1 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And Jehovah sent against him bands of the Chaldeans, and bands of the Syrians, and bands of the Moabites, and bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake by his servants the prophets. 3 Surely at the commandment of Jehovah came this upon Judah, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he did, 4 and also for the innocent blood that he shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood: and Jehovah would not pardon. 5 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 6 So Jehoiakim slept with his fathers; and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead. 7 And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land; for the king of Babylon had taken, from the brook of Egypt unto the river Euphrates, all that pertained to the king of Egypt.

8 Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned in Jerusalem three months: and his mother’s name was Nehushta the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem. 9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his father had done.

10 At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged. 11 And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came unto the city, while his servants were besieging it; 12 and Jehoiachin the king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his officers: and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign. 13 And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king’s house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold, which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Jehovah, as Jehovah had said. 14 And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and the smiths; none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land. 15 And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon; and the king’s mother, and the king’s wives, and his officers, and the chief men of the land, carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon. 16 And all the men of might, even seven thousand, and the craftsmen and the smiths a thousand, all of them strong and apt for war, even them the king of Babylon brought captive to Babylon. 17 And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s father’s brother, king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.

18 Zedekiah was twenty and one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 19 And he did that which was evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 20 For through the anger of Jehovah did it come to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence.

And Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.

De aceea, lucrul acesta Domnul n-a vrut să-l ierte. 5 Celelalte fapte ale lui Ioiachim și tot ce a făcut el nu sunt scrise oare în Cartea Cronicilor împăraților lui Iuda? 6 Ioiachim a adormit*2 Cron. 36:6,8.Ier. 22:18,19;36:30. cu părinții săi. Și în locul lui a domnit fiul său Ioiachin. 7 Împăratul*Ier. 37:5,7. Egiptului n-a mai ieșit din țara lui, căci împăratul*Ier. 46:2. Babilonului luase tot ce era al împăratului Egiptului, de la pârâul Egiptului până la râul Eufrat.

8 Ioiachin avea optsprezece*2 Cron. 36:9. ani când a ajuns împărat și a domnit trei luni la Ierusalim. Mama sa se chema Nehușta, fata lui Elnatan, din Ierusalim. 9 El a făcut ce este rău înaintea Domnului, întocmai cum făcuse tatăl său. 10 În vremea aceea*Dan. 1:1., slujitorii lui Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, s-au suit împotriva Ierusalimului, și cetatea a fost împresurată. 11 Nebucadnețar, împăratul Babilonului, a venit înaintea cetății pe când o împresurau slujitorii lui. 12 Atunci, Ioiachin, împăratul lui Iuda, s-a dus*Ier. 24:1;29:1,2.Ezec. 17:12. la împăratul Babilonului cu mama sa, cu slujitorii, căpeteniile și dregătorii lui. Și împăratul*Ier. 25:1. Babilonului l-a luat prins*Cap. 25:27. în al optulea an*Ier. 52:28. al domniei lui. 13 A luat*Cap. 20:17.Is. 39:6. de acolo toate vistieriile Casei Domnului și vistieriile casei împăratului și a sfărâmat*Dan. 5:2,3. toate vasele de aur pe care le făcuse Solomon, împăratul lui Israel, în Templul Domnului, cum*Ier. 20:5. spusese Domnul. 14 A dus*Ier. 24:1. în robie tot Ierusalimul, toate căpeteniile și toți oamenii viteji, în număr de zece*Ier. 52:28. mii, cu toți teslarii*1 Sam. 13:19,22. și fierarii; n-a mai rămas decât poporul*Cap. 25:12.Ier. 40:7. sărac al țării. 15 A strămutat*2 Cron. 36:10.Est. 2:6.Ier. 22:24. pe Ioiachin la Babilon și a dus robi din Ierusalim la Babilon: pe mama împăratului, pe nevestele împăratului și pe dregătorii lui și pe mai-marii țării, 16 pe toți*Ier. 52:28. războinicii, în număr de șapte mii, și pe teslari și fierari în număr de o mie, toți numai oameni viteji și buni pentru război. Împăratul Babilonului i-a luat robi în Babilon. 17 Și împăratul*Ier. 37:1. Babilonului a pus împărat, în locul lui Ioiachin, pe unchiul*1 Cron. 3:15.2 Cron. 36:10. său Matania, căruia i-a schimbat*Cap. 23:34.2 Cron. 36:4. numele în Zedechia.

18 Zedechia avea douăzeci și unu de ani*2 Cron. 36:11.Ier. 37:1;52:1. când a ajuns împărat și a domnit unsprezece ani la Ierusalim. Mama sa se chema Hamutal*Cap. 23:31., fata lui Ieremia, din Libna. 19 El a făcut ce este rău*2 Cron. 36:12. înaintea Domnului, întocmai cum făcuse Ioiachim. 20 Și lucrul acesta s-a întâmplat din pricina mâniei Domnului împotriva Ierusalimului și împotriva lui Iuda, pe care voia să-i lepede dinaintea Lui. Și Zedechia*2 Cron. 36:13.Ezec. 17:15. s-a răsculat împotriva împăratului Babilonului.
