1 Again the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations; 3 and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah unto Jerusalem: Thy birth and thy nativity is of the land of the Canaanite; the Amorite was thy father, and thy mother was a Hittite. 4 And as for thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to cleanse thee; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all. 5 No eye pitied thee, to do any of these things unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, for that thy person was abhorred, in the day that thou wast born.

6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee weltering in thy blood, I said unto thee, Though thou art in thy blood, live; yea, I said unto thee, Though thou art in thy blood, live. 7 I caused thee to multiply as that which groweth in the field, and thou didst increase and wax great, and thou attainedst to excellent ornament; thy breasts were fashioned, and thy hair was grown; yet thou wast naked and bare. 8 Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord Jehovah, and thou becamest mine. 9 Then washed I thee with water; yea, I thoroughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil. 10 I clothed thee also with broidered work, and shod thee with sealskin, and I girded thee about with fine linen, and covered thee with silk. 11 And I decked thee with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck. 12 And I put a ring upon thy nose, and ear-rings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thy head. 13 Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil; and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper unto royal estate. 14 And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

15 But thou didst trust in thy beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy whoredoms on every one that passed by; his it was. 16 And thou didst take of thy garments, and madest for thee high places decked with divers colors, and playedst the harlot upon them: the like things shall not come, neither shall it be so. 17 Thou didst also take thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest for thee images of men, and didst play the harlot with them; 18 and thou tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them, and didst set mine oil and mine incense before them. 19 My bread also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, wherewith I fed thee, thou didst even set it before them for a sweet savor; and thus it was, saith the Lord Jehovah. 20 Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. Were thy whoredoms a small matter, 21 that thou hast slain my children, and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through the fire unto them? 22 And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, and wast weltering in thy blood.

23 And it is come to pass after all thy wickedness (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord Jehovah), 24 that thou hast built unto thee a vaulted place, and hast made thee a lofty place in every street. 25 Thou hast built thy lofty place at the head of every way, and hast made thy beauty an abomination, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredom. 26 Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians, thy neighbors, great of flesh; and hast multiplied thy whoredom, to provoke me to anger. 27 Behold therefore, I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary food, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, that are ashamed of thy lewd way. 28 Thou hast played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because thou wast insatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet thou wast not satisfied. 29 Thou hast moreover multiplied thy whoredom unto the land of traffic, unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.

30 How weak is thy heart, saith the Lord Jehovah, seeing thou doest all these things, the work of an impudent harlot; 31 in that thou buildest thy vaulted place at the head of every way, and makest thy lofty place in every street, and hast not been as a harlot, in that thou scornest hire. 32 A wife that committeth adultery! that taketh strangers instead of her husband! 33 They give gifts to all harlots; but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and bribest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredoms. 34 And thou art different from other women in thy whoredoms, in that none followeth thee to play the harlot; and whereas thou givest hire, and no hire is given unto thee, therefore thou art different.

35 Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of Jehovah: 36 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness uncovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers; and because of all the idols of thy abominations, and for the blood of thy children, that thou didst give unto them; 37 therefore behold, I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them against thee on every side, and will uncover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness. 38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring upon thee the blood of wrath and jealousy. 39 I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thy vaulted place, and break down thy lofty places; and they shall strip thee of thy clothes, and take thy fair jewels; and they shall leave thee naked and bare. 40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords. 41 And they shall burn thy houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women; and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou shalt also give no hire any more. 42 So will I cause my wrath toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. 43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring thy way upon thy head, saith the Lord Jehovah: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness with all thine abominations.

44 Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use this proverb against thee, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter. 45 Thou art the daughter of thy mother, that loatheth her husband and her children; and thou art the sister of thy sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children: your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite. 46 And thine elder sister is Samaria, that dwelleth at thy left hand, she and her daughters; and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. 47 Yet hast thou not walked in their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as if that were a very little thing, thou wast more corrupt than they in all thy ways. 48 As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. 49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. 51 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters by all thine abominations which thou hast done. 52 Thou also, bear thou thine own shame, in that thou hast given judgment for thy sisters; through thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou also confounded, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.

53 And I will turn again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them; 54 that thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be ashamed because of all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them. 55 And thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate; and thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate. 56 For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride, 57 before thy wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, that do despite unto thee round about. 58 Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith Jehovah. 59 For thus saith the Lord Jehovah: I will also deal with thee as thou hast done, who hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.

60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant. 61 Then shalt thou remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder sisters and thy younger; and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant. 62 And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I am Jehovah; 63 that thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more, because of thy shame, when I have forgiven thee all that thou hast done, saith the Lord Jehovah.

