutoare pe care o începuse. 7 După cum sporiți în*1 Cor. 1:5;12:13. toate lucrurile: în credință, în cuvânt, în cunoștință, în orice râvnă și în dragostea voastră pentru noi, căutați să*Cap. 9:8. sporiți și în această binefacere. 8 Nu*1 Cor. 7:6. spun lucrul acesta ca să vă dau o poruncă, ci pentru râvna altora și ca să pun la încercare curăția dragostei voastre. 9 Căci cunoașteți harul Domnului nostru Isus Hristos. El*Mat. 8:20.Luca 9:58.Filip. 2:6,7., măcar că era bogat, S-a făcut sărac pentru voi, pentru ca, prin sărăcia Lui, voi să vă îmbogățiți. 10 În această privință vă dau*1 Cor. 7:25. un sfat. Și sfatul*Prov. 19:17.Mat. 10:42.1 Tim. 6:18,19.Evr. 13:16. acesta vă este de folos vouă, care, de acum un an, cei dintâi ați început nu numai să faceți, ci să și*Cap. 9:2. voiți. 11 Isprăviți dar acum de făcut, pentru ca, după graba voinței să fie și înfăptuirea, potrivit cu mijloacele voastre. 12 Pentru că*Marcu 12:43,44.Luca 21:3., dacă este bunăvoință, darul este primit, avându-se în vedere ce are cineva, nu ce n-are. 13 Aici nu este vorba ca alții să fie ușurați, iar voi strâmtorați, 14 ci este vorba de o potrivire: în împrejurarea de acum, prisosul vostru să acopere nevoile lor, pentru ca și prisosul lor să acopere, la rândul lui, nevoile voastre, așa ca să fie o potrivire, 15 după cum este scris: „Cel*Exod 16:18. ce strânsese mult n-avea nimic de prisos, și cel ce strânsese puțin nu ducea lipsă."

16 Mulțumiri fie aduse lui Dumnezeu, care a pus în inima lui Tit aceeași râvnă pentru voi. 17 Căci el a primit îndemnul*Vers. 6. nostru, ba încă, stăpânit de o râvnă arzătoare, a pornit de bunăvoie spre voi. 18 Am trimis cu el și pe fratele*Cap. 12:18. a cărui laudă în Evanghelie este răspândită prin toate Bisericile. 19 Mai mult, el a fost ales*1 Cor. 16:3,4. de Biserici să meargă împreună cu noi în această lucrare de binefacere, pe care o săvârșim spre*Cap. 4:15. slava Domnului și ca o dovadă de bunăvoința noastră. 20 În chipul acesta, vrem ca nimeni să nu ne defaime cu privire la acest belșug de ajutoare de care îngrijim. 21 Căci căutăm*Rom. 12:17.Filip. 4:8.1 Pet. 2:12. să lucrăm cinstit nu numai înaintea Domnului, ci și înaintea oamenilor. 22 Am trimis cu ei pe fratele nostru, a cărui râvnă am încercat-o de atâtea ori în multe împrejurări și care, de data aceasta, arată mult mai multă râvnă din pricina marii lui încrederi în voi. 23 Astfel, fie având în vedere pe Tit, care este părtașul și tovarășul meu de lucru în mijlocul vostru, fie având în vedere pe frații noștri, care sunt trimișii*Filip. 2:25. Bisericilor și fala lui Hristos, 24 dați-le înaintea Bisericilor dovadă de dragostea voastră și arătați-le că avem dreptul să ne lăudăm*Cap. 7:14;9:2. cu voi.
