1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek Jehovah: look unto the rock whence ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye were digged. 2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him, and made him many. 3 For Jehovah hath comforted Zion; he hath comforted all her waste places, and hath made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

4 Attend unto me, O my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall go forth from me, and I will establish my justice for a light of the peoples. 5 My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the peoples; the isles shall wait for me, and on mine arm shall they trust. 6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment; and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.

7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye dismayed at their revilings. 8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation unto all generations.

9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Is it not thou that didst cut Rahab in pieces, that didst pierce the monster? 10 Is it not thou that driedst up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that madest the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over? 11 And the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou art afraid of man that shall die, and of the son of man that shall be made as grass; 13 and hast forgotten Jehovah thy Maker, that stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and fearest continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he maketh ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor? 14 The captive exile shall speedily be loosed; and he shall not die and go down into the pit, neither shall his bread fail. 15 For I am Jehovah thy God, who stirreth up the sea, so that the waves thereof roar: Jehovah of hosts is his name. 16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and have covered thee in the shadow of my hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.

17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, that hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his wrath; thou hast drunken the bowl of the cup of staggering, and drained it. 18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand among all the sons that she hath brought up. 19 These two things are befallen thee, who shall bemoan thee? desolation and destruction, and the famine and the sword; how shall I comfort thee? 20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of Jehovah, the rebuke of thy God.

21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: 22 Thus saith thy Lord Jehovah, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thy hand the cup of staggering, even the bowl of the cup of my wrath; thou shalt no more drink it again: 23 and I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee, that have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy back as the ground, and as the street, to them that go over.

