1 A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah;

But a just weight is his delight.

2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame;

But with the lowly is wisdom.

3 The integrity of the upright shall guide them;

But the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.

4 Riches profit not in the day of wrath;

But righteousness delivereth from death.

5 The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way;

But the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

6 The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them;

But the treacherous shall be taken in their own iniquity.

7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish;

And the hope of iniquity perisheth.

8 The righteous is delivered out of trouble;

And the wicked cometh in his stead.

9 With his mouth the godless man destroyeth his neighbor;

But through knowledge shall the righteous be delivered.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth;

And when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11 By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted;

But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12 He that despiseth his neighbor is void of wisdom;

But a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13 He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets;

But he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth a matter.

14 Where no wise guidance is, the people falleth;

But in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it;

But he that hateth suretyship is secure.

16 A gracious woman obtaineth honor;

And violent men obtain riches.

17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul;

But he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 The wicked earneth deceitful wages;

But he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.

19 He that is stedfast in righteousness shall attain unto life;

And he that pursueth evil doeth it to his own death.

20 They that are perverse in heart are an abomination to Jehovah;

21 Though hand join in hand, the evil man shall not be unpunished;

But the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22 As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout,

So is a fair woman that is without discretion.

23 The desire of the righteous is only good;

But the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24 There is that scattereth, and increaseth yet more;

And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth only to want.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat;

And he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26 He that withholdeth grain, the people shall curse him;

But blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27 He that diligently seeketh good seeketh favor;

But he that searcheth after evil, it shall come unto him.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall;

But the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.

29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind;

And the foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life;

And he that is wise winneth souls.

31 Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth;

How much more the wicked and the sinner!

dar cântăreala dreaptă Îi este plăcută.

dar înțelepciunea este cu cei smeriți.

3 Neprihănirea*Cap. 13:6. oamenilor cinstiți îi cârmuiește fără teamă,

dar vicleniile celor stricați le aduc pieirea.

4 În ziua mâniei, bogăția nu*Cap. 10:2.Ezec. 7:19.Ţef. 1:18. slujește la nimic,

dar neprihănirea*Gen. 7:1. izbăvește de la moarte.

5 Nevinovăția omului fără prihană îi netezește calea,

dar cel rău*Cap. 5:22.Ecl. 10:8. cade prin însăși răutatea lui.

6 Nevinovăția oamenilor fără prihană îi scapă,

dar cei răi sunt prinși de răutatea lor.

7 La*Cap. 10:28. moartea celui rău, îi piere nădejdea,

și așteptarea oamenilor nelegiuiți este nimicită.

8 Cel neprihănit*Cap. 21:18. este scăpat din strâmtorare,

și cel rău îi ia locul.

9 Cu gura lui, omul nelegiuit*Iov 8:13. pierde pe aproapele său,

dar cei neprihăniți sunt scăpați prin știință.

10 Când le merge bine*Est. 8:15. Cap. 28:12,28. celor neprihăniți, toată cetatea se bucură

și, când pier cei răi, toți strigă de veselie.

11 Cetatea*Cap. 29:8. se înalță prin binecuvântarea oamenilor fără prihană,

dar este surpată prin gura celor răi.

12 Cine defaimă pe aproapele său este fără minte,

dar omul cu pricepere primește și tace.

13 Cine umblă cu bârfeli*Lev. 19:16. Cap. 20:19. dă pe față lucruri ascunse,

dar sufletul credincios ține ce i s-a încredințat.

14 Când*1 Împ. 12:1. Cap. 15:22; 24:6. nu este chibzuință, poporul cade,

dar biruința vine prin marele număr de sfetnici.

15 Cui se pune chezaș pentru altul, îi merge rău*Cap. 6:1.,

dar cine se teme să se pună chezaș este liniștit.

16 O femeie*Cap. 31:30. plăcută capătă cinste,

și cei asupritori capătă bogăție.

17 Omul*Mat. 5:7;25:34. milostiv își face bine sufletului său,

dar omul fără milă își tulbură însăși carnea lui.

18 Cel rău dobândește un câștig înșelător,

dar cel*Osea 10:12.Gal. 6:8,9.Iac. 3:18. ce seamănă neprihănirea are o adevărată plată.

19 Adevărata neprihănire duce la viață,

dar cel ce urmărește răul găsește moartea.

20 Cei cu inima stricată sunt o scârbă înaintea Domnului,

dar cei ce umblă fără prihană Îi sunt plăcuți.

21 Hotărât: cel rău nu va rămâne*Cap. 16:5. nepedepsit,

dar sămânța*Ps. 112:2. celor neprihăniți va fi scăpată.

22 Femeia frumoasă și fără minte este

ca un inel de aur pus în râtul unui porc.

23 Dorința celor neprihăniți este numai bine,

dar așteptarea celor răi este numai mânie*Rom. 2:8,9..

24 Unul care dă cu mână largă*Ps. 112:9. ajunge mai bogat;

și altul care economisește prea mult nu face decât să sărăcească.

25 Sufletul*2 Cor. 9:6-10. binefăcător va fi săturat,

și*Mat. 5:7. cel ce udă pe alții va fi udat și el.

26 Cine*Amos 8:5,6. oprește grâul este blestemat de popor,

dar pe capul celui ce-l vinde vine binecuvântarea*Iov 29:13..

27 Cine urmărește binele își câștigă bunăvoință,

dar*Est. 7:10.Ps. 7:15,16;9:15,16;10:2;57:6. cine urmărește răul este atins de el.

28 Cine*Iov 31:24.Ps. 52:7.Marcu 10:24.Luca 12:21.1 Tim. 6:17. se încrede în bogății va cădea,

dar cei neprihăniți vor înverzi ca*Ps. 1:3;52:8;92:12.Ier. 17:8. frunzișul.

29 Cine își tulbură casa va moșteni vânt*Ecl. 5:16.,

și nebunul va fi robul omului înțelept!

30 Rodul celui neprihănit este un pom de viață,

și cel*Dan. 12:3.1 Cor. 9:19.Iac. 5:20. înțelept câștigă suflete.

31 Iată*Ier. 25:29.1 Pet. 4:17,18., cel neprihănit este răsplătit pe pământ;

cu cât mai mult cel rău și păcătos!
