1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake? 2 And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba, and they called him unto David; and the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he. 3 And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, who is lame of his feet. 4 And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar. 5 Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar. 6 And Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came unto David, and fell on his face, and did obeisance. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold, thy servant! 7 And David said unto him, Fear not; for I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. 8 And he did obeisance, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

9 Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, All that pertained to Saul and to all his house have I given unto thy master’s son. 10 And thou shalt till the land for him, thou, and thy sons, and thy servants; and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have bread to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. 11 Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king commandeth his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons. 12 And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Mica. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth. 13 So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem; for he did eat continually at the king’s table. And he was lame in both his feet.

Împăratul i-a zis: „Tu ești Țiba?" Și el a răspuns: „Robul tău, da!" 3 Împăratul a zis: „Nu mai este nimeni din casa lui Saul, ca să mă port cu el cu o bunătate ca bunătatea*1 Sam. 20:14. lui Dumnezeu?" Și Țiba a răspuns împăratului: „Mai este un fiu al lui Ionatan, olog*Cap. 4:4. de picioare." 4 Împăratul a zis: „Unde este?" Și Țiba a răspuns împăratului: „Este în casa lui Machir*Cap. 17:27., fiul lui Amiel, la Lodebar." 5 Împăratul David l-a trimis să-l ia din casa lui Machir, fiul lui Amiel, din Lodebar. 6 Și Mefiboșet, fiul lui Ionatan, fiul lui Saul, a venit la David, a căzut cu fața la pământ și s-a închinat. David a zis: „Mefiboșet!" Și el a răspuns: „Iată robul tău!" 7 David i-a zis: „Nu te teme, căci vreau să-ți fac bine*Vers. 1,3. din pricina tatălui tău Ionatan. Îți voi da înapoi toate pământurile tatălui tău Saul, și vei mânca totdeauna la masa mea." 8 El s-a închinat și a zis: „Cine este robul tău, ca să te uiți la un câine mort*1 Sam. 24:14. Cap. 16:9. ca mine?" 9 Împăratul a chemat pe Țiba, slujbașul lui Saul, și i-a zis: „Dau fiului stăpânului tău tot ce*Cap. 16:4;19:29. era al lui Saul și tot ce avea toată casa lui. 10 Tu să lucrezi pământurile pentru el, tu, fiii tăi și robii tăi, și să strângi roadele, ca fiul stăpânului tău să aibă pâine de mâncare, și Mefiboșet, fiul stăpânului tău, va mânca*Vers. 7,11,13. Cap. 19:28. totdeauna la masa mea." Și Țiba avea*Cap. 19:17. cincisprezece fii și douăzeci de robi. 11 El a zis împăratului: „Robul tău va face tot ce poruncește împăratul, domnul meu, robului său." Și Mefiboșet a mâncat la masa lui David, ca unul din fiii împăratului. 12 Mefiboșet avea un fiu mic, numit*1 Cron. 8:34. Mica, și toți cei ce locuiau în casa lui Țiba erau robii lui Mefiboșet. 13 Mefiboșet locuia la Ierusalim, căci mânca*Vers. 7,10. totdeauna la masa împăratului. El era olog*Vers. 3. de amândouă picioarele.