Priviți spre stânca din care ați fost ciopliți, spre gaura gropii din care ați fost scoși. 2 Uitați-vă*Rom. 4:1,16.Evr. 11:11,12. la părintele vostru Avraam și spre Sara, care v-a născut, căci*Gen. 12:1,2. l-am chemat când era numai el singur, l-am*Gen. 24:1,35. binecuvântat și înmulțit. 3 Tot astfel, Domnul are milă*Ps. 102:13. Cap. 40:1. Vers. 12. Cap. 52:9. de Sion și mângâie toate dărâmăturile lui. El va face pustia lui ca*Gen. 13:10.Ioel 2:3. un rai și pământul lui uscat ca o grădină a Domnului. Bucuria și veselia vor fi în mijlocul lui, mulțumiri și cântări de laudă. 4 Ia aminte spre Mine dar, poporul Meu, pleacă urechea spre Mine, neamul Meu! Căci*Cap. 2:3;42:4. din Mine va ieși Legea și voi pune Legea Mea lumină*Cap. 42:6. popoarelor. 5 Neprihănirea*Cap. 46:13;56:1.Rom. 1:16,17. Mea este aproape, mântuirea Mea se va arăta, și brațele*Ps. 67:4;98:9. Mele vor judeca popoarele, ostroavele*Cap. 60:9. vor nădăjdui în Mine și se vor încrede în*Rom. 1:16. brațul Meu. 6 Ridicați*Cap. 40:26. ochii spre cer și priviți în jos pe pământ! Căci cerurile*Ps. 102:26.Mat. 24:35.2 Pet. 3:10,12. vor pieri ca un fum, pământul*Cap. 50:9. se va preface în zdrențe ca o haină și locuitorii lui vor muri ca niște muște, dar mântuirea Mea va dăinui în veci și neprihănirea Mea nu va avea sfârșit. 7 Ascultați-Mă*Vers. 1., voi, care cunoașteți neprihănirea, popor care ai în*Ps. 37:31. inimă Legea Mea! Nu*Mat. 10:28.Fapte 5:41. te teme de ocara oamenilor și nu tremura de ocările lor! 8 Căci*Cap. 50:9. îi va mânca molia ca pe o haină și-i va roade viermele cum roade lâna, dar neprihănirea Mea va dăinui în veci și mântuirea Mea se va întinde din veac în veac." 9 Trezește-te*Ps. 44:23. Cap. 52:1., trezește-te și îmbracă-te*Ps. 93:1.Apoc. 11:17. cu putere, braț al Domnului! Trezește-te, ca*Ps. 44:1. în zilele de odinioară și în veacurile din vechime! Oare*Iov 26:12. n-ai doborât Tu Egiptul*Ps. 87:4;89:10. și n-ai străpuns balaurul*Ps. 74:13,14. Cap. 27:1.Ezec. 29:3.? 10 Nu ești Tu Acela care ai uscat*Exod 14:21. Cap. 43:16. marea, apele adâncului celui mare, și ai croit în adâncimile mării un drum pentru trecerea celor răscumpărați? 11 Astfel, cei*Cap. 35:10. răscumpărați de Domnul se vor întoarce, vor veni în Sion cu cântări de biruință și o bucurie veșnică le va încununa capul; îi va apuca veselia și bucuria, iar durerea și gemetele vor fugi. 12 „Eu, Eu vă mângâi*Vers. 3.2 Cor. 1:3.. Dar cine ești tu, ca să te temi de*Ps. 118:6. omul cel muritor și de fiul omului, care trece ca iarba*Cap. 40:6.1 Pet. 1:24., 13 și să uiți pe Domnul, care te-a făcut, care*Iov 9:8.Ps. 104:2. Cap. 40:22;42:5;44:24. a întins cerurile și a întemeiat pământul? De ce să tremuri necontenit toată ziua înaintea mâniei asupritorului, când umblă să te nimicească? Unde*Iov 20:7. este mânia asupritorului? 14 În curând, cel încovoiat sub fiare va fi dezlegat; nu*Zah. 9:11. va muri în groapă și nu va duce lipsă de pâine. 15 Eu sunt Domnul Dumnezeul tău, care*Iov 26:12.Ps. 74:13.Ier. 31:35. stârnesc marea și fac să-i urle valurile și al cărui Nume este Domnul oștirilor. 16 Eu pun*Deut. 18:18. Cap. 59:21.Ioan 3:34. cuvintele Mele în gura ta și te acopăr*Cap. 49:2. cu umbra mâinii Mele, ca să întind*Cap. 65:17;66:22. ceruri noi și să întemeiez un pământ nou și să zic Sionului: ‘Tu ești poporul Meu!’" 17 Trezește-te*Cap. 52:1., trezește-te! Scoală-te, Ierusalime, care ai*Iov 21:20.Ier. 25:15,16. băut din mâna Domnului potirul mâniei Lui, care ai băut*Deut. 28:28,34.Ps. 60:3;75:8.Ezec. 23:32-34.Zah. 12:2.Apoc. 14:10., ai sorbit până în fund potirul amețelii! 18 Căci nu este niciunul care să-l călăuzească din toți copiii pe care i-a născut, nu este niciunul care să-l ia de mână din toți copiii pe care i-a crescut. 19 Amândouă aceste lucruri ți s-au întâmplat*Cap. 47:9. – dar cine te va plânge? – pustiirea și dărăpănarea, foametea și sabia: cum*Amos 7:2. să te mângâi eu? 20 Fiii*Plâng. 2:11,12. tăi, leșinați, zăceau în toate colțurile ulițelor, ca cerbul într-un laț, plini de mânia Domnului și de mustrarea Dumnezeului tău. 21 De aceea, nenorocitule, beat ce ești, dar*Vers. 17.Plâng. 3:15. nu de vin, ascultă: 22 Așa vorbește Domnul tău, Domnul Dumnezeul tău, care*Ier. 50:34. apără pe poporul Lui: „Iată că îți iau din mână potirul amețelii, potirul mâniei Mele, ca să nu mai bei din el, 23 și îl*Ier. 25:17,26,28.Zah. 12:2. voi pune în mâna asupritorilor tăi, care*Ps. 66:11,12. îți ziceau: ‘Îndoaie-te, ca să trecem peste tine!’ Îți făceai atunci spinarea ca un pământ și ca o uliță pentru trecători."
