1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines.

2 And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

3 David smote also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River. 4 And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots. 5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

9 And when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer, 10 then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: 11 these also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued; 12 of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men. 14 And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

15 And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. 16 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 17 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe; 18 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.

Ps. 60, titlu., când s-a dus să-și așeze iarăși stăpânirea*Gen. 15:18. peste râul Eufrat. 4 David i-a luat o mie șapte sute de călăreți și douăzeci de mii de pedeștri; a tăiat*Ios. 11:6,9. vinele cailor de trăsură și n-a păstrat cai decât pentru o sută de care. 5 Sirienii*1 Împ. 11:23-25. din Damasc au venit în ajutorul lui Hadadezer, împăratul din Țoba, și David a ucis douăzeci și două de mii de sirieni. 6 David a pus strajă în Siria Damascului. Și sirienii au fost*Vers. 2. supuși lui David și i-au plătit un bir. Domnul ocrotea*Vers. 14. Cap. 7:9. pe David oriunde se ducea. 7 Și David a luat*1 Împ. 10:16. scuturile de aur pe care le aveau slujitorii lui Hadadezer și le-a adus la Ierusalim. 8 Împăratul David a mai luat multă aramă din Betah și din Berotai, cetățile lui Hadadezer. 9 Toi, împăratul Hamatului, a auzit că David bătuse toată oștirea lui Hadadezer 10 și a trimis pe fiul său Ioram*1 Cron. 18:10. la împăratul David, ca să-i ureze de bine și să-l laude că a pornit lupta împotriva lui Hadadezer și că l-a bătut. Căci Toi era în război cu Hadadezer. Ioram a adus vase de argint, vase de aur și vase de aramă. 11 Împăratul David le-a închinat*1 Împ. 7:51.1 Cron. 18:11;26:26. Domnului, cum închinase și argintul și aurul luate de la toate neamurile pe care le biruise, 12 din Siria, din Moab, de la fiii lui Amon, de la filisteni, de la Amalec și din prada de la Hadadezer, fiul lui Rehob, împăratul din Țoba. 13 La întoarcerea de la biruința lui asupra sirienilor, David și-a făcut iarăși un nume bătând în Valea Sării*1 Cron. 18:12. Ps. 60, titlu. optsprezece*2 Împ. 14:7. mii de edomiți. 14 A pus străji în Edom, a pus străji în tot*Gen. 27:29,37,40.Num. 24:18. Edomul. Și tot Edomul a fost supus lui David. Domnul ocrotea*Vers. 6. pe David pretutindeni pe unde mergea.

15 David a împărățit peste Israel și făcea judecată și dreptate la tot poporul lui. 16 Ioab*Cap. 19:13;20:23.1 Cron. 11:6;18:15., fiul Țeruiei, era mai-mare peste oștire; Iosafat*1 Împ. 4:3., fiul lui Ahilud, era mai-mare peste scriitori; 17 Țadoc*1 Cron. 24:3., fiul lui Ahitub, și Ahimelec, fiul lui Abiatar, erau preoți; Seraia era logofăt; 18 Benaia*1 Cron. 18:17., fiul lui Iehoiada, era căpetenia cheretiților*1 Sam. 30:14. și a peletiților; și fiii lui David erau mari dregători.