1 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 2 „Fiul omului, arată*Cap. 20:4;22:2;36:7-9. Ierusalimului urâciunile lui 3 și spune-i: ‘Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu către cetatea Ierusalimului: «Prin obârșia și nașterea*Cap. 21:30. ta ești din țara canaaniților; tatăl*Vers. 45. tău era amorit și mama ta, hetită. 4 La naștere, în ziua*Osea 2:3. când te-ai născut, buricul nu ți s-a tăiat, n-ai fost scăldată în apă, ca să fii curățită, nici n-ai fost frecată cu sare și nici n-ai fost înfășată în scutece. 5 Ochiul nimănui nu s-a îndurat de tine ca să-ți facă măcar unul din aceste lucruri din milă pentru tine, ci ai fost aruncată pe câmp, așa de scârbă le era de tine în ziua nașterii tale. 6 Atunci, Eu am trecut pe lângă tine, te-am văzut tăvălită în sângele tău și am zis: ‹Trăiește chiar și în sângele tău!› Da, ți-am zis: ‹Trăiește chiar și în sângele tău!› 7 Te-am înmulțit*Exod 1:7. cu zecile de mii, ca iarba de pe câmp. Și ai crescut, te-ai făcut mare, ai ajuns de o frumusețe desăvârșită, ți s-au rotunjit țâțele, ți-a crescut părul. Dar erai tot goală, goală de tot. 8 Când am trecut Eu pe lângă tine, M-am uitat la tine și iată că îți venise vremea, vremea dragostei. Atunci am întins peste tine poala*Rut 3:9. hainei Mele, ți-am acoperit goliciunea, ți-am jurat credință, am făcut legământ cu tine», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «și ai fost*Exod 19:5.Ier. 2:2. a Mea! 9 Te-am scăldat în apă, te-am spălat de sângele de pe tine și te-am uns cu untdelemn. 10 Ți-am dat haine cusute cu fir și o încălțăminte de piele de vițel de mare, te-am încins cu in subțire și te-am îmbrăcat în mătase. 11 Te-am împodobit cu scule scumpe, ți-am pus brățări*Gen. 24:22,47. la mână și o salbă*Prov. 1:9. la gât; 12 ți-am pus o verigă în nas, cercei în urechi și o cunună minunată pe cap. 13 Astfel, ai fost împodobită cu aur și cu argint și ai fost îmbrăcată cu in subțire, cu mătase și cusături cu fir. Ai mâncat*Deut. 32:13,14. floarea făinii, miere și untdelemn. Erai de o frumusețe desăvârșită*Ps. 48:2., ba ajunseseși chiar împărăteasă. 14 Ți s-a dus vestea*Plâng. 2:15. printre neamuri pentru frumusețea ta, căci era desăvârșită de tot datorită strălucirii cu care te împodobisem», zice Domnul Dumnezeu. 15 «Dar te-ai încrezut*Deut. 32:15.Ier. 7:4.Mica 3:11. în frumusețea ta și ai*Is. 1:21;57:8.Ier. 2:20;3:2,6,20. Cap. 23:3,8,11,12.Osea 1:2. curvit la adăpostul numelui tău celui mare; ți-ai revărsat curviile înaintea tuturor trecătorilor și te-ai dat lor. 16 Ai luat*2 Împ. 23:7. Cap. 7:20.Osea 2:8. și din hainele tale, ți-ai făcut înălțimi pe care le-ai împodobit cu toate culorile și ai curvit pe ele: așa cum nu s-a întâmplat și nici nu se va mai întâmpla vreodată. 17 Ți-ai luat până și minunatele tale podoabe de aur și de argint pe care ți le dădusem și ți-ai făcut niște chipuri de bărbați cu care ai curvit. 18 Ți-ai luat și hainele cusute la gherghef, le-ai îmbrăcat cu ele și ai adus acestor chipuri untdelemnul Meu și tămâia Mea. 19 Pâinea*Osea 2:8. pe care ți-o dădusem, floarea făinii, untdelemnul și mierea cu care te hrăneam, le-ai adus înaintea lor ca niște tămâie cu un miros plăcut. Iată ce s-a întâmplat», zice Domnul Dumnezeu! 20 «Apoi ți-ai*2 Împ. 16:3.Ps. 106:37,38.Is. 57:5.Ier. 7:31;32:35. Cap. 20:26;23:37. luat fiii și fiicele pe care Mi-i născuseși și i-ai jertfit lor, ca să le slujească de mâncare. Nu erau oare de ajuns curviile tale, 21 de Mi-ai mai înjunghiat fiii și i-ai dat, trecându-i prin foc în cinstea lor? 22 Și, în mijlocul tuturor urâciunilor și curviilor tale, nu ți-ai adus aminte de vremea tinereții*Ier. 2:2. Vers. 43,60.Osea 11:1. tale, când erai goală*Vers. 4-6., goală de tot, și te zbăteai în sângele tău! 23 După toate aceste răutăți ale tale (‹Vai, vai de tine!