1 And David spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul: 2 and he said,

Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine;

3 God, my rock, in him will I take refuge;

My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge;

My saviour, thou savest me from violence.

4 I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised:

So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

5 For the waves of death compassed me;

The floods of ungodliness made me afraid:

6 The cords of Sheol were round about me;

The snares of death came upon me.

7 In my distress I called upon Jehovah;

Yea, I called unto my God:

And he heard my voice out of his temple,

And my cry came into his ears.

8 Then the earth shook and trembled,

The foundations of heaven quaked

And were shaken, because he was wroth.

9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils,

And fire out of his mouth devoured:

Coals were kindled by it.

10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down;

And thick darkness was under his feet.

11 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly;

Yea, he was seen upon the wings of the wind.

12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him,

Gathering of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

13 At the brightness before him

Coals of fire were kindled.

14 Jehovah thundered from heaven,

And the Most High uttered his voice.

15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them;

Lightning, and discomfited them.

16 Then the channels of the sea appeared,

The foundations of the world were laid bare,

By the rebuke of Jehovah,

At the blast of the breath of his nostrils.

17 He sent from on high, he took me;

He drew me out of many waters;

18 He delivered me from my strong enemy,

From them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.

19 They came upon me in the day of my calamity;

But Jehovah was my stay.

20 He brought me forth also into a large place;

He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

21 Jehovah rewarded me according to my righteousness;

According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

22 For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,

And have not wickedly departed from my God.

23 For all his ordinances were before me;

And as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.

24 I was also perfect toward him;

And I kept myself from mine iniquity.

25 Therefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness,

According to my cleanness in his eyesight.

26 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful;

With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;

27 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure;

And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.

28 And the afflicted people thou wilt save;

But thine eyes are upon the haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.

29 For thou art my lamp, O Jehovah;

And Jehovah will lighten my darkness.

30 For by thee I run upon a troop;

By my God do I leap over a wall.

31 As for God, his way is perfect:

The word of Jehovah is tried;

He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

32 For who is God, save Jehovah?

And who is a rock, save our God?

33 God is my strong fortress;

And he guideth the perfect in his way.

34 He maketh his feet like hinds’ feet,

And setteth me upon my high places.

35 He teacheth my hands to war,

So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.

36 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation;

And thy gentleness hath made me great.

37 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me;

And my feet have not slipped.

38 I have pursued mine enemies, and destroyed them;

Neither did I turn again till they were consumed.

39 And I have consumed them, and smitten them through, so that they cannot arise:

Yea, they are fallen under my feet.

40 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle;

Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

41 Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me,

That I might cut off them that hate me.

42 They looked, but there was none to save;

Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.

43 Then did I beat them small as the dust of the earth,

I did crush them as the mire of the streets, and did spread them abroad.

44 Thou also hast delivered me from the strivings of my people;

Thou hast kept me to be the head of the nations:

A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

45 The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me:

As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me.

46 The foreigners shall fade away,

And shall come trembling out of their close places.

47 Jehovah liveth; And blessed be my rock;

And exalted be God, the rock of my salvation,

48 Even the God that executeth vengeance for me,

And that bringeth down peoples under me,

49 And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies:

Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me;

Thou deliverest me from the violent man.

50 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations,

And will sing praises unto thy name.

51 Great deliverance giveth he to his king,

And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed,

To David and to his seed, for evermore.

2 El a zis:

„Domnul*Deut. 32:4.Ps. 18:2;31:3;71:3;91:2;144:2. este stânca mea, cetățuia mea, Izbăvitorul meu.

3 Dumnezeu este stânca mea

la care*Evr. 2:13. găsesc un adăpost,

scutul*Gen. 15:1. meu și puterea*Luca 1:69. care mă mântuiește,

turnul*Prov. 18:10. meu cel înalt și scăparea*Ps. 9:9;14:6;59:16;71:7.Ier. 16:19. mea.

Mântuitorule, Tu mă scapi de silnicie!

