1 The plans of the heart belong to man;

But the answer of the tongue is from Jehovah.

2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes;

But Jehovah weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto Jehovah,

And thy purposes shall be established.

4 Jehovah hath made everything for its own end;

Yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah:

Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for;

And by the fear of Jehovah men depart from evil.

7 When a man’s ways please Jehovah,

He maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 Better is a little, with righteousness,

Than great revenues with injustice.

9 A man’s heart deviseth his way;

But Jehovah directeth his steps.

10 A divine sentence is in the lips of the king;

His mouth shall not transgress in judgment.

11 A just balance and scales are Jehovah’s;

All the weights of the bag are his work.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness;

For the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings;

And they love him that speaketh right.

14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death;

But a wise man will pacify it.

15 In the light of the king’s countenance is life;

And his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!

Yea, to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver.

17 The highway of the upright is to depart from evil:

He that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18 Pride goeth before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.

19 Better it is to be of a lowly spirit with the poor,

Than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 He that giveth heed unto the word shall find good;

And whoso trusteth in Jehovah, happy is he.

21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent;

And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22 Understanding is a well-spring of life unto him that hath it;

But the correction of fools is their folly.

23 The heart of the wise instructeth his mouth,

And addeth learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are as a honeycomb,

Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man,

But the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 The appetite of the laboring man laboreth for him;

For his mouth urgeth him thereto.

27 A worthless man deviseth mischief;

And in his lips there is as a scorching fire.

28 A perverse man scattereth abroad strife;

And a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 A man of violence enticeth his neighbor,

And leadeth him in a way that is not good.

30 He that shutteth his eyes, it is to devise perverse things:

He that compresseth his lips bringeth evil to pass.

31 The hoary head is a crown of glory;

It shall be found in the way of righteousness.

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty;

And he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.

33 The lot is cast into the lap;

But the whole disposing thereof is of Jehovah.

și îți vor izbuti planurile.

4 Domnul*Is. 43:7.Rom. 11:36. a făcut toate pentru o țintă,

chiar*Iov 21:30.Rom. 9:22. și pe cel rău pentru ziua nenorocirii.

5 Orice inimă trufașă este o scârbă*Cap. 6:17;8:13. înaintea Domnului:

hotărât*Cap. 11:21., ea nu va rămâne nepedepsită.

6 Prin*Dan. 4:27.Luca 11:41. dragoste și credincioșie, omul ispășește nelegiuirea,

și prin frica*Cap. 14:16. de Domnul, se abate de la rău.

7 Când sunt plăcute Domnului căile cuiva,

îi face prieteni chiar și pe vrăjmașii lui.

8 Mai*Ps. 37:16. Cap. 15:16. bine puțin cu dreptate

decât mari venituri cu strâmbătate.

9 Inima*Vers. 1. Cap. 19:21. omului se gândește pe ce cale să meargă,

dar*Ps. 37:23. Cap. 20:24.Ier. 10:23. Domnul îi îndreaptă pașii.

10 Hotărâri dumnezeiești sunt pe buzele împăratului,

gura lui nu trebuie să facă greșeli când judecă.

11 Cântarul*Lev. 19:36. Cap. 11:1. și cumpăna dreaptă vin de la Domnul;

toate greutățile de cântărit sunt lucrarea Lui.

12 Împăraților le este scârbă să facă rău,

căci prin*Cap. 25:5;29:14. neprihănire se întărește un scaun de domnie.

13 Buzele*Cap. 14:35;22:11. neprihănite sunt plăcute împăraților,

și ei iubesc pe cel ce vorbește cu neprihănire.

14 Mânia*Cap. 19:12;20:2. împăratului este un vestitor al morții,

dar un om înțelept trebuie s-o potolească.

15 Seninătatea feței împăratului este viața

și bunăvoința*Cap. 19:12. lui este ca*Iov 29:23.Zah. 10:1. o ploaie de primăvară.

16 Cu cât mai mult face câștigarea*Cap. 8:11,19. înțelepciunii decât a aurului!

Cu cât este mai de dorit câștigarea priceperii decât a argintului!

17 Calea oamenilor fără prihană este să se ferească de rău;

acela își păzește sufletul, care veghează asupra căii sale.

18 Mândria*Cap. 11:2;17:19;18:12. merge înaintea pieirii

și trufia merge înaintea căderii.

19 Mai bine să fii smerit cu cei smeriți

decât să împarți prada cu cei mândri.

20 Cine cugetă la Cuvântul Domnului găsește fericirea

și cine se încrede*Ps. 2:12;34:8;125:1.Is. 30:18.Ier. 17:7. în Domnul este fericit.

21 Cine are o inimă înțeleaptă este numit priceput,

dar dulceața buzelor mărește știința.

22 Înțelepciunea*Cap. 13:14;14:27. este un izvor de viață pentru cine o are,

dar pedeapsa nebunilor este nebunia lor.

23 Cine are o inimă*Ps. 37:30.Mat. 12:34. înțeleaptă își arată înțelepciunea când vorbește

și mereu se văd învățături noi pe buzele lui.

24 Cuvintele prietenoase sunt ca un fagure de miere:

dulci pentru suflet și sănătoase pentru oase.

25 Multe căi*Cap. 14:12. i se par bune omului,

dar la urmă duc la moarte.

26 Cine*Cap. 9:12.Ecl. 6:7. muncește pentru el muncește,

căci foamea lui îl îndeamnă la lucru.

27 Omul stricat pregătește nenorocirea

și pe buzele lui este ca un foc aprins.

28 Omul*Cap. 6:14,19;15:18;26:21;29:22. neastâmpărat stârnește certuri

și pârâtorul*Cap. 17:9. dezbină pe cei mai buni prieteni.

29 Omul asupritor amăgește*Cap. 1:10. pe aproapele său

și-l duce pe o cale care nu este bună.

30 Cine închide ochii ca să se dedea la gânduri stricate,

cine-și mușcă buzele, a și săvârșit răul.

31 Perii*Cap. 20:29. albi sunt o cunună de cinste,

ea se găsește pe calea neprihănirii.

32 Cel*Cap. 19:11. încet la mânie prețuiește mai mult decât un viteaz

și cine este stăpân pe sine prețuiește mai mult decât cine cucerește cetăți.

33 Se aruncă sorțul în poala hainei,

dar orice hotărâre vine de la Domnul.