›, zice Domnul Dumnezeu), 24 ți-ai zidit*Vers. 31. case de curvie, ți-ai făcut*Is. 57:5,7.Ier. 2:20;3:2. înălțimi în toate piețele. 25 La toate colțurile*Prov. 9:14. ulițelor ți-ai făcut înălțimi, ți-ai necinstit frumusețea, ți-ai desfăcut picioarele înaintea tuturor trecătorilor, ai făcut tot mai multe curvii. 26 Ai curvit cu egiptenii*Cap. 8:10,14;20:7,8;23:19-21., vecinii tăi, cu trupul plin de vlagă, și ți-ai înmulțit curviile, ca să Mă mânii. 27 Dar iată că Mi-am întins mâna împotriva ta, am micșorat partea de întreținere pe care ți-o rânduisem, te-am lăsat în voia vrăjmașelor tale, fiicele filistenilor*2 Cron. 28:18,19. Vers. 57., care au roșit de purtarea ta nelegiuită. 28 Apoi ai curvit*2 Împ. 16:7,10.2 Cron. 28:23.Ier. 2:18,36. Cap. 23:12. cu asirienii, pentru că erai fără saț; ai curvit cu ei, și tot nu te-ai săturat. 29 Ți-ai înmulțit curviile cu țara Canaanului și până în Haldeea*Cap. 23:14., dar nici acolo nu te-ai săturat. 30 Ce slăbiciune de inimă ai avut», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «de ai făcut toate aceste lucruri, care sunt fapta unei ibovnice dedate la curvie, 31 zidindu-ți case de curvie*Vers. 24,39. la toate colțurile ulițelor și făcându-ți înălțimi în toate piețele! N-ai fost nici măcar ca o curvă care-și cere plata. 32 Ai fost femeia preacurvă, care primește pe străini în locul bărbatului ei! 33 Tuturor curvelor li se plătește o plată, dar*Is. 30:6.Osea 8:9. tu ai dat daruri tuturor ibovnicilor tăi, i-ai câștigat prin daruri, ca să-i tragi la tine din toate părțile și să curvești cu ei. 34 Ai fost cu totul altfel decât celelalte curve, întrucât nimeni nu umbla după tine, ci tu plăteai celor ce veneau la tine, în loc ca tu să fii plătită de ei. De aceea ai fost cu totul altfel decât altele.» 35 De aceea, ascultă, curvo, cuvântul Domnului! 36 Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Pentru că ți-ai risipit banii în felul acesta și ți-ai descoperit goliciunea în curviile tale cu ibovnicii tăi și cu toți idolii tăi urâcioși și din pricina sângelui*Vers. 20.Ier. 2:34. copiilor tăi, pe care li i-ai dat, 37 de aceea, iată, voi strânge*Ier. 13:22,26.Plâng. 1:8. Cap. 23:9,10,22,29.Osea 2:10;8:10.Naum 3:5. pe toți ibovnicii cu care te dezmierdai, pe toți aceia pe care i-ai iubit și pe toți aceia pe care i-ai urât, da, îi voi strânge împotriva ta din toate părțile, îți voi dezveli goliciunea înaintea lor și îți vor vedea toată goliciunea. 38 Te voi judeca așa cum se judecă femeile preacurve*Lev. 20:10.Deut. 22:22. Cap. 23:45. și ucigătoare de copii și voi face din tine o jertfă sângeroasă*Gen. 9:6.Exod 21:12. Vers. 20,36. a urgiei și geloziei. 39 Te voi da în mâinile lor; îți vor surpa casele*Vers. 24,31. de curvie și îți vor nimici înălțimile; te vor dezbrăca*Cap. 23:26.Osea 2:3. de hainele tale, îți vor lua toată podoaba de pietre scumpe și te vor lăsa goală, goală de tot. 40 Vor aduce*Cap. 23:46,47. gloata împotriva ta, te vor*Ioan 8:5,7. ucide cu pietre și te vor străpunge cu lovituri de sabie. 41 Îți vor arde*Deut. 13:16.2 Împ. 25:9.Ier. 39:8;52:13. casele cu foc și se vor răzbuna pe tine*Cap. 5:8;23:10,48. înaintea unei mulțimi de femei. Voi face să înceteze astfel curvia*Cap. 23:27. ta și nu vei mai da plată de curvă. 42 Îmi voi potoli*Cap. 5:13. mânia împotriva ta și nu voi mai fi gelos pe tine; Mă voi liniști, nu voi mai fi supărat. 