1 Whoso loveth correction loveth knowledge;

But he that hateth reproof is brutish.

2 A good man shall obtain favor of Jehovah;

But a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness;

But the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband;

But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

5 The thoughts of the righteous are just;

But the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

6 The words of the wicked are of lying in wait for blood;

But the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

7 The wicked are overthrown, and are not;

But the house of the righteous shall stand.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom;

But he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

9 Better is he that is lightly esteemed, and hath a servant,

Than he that honoreth himself, and lacketh bread.

10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast;

But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

11 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread;

But he that followeth after vain persons is void of understanding.

12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men;

But the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

13 In the transgression of the lips is a snare to the evil man;

But the righteous shall come out of trouble.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth;

And the doings of a man’s hands shall be rendered unto him.

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes;

But he that is wise hearkeneth unto counsel.

16 A fool’s vexation is presently known;

But a prudent man concealeth shame.

17 He that uttereth truth showeth forth righteousness;

But a false witness, deceit.

18 There is that speaketh rashly like the piercings of a sword;

But the tongue of the wise is health.

19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever;

But a lying tongue is but for a moment.

20 Deceit is in the heart of them that devise evil;

But to the counsellors of peace is joy.

21 There shall no mischief happen to the righteous;

But the wicked shall be filled with evil.

22 Lying lips are an abomination to Jehovah;

But they that deal truly are his delight.

23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge;

But the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule;

But the slothful shall be put under taskwork.

25 Heaviness in the heart of a man maketh it stoop;

But a good word maketh it glad.

26 The righteous is a guide to his neighbor;

But the way of the wicked causeth them to err.

27 The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting;

But the precious substance of men is to the diligent.

28 In the way of righteousness is life;

And in the pathway thereof there is no death.

1 Cine iubește certarea iubește știința,

dar cine urăște mustrarea este prost.

2 Omul de bine*Cap. 8:35. capătă bunăvoința Domnului,

dar Domnul osândește pe cel plin de răutate.

3 Omul nu se întărește prin răutate,

dar rădăcina*Cap. 10:25. celor neprihăniți nu se va clătina.

4 O femeie*Cap. 31:23.1 Cor. 11:7. cinstită este cununa bărbatului ei,

dar cea care-i face rușine este ca*Cap. 14:30. putregaiul în oasele lui.

5 Gândurile celor neprihăniți nu sunt decât dreptate,

dar sfaturile celor răi nu sunt decât înșelăciune.

6 Cuvintele*Cap. 1:11,18. celor răi sunt niște curse ca să verse sânge,

dar*Cap. 14:3. gura celor fără prihană îi izbăvește.

7 Cei răi*Ps. 37:36,37. Cap. 11:21.Mat. 7:24-27. sunt răsturnați și nu mai sunt,

dar casa celor neprihăniți rămâne în picioare!

8 Un om este prețuit după măsura priceperii lui,

dar*1 Sam. 25:17. cel cu inima stricată este disprețuit.

9 Mai*Cap. 13:7. bine să fii într-o stare smerită și să ai o slugă

decât*Deut. 25:4. să faci pe fudulul și să n-ai ce mânca.

10 Cel neprihănit se îndură de vite,

dar inima celui rău este fără milă.

11 Cine-și*Gen. 3:19. Cap. 28:19. lucrează ogorul va avea belșug de pâine,

dar cine umblă după lucruri de nimic este*Cap. 6:32. fără minte.

12 Cel rău poftește prada celor nelegiuiți,

dar rădăcina celor neprihăniți rodește.

13 În păcătuirea cu buzele este*Cap. 18:7. o cursă primejdioasă,

dar*2 Pet. 2:9. cel neprihănit scapă din bucluc.

14 Prin rodul*Cap. 13:2;18:20. gurii te saturi de bunătăți,

și*Is. 3:10,11. fiecare primește după lucrul mâinilor lui.

15 Calea nebunului este fără prihană în*Cap. 3:7.Luca 18:11. ochii lui,

dar înțeleptul ascultă sfaturile.

16 Nebunul*Cap. 29:11. îndată își dă pe față mânia,

dar înțeleptul ascunde ocara.

17 Cine*Cap. 14:5. spune adevărul face o mărturisire dreaptă,

dar martorul mincinos vorbește înșelăciune.

18 Cine vorbește*Ps. 57:4;59:7;64:3. în chip ușuratic rănește ca străpungerea unei săbii,

dar*Ps. 52:5. Cap. 19:9. limba înțelepților aduce vindecare.

19 Buza care spune adevărul este întărită pe vecie,

dar limba mincinoasă nu stă decât o clipă.

20 Înșelătoria este în inima celor ce cugetă răul,

dar bucuria este pentru cei ce sfătuiesc la pace.

21 Nicio nenorocire nu se întâmplă celui neprihănit,

dar cei răi sunt năpădiți de rele.

22 Buzele mincinoase sunt urâte*Cap. 6:17;11:20.Apoc. 22:15. Domnului,

dar cei ce lucrează cu adevăr Îi sunt plăcuți.

23 Omul*Cap. 13:16;15:2. înțelept își ascunde știința,

dar inima nebunilor vestește nebunia.

24 Mâna*Cap. 10:4. celor harnici va stăpâni,

dar mâna leneșă va plăti bir.

25 Neliniștea*Cap. 15:13. din inima omului îl doboară,

dar o vorbă*Is. 50:4. bună îl înveselește.

26 Cel neprihănit arată prietenului său calea cea bună,

dar calea celor răi îi duce în rătăcire.

27 Leneșul nu-și frige vânatul,

dar comoara de preț a unui om este munca.

28 Pe cărarea neprihănirii este viața

și pe drumul însemnat de ea nu este moarte.
