1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, set thy face toward the mountains of Israel, and prophesy unto them, 3 and say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord Jehovah: Thus saith the Lord Jehovah to the mountains and to the hills, to the watercourses and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places. 4 And your altars shall become desolate, and your sun-images shall be broken; and I will cast down your slain men before your idols. 5 And I will lay the dead bodies of the children of Israel before their idols; and I will scatter your bones round about your altars. 6 In all your dwelling-places the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your sun-images may be hewn down, and your works may be abolished. 7 And the slain shall fall in the midst of you, and ye shall know that I am Jehovah.

8 Yet will I leave a remnant, in that ye shall have some that escape the sword among the nations, when ye shall be scattered through the countries. 9 And those of you that escape shall remember me among the nations whither they shall be carried captive, how that I have been broken with their lewd heart, which hath departed from me, and with their eyes, which play the harlot after their idols: and they shall loathe themselves in their own sight for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations. 10 And they shall know that I am Jehovah: I have not said in vain that I would do this evil unto them.

11 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Smite with thy hand, and stamp with thy foot, and say, Alas! because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence. 12 He that is far off shall die of the pestilence; and he that is near shall fall by the sword; and he that remaineth and is besieged shall die by the famine: thus will I accomplish my wrath upon them. 13 And ye shall know that I am Jehovah, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the places where they offered sweet savor to all their idols. 14 And I will stretch out my hand upon them, and make the land desolate and waste, from the wilderness toward Diblah, throughout all their habitations: and they shall know that I am Jehovah.

1 Cuvântul Domnului mi-a vorbit astfel: 2 „Fiul omului*Cap. 20:46;21:2;25:2., întoarce-ți fața spre munții*Cap. 36:1. lui Israel, prorocește împotriva lor 3 și zi: ‘Munți ai lui Israel, ascultați cuvântul Domnului Dumnezeu! Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu, către munți și dealuri, către văgăuni și văi: «Iată, voi aduce sabia împotriva voastră și vă voi nimici*Lev. 26:30. înălțimile. 4 Altarele voastre vor fi pustiite, stâlpii voștri închinați soarelui vor fi sfărâmați și voi face*Lev. 26:30. ca morții voștri să cadă înaintea idolilor voștri. 5 Voi pune trupurile moarte ale copiilor lui Israel înaintea idolilor lor și vă voi risipi oasele în jurul altarelor voastre. 6 Pretutindeni pe unde locuiți, cetățile vă vor fi nimicite și înălțimile, pustiite; altarele voastre vor fi surpate și părăsite, idolii voștri vor fi sfărâmați și vor pieri, stâlpii voștri închinați soarelui vor fi tăiați și lucrările voastre, nimicite. 7 Morții vor cădea în mijlocul vostru și veți ști*Vers. 13. Cap. 7:4,9;11:10,12;12:15. că Eu sunt Domnul. 8 Dar*Ier. 44:28. Cap. 5:2,12;12:16;14:22. voi lăsa câteva rămășițe dintre voi, care vor scăpa de sabie printre neamuri când veți fi risipiți în felurite țări. 9 Și cei ce vor scăpa din voi își vor aduce aminte de Mine printre neamurile unde vor fi robi, pentru că le voi zdrobi*Ps. 78:40.Is. 7:13;43:24;63:10. inima preacurvară și necredincioasă și ochii*Num. 15:39. Cap. 20:7,24. care au curvit după idolii lor. Atunci le va fi scârbă*Lev. 26:39.Iov 42:6. Cap. 20:43;36:31. de ei înșiși din pricina mișeliilor pe care le-au făcut, din pricina tuturor urâciunilor lor. 10 Și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul și că nu degeaba i-am amenințat că le voi trimite toate aceste rele.» 11 Așa vorbește Domnul Dumnezeu: «Bate din mâini*Cap. 21:14., dă din picioare și zi: ‹Vai! pentru toate urâciunile cele rele ale casei lui Israel, care va*Cap. 5:12. cădea lovită de sabie, de foamete și de ciumă. 12 Cine va fi departe va muri de ciumă și cine va fi aproape va cădea ucis de sabie, iar cine va rămâne și va fi împresurat va pieri de foame. Așa*Cap. 5:13. Îmi voi potoli urgia asupra lor. 13 Și veți ști*Vers. 7. că Eu sunt Domnul când morții lor vor fi în mijlocul idolilor lor, împrejurul altarelor lor, pe orice deal înalt*Ier. 2:20., pe toate vârfurile*Osea 4:13. munților, sub*Is. 57:5. orice copac verde, sub orice stejar stufos, acolo unde aduceau tămâie cu miros plăcut tuturor idolilor lor. 14 Îmi voi întinde*Is. 5:25. mâna împotriva lor și voi face țara deșartă și pustie, de la pustie până la Dibla*Num. 33:46.Ier. 48:22., pretutindeni unde locuiesc. Și vor ști că Eu sunt Domnul.›»’"