43 Pentru că nu ți-ai adus aminte*Ps. 78:42. Vers. 22. de vremea tinereții tale, ci M-ai ațâțat prin toate aceste lucruri, iată, voi face*Cap. 9:10;11:21;22:31. ca purtarea ta să cadă asupra capului tău», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «ca să nu mai săvârșești alte nelegiuiri cu toate urâciunile tale! 44 Iată că toți cei ce spun zicători vor spune despre tine zicătoarea aceasta: ‹Cum este mama, așa și fata!› 45 Tu ești fata mamei tale, care s-a dezgustat de bărbatul și copiii ei. Tu ești sora surorilor tale, care s-au dezgustat de bărbații și copiii lor. Mama voastră era o hetită*Vers. 3. și tatăl vostru, un amorit. 46 Sora ta*Deut. 32:32.Is. 1:10. cea mai mare, care locuiește la miazănoapte de tine, este Samaria, ea și fiicele ei, și sora ta cea mai mică este Sodoma, și fiicele ei, și locuiește la miazăzi de tine. 47 Tu nu numai că ai umblat pe căile lor și ai săvârșit aceleași urâciuni, ci, ca și cum atât ar fi fost prea puțin, ai fost mai stricată*2 Împ. 21:9. Cap. 5:6,7. Vers. 48. decât ele în toate purtările tale. 48 Pe viața Mea», zice Domnul Dumnezeu, «că sora ta Sodoma*Mat. 10:15;11:24. și fiicele ei n-au făcut ce ați făcut voi, tu și fiicele tale. 49 Iată care a fost nelegiuirea surorii tale Sodoma: era îngâmfată, trăia în belșug*Gen. 13:10. și într-o liniște nepăsătoare, ea și fiicele ei, și nu sprijinea mâna celui nenorocit și celui lipsit. 50 Ele s-au semețit și au făcut urâciuni*Gen. 13:13;18:20;19:5. blestemate înaintea Mea, de aceea le-am*Gen. 19:24. și nimicit când am văzut lucrul acesta. 51 Samaria n-a făcut nici jumătate din păcatele tale; urâciunile tale au fost mai multe decât ale ei, așa că ai ușurat*Ier. 3:11.Mat. 12:41,42. vina surorilor tale prin toate urâciunile pe care le-ai făcut acum. 52 Tu, care ușurai vina surorilor tale prin purtarea ta, suferă acum urmările răutății tale; prin păcatele tale, prin care te-ai făcut mai urâcioasă decât ele, acum le faci mai ușoară vina decât a ta, de aceea acoperă-te de rușine și poartă-ți ocara, fiindcă ai ușurat vina surorilor tale! 53 Voi aduce*Is. 1:9. Vers. 60,61. înapoi pe prinșii lor de război, pe prinșii de război ai Sodomei*Ier. 20:16. și ai fiicelor ei, pe prinșii de război ai Samariei și ai fiicelor ei și pe prinșii tăi de război în mijlocul lor, 54 ca să-ți suferi ocara și să roșești pentru tot ce ai făcut, slujindu-le ca o pricină de mângâiere*Cap. 14:22,23.. 55 Astfel, surorile tale: Sodoma și fiicele ei se vor întoarce iarăși la starea lor de mai înainte și Samaria și fiicele ei se vor întoarce iarăși la starea lor de mai înainte, și tu și fiicele tale vă veți întoarce iarăși la starea voastră de mai înainte. 56 Nu vorbeai deloc despre sora ta Sodoma în vremea mândriei tale, 57 mai înainte de vădirea răutății tale, când ai primit batjocurile*2 Împ. 16:5.2 Cron. 28:18.Is. 7:1;14:28. fiicelor Siriei, ale tuturor vecinilor tăi și ale fiicelor filistenilor*Vers. 27., care te disprețuiesc de jur împrejur! 58 Trebuie să-ți porți*Cap. 23:49., în adevăr, nelegiuirile și urâciunile», zice Domnul. 59 Căci așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Îți voi face întocmai cum ai făcut și tu, care ai nesocotit*Cap. 17:13,16. jurământul*Deut. 29:12,14., rupând legământul! 60 Dar Îmi voi aduce aminte*Ps. 106:45. de legământul Meu făcut cu tine în vremea tinereții tale și voi face cu tine un legământ*Ier. 32:40;50:5. veșnic. 61 Atunci îți vei aduce aminte*Cap. 20:43;36:31. de purtarea ta, te vei rușina când vei primi la tine pe surorile tale, mai mari și mai mici, pe care ți le voi da ca fiice*Is. 54:1;60:4.Gal. 4:26., dar*Ier. 31:31. nu pe temeiul legământului făcut cu tine. 62 Voi face*Osea 2:19,20. legământul Meu cu tine și vei ști că Eu sunt Domnul, 63 ca să-ți aduci aminte*Vers. 61. de trecut și să roșești și să nu mai deschizi*Rom. 3:19. gura de rușine când îți voi ierta tot ce ai făcut», zice Domnul Dumnezeu.’"