4 Eu chem pe Domnul cel vrednic de laudă și sunt izbăvit de vrăjmașii mei.

5 Căci valurile morții mă înconjuraseră,

șuvoaiele nimicirii mă înspăimântaseră,

6 legăturile*Ps. 116:3. mormântului mă înconjuraseră,

lațurile morții mă prinseseră.

7 În strâmtorarea mea, am chemat*Ps. 116:4;120:1.Iona 2:2. pe Domnul,

am chemat pe Dumnezeul meu;

din locașul Lui, El mi-a auzit*Exod 3:7.Ps. 34:6,15,17. glasul și strigătul meu a ajuns la urechile Lui.

8 Atunci, pământul s-a cutremurat*Jud. 5:4.Ps. 77:18;97:4. și s-a clătinat,

temeliile*Iov 26:11. cerului s-au mișcat

și s-au zguduit, pentru că El Se mâniase.

9 Fum se ridica din nările Lui

și un foc*Ps. 97:3.Hab. 3:5.Evr. 12:29. mistuitor ieșea din gura Lui:

cărbuni aprinși țâșneau din ea.

10 A plecat*Ps. 144:5.Is. 64:1. cerurile și S-a coborât:

un nor gros*Exod 20:21.1 Împ. 8:12.Ps. 97:2. era sub picioarele Lui.

11 Călărea pe un heruvim și zbura, venea pe aripile*Ps. 104:3. vântului;

12 era înconjurat cu întunericul*Vers. 10.Ps. 97:2. ca și cu un cort,

era înconjurat cu grămezi de ape și cu nori întunecoși.

13 Din strălucirea care era înaintea Lui

scânteiau cărbuni*Vers. 9. de foc.

14 Domnul a tunat*Jud. 5:20.1 Sam. 2:10;7:10.Ps. 29:3.Is. 30:30. din ceruri,

Cel Preaînalt a făcut să-I răsune glasul;

15 a aruncat săgeți*Deut. 32:23.Ps. 7:13;77:17;144:6.Hab. 3:11. și a risipit pe vrăjmașii mei,

a aruncat fulgerul și i-a pus pe fugă.

16 Fundul mării s-a văzut,

temeliile lumii au fost descoperite

de mustrarea*Exod 15:8.Ps. 106:9.Naum 1:4.Mat. 8:26. Domnului,

de vuietul suflării nărilor Lui.

17 El*Ps. 144:7. Și-a întins mâna de sus, din înălțime, m-a apucat,

m-a scos din apele cele mari;

18 m-a izbăvit*Vers. 1. de potrivnicul meu cel puternic,

de vrăjmașii mei,

care erau mai tari decât mine.

19 Ei mă prinseseră în ziua strâmtorării mele,

dar Domnul a fost sprijinitorul meu,

20 El m-a scos la loc*Ps. 31:8;118:5. larg.

El m-a mântuit, pentru că mă*Cap. 15:26.Ps. 22:8. iubește.

21 Domnul mi-a*Vers. 25.1 Sam. 26:23.1 Împ. 8:32.Ps. 7:8. răsplătit după nevinovăția mea,

mi-a făcut după curăția*Ps. 24:4. mâinilor mele;

22 căci am păzit*Gen. 18:19.Ps. 119:3;128:1.Prov. 8:32. căile Domnului,

nu m-am făcut vinovat față de Dumnezeul meu.

23 Toate poruncile*Deut. 7:12.Ps. 119:30,102. Lui au fost*Gen. 6:9;17:1.Iov 1:1. înaintea mea

și nu m-am depărtat de la legile Lui.

24 Am fost fără vină înaintea Lui, m-am păzit de fărădelegea mea.

25 De aceea, Domnul mi-a răsplătit nevinovăția*Vers. 21. mea

după curăția mea înaintea Lui.

26 Cu cel bun*Mat. 5:7. Tu ești bun,

cu omul drept Te porți după dreptate,

27 cu cel curat ești curat,

cu cel îndărătnic*Lev. 26:23,24,27,28. Te porți după îndărătnicia lui.

28 Tu mântuiești pe poporul*Exod 3:7,8.Ps. 72:12,13. care se smerește,

și cu privirea Ta

cobori pe cei mândri*Iov 40:11,12.Is. 2:11,12,17;5:15.Dan. 4:37..

