1 The proverbs of Solomon.

A wise son maketh a glad father;

But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing;

But righteousness delivereth from death.

3 Jehovah will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish;

But he thrusteth away the desire of the wicked.

4 He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand;

But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son;

But he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

6 Blessings are upon the head of the righteous;

But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

7 The memory of the righteous is blessed;

But the name of the wicked shall rot.

8 The wise in heart will receive commandments;

But a prating fool shall fall.

9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely;

But he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow;

But a prating fool shall fall.

11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life;

But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

12 Hatred stirreth up strifes;

But love covereth all transgressions.

13 In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found;

But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14 Wise men lay up knowledge;

But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction.

15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city:

The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

16 The labor of the righteous tendeth to life;

The increase of the wicked, to sin.

17 He is in the way of life that heedeth correction;

But he that forsaketh reproof erreth.

18 He that hideth hatred is of lying lips;

And he that uttereth a slander is a fool.

19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression;

But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely.

20 The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver:

The heart of the wicked is little worth.

21 The lips of the righteous feed many;

But the foolish die for lack of understanding.

22 The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich;

And he addeth no sorrow therewith.

23 It is as sport to a fool to do wickedness;

And so is wisdom to a man of understanding.

24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him;

And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25 When the whirlwind passeth, the wicked is no more;

But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes,

So is the sluggard to them that send him.

27 The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days;

But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28 The hope of the righteous shall be gladness;

But the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29 The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright;

But it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

30 The righteous shall never be removed;

But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.

31 The mouth of the righteous bringeth forth wisdom;

But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.

32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable;

But the mouth of the wicked speaketh perverseness.

dar*Dan. 4:27. neprihănirea izbăvește de la moarte.

3 Domnul*Ps. 10:14;34:9,10;37:25. nu lasă pe cel neprihănit să sufere de foame,

dar îndepărtează pofta celor răi.

4 Cine lucrează cu o mână*Cap. 12:24;19:15. leneșă sărăcește,

dar mâna*Cap. 13:4;21:5. celor harnici îmbogățește.

5 Cine strânge vara este un om chibzuit,

cine doarme în timpul seceratului este un om*Cap. 12:4;17:2;19:26. care face rușine.

6 Pe capul celui neprihănit sunt binecuvântări,

dar gura*Vers. 11.Est. 7:8. celor răi ascunde silnicie.

7 Pomenirea*Ps. 9:5,6;112:6.Ecl. 8:10. celui neprihănit este binecuvântată,

dar numele celor răi putrezește.

8 Cine are o inimă înțeleaptă primește învățăturile,

dar*Vers. 10. cine are o gură nesocotită se prăpădește singur.

9 Cine*Ps. 23:4. Cap. 28:18.Is. 33:15,16. umblă fără prihană umblă fără teamă,

dar cine apucă pe căi strâmbe se dă singur de gol.

10 Cine*Cap. 6:13. clipește din ochi este o pricină de întristare

și*Vers. 8. cine are o gură nesocotită se prăpădește singur.

11 Gura*Ps. 37:30. Cap. 13:14;18:4. celui neprihănit este un izvor de viață,

dar gura*Ps. 107:42. Vers. 6. celor răi ascunde silnicie.

12 Ura stârnește certuri,

dar dragostea*Cap. 17:9.1 Cor. 13:4.1 Pet. 4:8. acoperă toate greșelile.

13 Pe buzele omului priceput se află înțelepciunea,

dar nuiaua*Cap. 26:3. este pentru spatele celui fără minte.

14 Înțelepții păstrează știința,

dar gura*Cap. 18:7;21:23. nebunului este o pieire apropiată.

15 Averea*Iov 31:24.Ps. 52:7. Cap. 18:11.1 Tim. 6:17. este o cetate întărită pentru cel bogat,

dar prăpădirea celor nenorociți este sărăcia lor.

16 Cel neprihănit își întrebuințează câștigul pentru viață,

iar cel rău își întrebuințează venitul pentru păcat.

17 Cine își aduce aminte de certare apucă pe calea vieții,

dar cel ce uită mustrarea apucă pe căi greșite.

18 Cine ascunde ura are buze mincinoase,

și cine*Ps. 15:3. răspândește bârfelile este un nebun.

19 Cine vorbește*Ecl. 5:3. mult nu se poate să nu păcătuiască,

dar cel*Iac. 3:2. ce-și ține buzele este un om chibzuit.

20 Limba celui neprihănit este argint ales;

inima celor răi este puțin lucru.

21 Buzele celui neprihănit înviorează pe mulți oameni,

dar nebunii mor fiindcă n-au judecată.

22 Binecuvântarea*Gen. 24:35;26:12.Ps. 37:22. Domnului îmbogățește

și El nu lasă să fie urmată de niciun necaz.

23 Pentru cel nebun este*Cap. 14:9;15:21. o plăcere să facă răul,

dar pentru cel înțelept este o plăcere să lucreze cu pricepere.

24 Celui rău, de*Iov 15:21. ce se teme, aceea i se întâmplă,

dar celor neprihăniți*Ps. 145:19.Mat. 5:6.1 Ioan 5:14,15. li se împlinește dorința.

25 Cum trece vârtejul, așa*Ps. 37:9,10. piere cel rău,

dar cel*Ps. 15:5. Vers. 30.Mat. 7:24,25;16:18. neprihănit are temelii veșnice.

26 Cum este oțetul pentru dinți și fumul pentru ochi,

așa este leneșul pentru cel ce-l trimite.

27 Frica*Cap. 9:11. de Domnul lungește zilele,

dar anii*Iov 15:32,33;22:16.Ps. 55:23.Ecl. 7:17. celui rău sunt scurtați.

28 Așteptarea*Iov 8:13;11:20.Ps. 112:10. Cap. 11:7. celor neprihăniți nu va fi decât bucurie,

dar*Ps. 1:6;37:20. nădejdea celor răi va pieri.

29 Calea Domnului este un zid de apărare pentru cel nevinovat,

dar este o topenie pentru cei ce fac răul.

30 Cel neprihănit*Ps. 37:22,29;125:1. Vers. 25. nu se va clătina niciodată,

dar cei răi nu vor locui în țară.

31 Gura*Ps. 37:20. celui neprihănit scoate înțelepciune,

dar limba stricată va fi nimicită.

32 Buzele celui neprihănit știu să vorbească lucruri plăcute,

dar gura celor răi spune răutăți.
