1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt-offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of Jehovah filled the house. 2 And the priests could not enter into the house of Jehovah, because the glory of Jehovah filled Jehovah’s house. 3 And all the children of Israel looked on, when the fire came down, and the glory of Jehovah was upon the house; and they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and gave thanks unto Jehovah, saying, For he is good; for his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

4 Then the king and all the people offered sacrifice before Jehovah. 5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and a hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. 6 And the priests stood, according to their offices; the Levites also with instruments of music of Jehovah, which David the king had made to give thanks unto Jehovah (for his lovingkindness endureth for ever), when David praised by their ministry: and the priests sounded trumpets before them; and all Israel stood. 7 Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the fat of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt-offering, and the meal-offering, and the fat.

8 So Solomon held the feast at that time seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath unto the brook of Egypt. 9 And on the eighth day they held a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. 10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away unto their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the goodness that Jehovah had showed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 Thus Solomon finished the house of Jehovah, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of Jehovah, and in his own house, he prosperously effected. 12 And Jehovah appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for a house of sacrifice. 13 If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; 14 if my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent, unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now have I chosen and hallowed this house, that my name may be there for ever; and mine eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually. 17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and mine ordinances; 18 then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; 20 then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 21 And this house, which is so high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house? 22 And they shall answer, Because they forsook Jehovah, the God of their fathers, who brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.

Domnului a umplut casa. 2 Preoții*Cap. 5:14. nu puteau să intre în Casa Domnului, căci slava Domnului umplea Casa Domnului. 3 Toți copiii lui Israel au văzut coborându-se focul și slava Domnului peste casă; ei și-au plecat fața la pământ pe pardoseală, s-au închinat și au lăudat pe Domnul, zicând*Cap. 5:13.Ps. 136:1.: „Căci este bun, căci îndurarea Lui ține în*1 Cron. 16:41. Cap. 20:21. veac!" 4 Împăratul*1 Împ. 8:62,63. și tot poporul au adus jertfe înaintea Domnului. 5 Împăratul Solomon a înjunghiat douăzeci și două de mii de boi și o sută douăzeci de mii de oi. Astfel au făcut împăratul și tot poporul sfințirea Casei lui Dumnezeu. 6 Preoții*1 Cron. 15:16. stăteau la locul lor și tot astfel și leviții, cu instrumentele făcute în cinstea Domnului de împăratul David, pentru cântarea laudelor Domnului, când i-a însărcinat David să mărească pe Domnul zicând: „Căci îndurarea Lui ține în veac!" Preoții sunau*Cap. 5:12. din trâmbițe în fața lor. Și tot Israelul era de față. 7 Solomon a sfințit*1 Împ. 8:64. și mijlocul curții, care este înaintea Casei Domnului, căci acolo a adus arderile-de-tot și grăsimile jertfelor de mulțumire, pentru că altarul de aramă pe care-l făcuse Solomon nu putea cuprinde arderile-de-tot, darurile de mâncare și grăsimile. 8 Solomon a prăznuit sărbătoarea în vremea aceea*1 Împ. 8:65. șapte zile și tot Israelul a prăznuit împreună cu el; venise o mare mulțime de oameni de la intrarea Hamatului până la pârâul*Ios. 13:3. Egiptului. 9 În ziua a opta, au avut o adunare de sărbătoare, căci sfințirea altarului au făcut-o șapte zile și sărbătoarea tot șapte zile. 10 În a douăzeci și treia*1 Împ. 8:66. zi a lunii a șaptea, Solomon a trimis înapoi în corturi pe popor, care era vesel și mulțumit de binele pe care-l făcuse Domnul lui David, lui Solomon și poporului Său Israel.

11 Când a isprăvit*1 Împ. 9:1. Solomon Casa Domnului și casa împăratului și a izbutit în tot ce-și pusese de gând să facă în Casa Domnului și în casa împăratului, 12 Domnul S-a arătat lui Solomon noaptea și i-a zis: „Îți ascult rugăciunea și aleg locul*Deut. 12:5. acesta drept casa unde va trebui să Mi se aducă jertfe. 13 Când voi*Cap. 6:26,28. închide cerul și nu va fi ploaie, când voi porunci lăcustelor să mănânce țara, când voi trimite ciuma în poporul Meu, 14 dacă poporul Meu, peste care este chemat Numele Meu, se va*Iac. 4:10. smeri, se va ruga și va căuta Fața Mea, și se va abate de la căile lui rele, îl*Cap. 6:27,30. voi asculta din ceruri, îi voi ierta păcatul și-i voi tămădui țara. 15 Ochii*Cap. 6:40. Mei vor fi deschiși de acum și urechile Mele vor fi cu luare aminte la rugăciunea făcută în locul acesta. 16 Acum, aleg*1 Împ. 9:3. Cap. 6:6. și sfințesc casa aceasta, pentru ca Numele Meu să locuiască în ea pe vecie, și voi avea totdeauna ochii și inima Mea acolo. 17 Și tu*1 Împ. 9:4., dacă vei umbla înaintea Mea cum a umblat tatăl tău, David, făcând tot ce ți-am poruncit, și dacă vei păzi legile și poruncile Mele, 18 voi întări scaunul de domnie al împărăției tale, cum am făgăduit tatălui tău, David, când am zis: ‘Niciodată nu*Cap. 6:16. vei fi lipsit de un urmaș care să domnească peste Israel.’ 19 Dar, dacă vă*Lev. 26:14,33.Deut. 28:15,36,37. veți abate, dacă veți părăsi legile și poruncile Mele, pe care vi le-am dat, și dacă vă veți duce să slujiți altor dumnezei și să vă închinați înaintea lor, 20 vă voi smulge din țara Mea, pe care v-am dat-o, voi lepăda de la Mine casa aceasta pe care am închinat-o Numelui Meu și o voi face de pomină și de batjocură printre toate popoarele. 21 Și, cât de înaltă este casa aceasta, oricine va trece pe lângă ea va rămâne încremenit și va zice: ‘Pentru ce*Deut. 29:24.Ier. 22:8,9. a făcut Domnul așa țării și casei acesteia?’ 22 Și se va răspunde: ‘Pentru că au părăsit pe Domnul Dumnezeul părinților lor, care i-a scos din țara Egiptului, pentru că s-au alipit de alți dumnezei, s-au închinat înaintea lor și le-au slujit; iată de ce a trimis peste ei toate aceste rele.’"