29 Da, Tu ești lumina mea, Doamne!

Domnul luminează întunericul meu.

30 Cu Tine mă năpustesc asupra unei oști înarmate,

cu Dumnezeul meu sar peste zid.

31 Căile lui Dumnezeu sunt*Deut. 32:4.Dan. 4:37.Apoc. 15:3. desăvârșite,

Cuvântul Domnului este*Ps. 12:6;119:140.Prov. 30:5. curățit;

El este un scut pentru toți cei ce caută adăpost în El.

32 Căci cine*1 Sam. 2:2.Is. 45:5,6. este Dumnezeu, afară de Domnul?

Și cine este o stâncă, afară de Dumnezeul nostru?

33 Dumnezeu este cetățuia mea*Exod 15:2.Ps. 27:1;28:7,8;31:4.Is. 12:2. cea tare

și El mă călăuzește pe*Evr. 13:21. calea cea dreaptă*Deut. 18:13.Iov 22:3.Ps. 101:2,6;119:1..

34 El îmi face picioarele ca*Cap. 2:18.Hab. 3:19. ale cerboaicelor

și El mă așază pe locurile mele cele înalte*Deut. 32:13.Is. 33:16;58:14..

35 Îmi*Ps. 144:1. deprinde mâinile la luptă

și brațele mele întind arcul de aramă.

36 Tu îmi dai scutul mântuirii Tale

și ajung mare prin bunătatea Ta.

37 Lărgești*Prov. 4:12. drumul sub pașii mei

și picioarele mele nu se clatină.

38 Urmăresc pe vrăjmașii mei și-i nimicesc,

nu mă întorc până nu-i nimicesc.

39 Îi nimicesc, îi zdrobesc, de nu se mai scoală;

cad*Mal. 4:3. sub picioarele mele.

40 Tu mă încingi*Ps. 18:32,39. cu putere pentru luptă,

răpui sub mine pe potrivnicii*Ps. 44:5. mei.

41 Faci pe vrăjmașii mei să dea dosul*Gen. 49:8.Exod 23:27.Ios. 10:24. înaintea mea

și nimicesc pe cei ce mă urăsc.

42 Se uită în jurul lor și nu-i cine să-i scape.

Strigă către Domnul*Iov 27:9.Prov. 1:28.Is. 1:15.Mica 3:4., dar nu le răspunde!

43 Îi pisez ca*2 Împ. 13:7.Ps. 35:5.Dan. 2:35. pulberea pământului,

îi zdrobesc, îi calc în picioare, ca noroiul*Is. 10:6.Mica 7:10.Zah. 10:5. de pe ulițe.

44 Mă scapi*Cap. 3:1;5:1;19:9,14;20:1,2,22. din neînțelegerile poporului meu;

mă păstrezi drept căpetenie*Deut. 28:13. Cap. 8:1-14.Ps. 2:8. a neamurilor;

un popor*Is. 55:5. pe care nu-l cunoșteam îmi este supus.

45 Fiii străinului mă lingușesc; mă ascultă la cea dintâi poruncă.

46 Fiii străinului leșină de la inimă,

tremură când ies din*Mica 7:17. cetățuie.

47 Trăiască Domnul

și binecuvântată să fie Stânca mea!

Înălțat să fie Dumnezeu, Stânca mântuirii*Ps. 89:26. mele,

48 Dumnezeu, care este răzbunătorul meu,

care-mi supune*Ps. 144:2. popoarele

49 și care mă face să scap de vrăjmașii mei!

Tu mă înalți mai presus de potrivnicii mei,

mă izbăvești de omul*Ps. 140:1. asupritor.

50 De aceea Te voi lăuda printre*Rom. 15:9. neamuri, Doamne,

și voi cânta spre slava Numelui Tău!

51 El dă*Ps. 144:10. mari izbăviri împăratului Său

și arată milă unsului*Ps. 89:20. Său:

lui David și seminței*Cap. 7:12,13.Ps. 89:29. lui pentru totdeauna."
