1 And he said unto Moses, Come up unto Jehovah, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off: 2 and Moses alone shall come near unto Jehovah; but they shall not come near; neither shall the people go up with him. 3 And Moses came and told the people all the words of Jehovah, and all the ordinances: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which Jehovah hath spoken will we do. 4 And Moses wrote all the words of Jehovah, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the mount, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel. 5 And he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered burnt-offerings, and sacrificed peace-offerings of oxen unto Jehovah. 6 And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basins; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar. 7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that Jehovah hath spoken will we do, and be obedient. 8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which Jehovah hath made with you concerning all these words.

9 Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel: 10 and they saw the God of Israel; and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and as it were the very heaven for clearness. 11 And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: and they beheld God, and did eat and drink.

12 And Jehovah said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee the tables of stone, and the law and the commandment, which I have written, that thou mayest teach them. 13 And Moses rose up, and Joshua his minister: and Moses went up into the mount of God. 14 And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: whosoever hath a cause, let him come near unto them. 15 And Moses went up into the mount, and the cloud covered the mount. 16 And the glory of Jehovah abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 And the appearance of the glory of Jehovah was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel. 18 And Moses entered into the midst of the cloud, and went up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.

1 Dumnezeu a zis lui Moise: „Suie-te la Domnul, tu și Aaron, Nadab*Cap. 28:1.Lev. 10:1,2. și Abihu și*Cap. 1:5.Num. 11:16. șaptezeci de bătrâni ai lui Israel și să vă închinați de departe, aruncându-vă cu fața la pământ. 2 Numai Moise să se apropie*Vers. 13,15,18. de Domnul; ceilalți să nu se apropie și poporul să nu se suie cu el." 3 Moise a venit și a spus poporului toate cuvintele Domnului și toate legile. Tot poporul a răspuns într-un glas: „Vom face tot*Vers. 7. Cap. 19:8.Deut. 5:27.Gal. 3:19,20. ce a zis Domnul." 4 Moise a*Deut. 31:9. scris toate cuvintele Domnului. Apoi s-a sculat dis-de-dimineață, a zidit un altar la poalele muntelui și a ridicat douăsprezece pietre*Gen. 28:18;31:45. pentru cele douăsprezece seminții ale lui Israel. 5 A trimis pe niște tineri dintre copiii lui Israel, să aducă Domnului arderi-de-tot și să înjunghie tauri ca jertfe de mulțumire. 6 Moise a luat jumătate*Evr. 9:18. din sânge și l-a pus în străchini, iar cealaltă jumătate a stropit-o pe altar. 7 A luat*Evr. 9:19. cartea legământului și a citit-o în fața poporului. Ei au zis: „Vom face și vom asculta tot*Vers. 3. ce a zis Domnul." 8 Moise a luat sângele și a stropit poporul, zicând: „Iată*Evr. 9:20;13:20.1 Pet. 1:2. sângele legământului pe care l-a făcut Domnul cu voi pe temeiul tuturor acestor cuvinte."

9 Moise*Vers. 1. s-a suit împreună cu Aaron, Nadab și Abihu și cu șaptezeci de bătrâni ai lui Israel. 10 Ei au*Gen. 32:30. Cap. 3:6.Jud. 13:22.Is. 6:1,5. Cap. 33:20,23.Ioan 1:18.1 Tim. 6:16.1 Ioan 4:12. văzut pe Dumnezeul lui Israel; sub picioarele Lui era un fel de lucrare de safir*Ezec. 1:26;10:1.Apoc. 4:3. străveziu, întocmai*Mat. 17:2. ca cerul în curăția lui. 11 El nu Și-a întins*Cap. 19:21. mâna împotriva aleșilor copiilor lui Israel. Ei au*Gen. 16:13;32:30. Vers. 10. Cap. 33:20.Deut. 4:33.Jud. 13:22. văzut pe Dumnezeu, și totuși au*Gen. 31:54. Cap. 18:12.1 Cor. 10:18. mâncat și au băut.

12 Domnul a zis lui Moise: „Suie-te*Vers. 2,15,18. la Mine pe munte și rămâi acolo. Eu îți voi da niște table*Cap. 31:18;32:15,16.Deut. 5:22. de piatră cu Legea și poruncile pe care le-am scris pentru învățătura lor." 13 Moise s-a sculat, împreună cu Iosua, care-i*Cap. 32:17;33:11. slujea, și Moise s-a*Vers. 2. suit pe muntele lui Dumnezeu. 14 El a zis bătrânilor: „Așteptați-ne aici până ne vom întoarce la voi. Iată, Aaron și Hur vor rămâne cu voi; dacă va avea cineva vreo neînțelegere, să meargă la ei." 15 Moise s-a suit pe munte, și norul*Cap. 19:9,16.Mat. 17:5. a acoperit muntele. 16 Slava*Cap. 16:10.Num. 14:10. Domnului s-a așezat pe muntele Sinai și norul l-a acoperit timp de șase zile. În ziua a șaptea, Domnul a chemat pe Moise din mijlocul norului. 17 Înfățișarea slavei Domnului era ca un foc*Cap. 3:2;19:18.Deut. 4:36.Evr. 12:18,29. mistuitor pe vârful muntelui, înaintea copiilor lui Israel. 18 Moise a intrat în mijlocul norului și s-a suit pe munte. Moise*Cap. 34:28.Deut. 9:9. a rămas pe munte patruzeci de zile și patruzeci de nopți.
