1 He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck

Shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.

2 When the righteous are increased, the people rejoice;

But when a wicked man beareth rule, the people sigh.

3 Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father;

But he that keepeth company with harlots wasteth his substance.

4 The king by justice establisheth the land;

But he that exacteth gifts overthroweth it.

5 A man that flattereth his neighbor

Spreadeth a net for his steps.

6 In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare;

But the righteous doth sing and rejoice.

7 The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor;

The wicked hath not understanding to know it.

8 Scoffers set a city in a flame;

But wise men turn away wrath.

9 If a wise man hath a controversy with a foolish man,

Whether he be angry or laugh, there will be no rest.

10 The bloodthirsty hate him that is perfect;

And as for the upright, they seek his life.

11 A fool uttereth all his anger;

But a wise man keepeth it back and stilleth it.

12 If a ruler hearkeneth to falsehood,

All his servants are wicked.

13 The poor man and the oppressor meet together;

Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both.

14 The king that faithfully judgeth the poor,

His throne shall be established for ever.

15 The rod and reproof give wisdom;

But a child left to himself causeth shame to his mother.

16 When the wicked are increased, transgression increaseth;

But the righteous shall look upon their fall.

17 Correct thy son, and he will give thee rest;

Yea, he will give delight unto thy soul.

18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint;

But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

19 A servant will not be corrected by words;

For though he understand, he will not give heed.

20 Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words?

There is more hope of a fool than of him.

21 He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child

Shall have him become a son at the last.

22 An angry man stirreth up strife,

And a wrathful man aboundeth in transgression.

23 A man’s pride shall bring him low;

But he that is of a lowly spirit shall obtain honor.

24 Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul;

He heareth the adjuration and uttereth nothing.

25 The fear of man bringeth a snare;

But whoso putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be safe.

26 Many seek the ruler’s favor;

But a man’s judgment cometh from Jehovah.

27 An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous;

And he that is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.

dar cel rău nu poate s-o priceapă.

9 Când se ceartă un înțelept cu un nebun,

să se tot supere sau*Mat. 11:17. să tot râdă, căci pace nu se face.

10 Oamenii*Gen. 4:5,8.1 Ioan 3:12. setoși de sânge urăsc pe omul fără prihană,

dar oamenii fără prihană îi ocrotesc viața.

11 Nebunul*Jud. 16:17. Cap. 12:16; 14:33. își arată toată patima,

dar înțeleptul o stăpânește.

12 Când cel ce stăpânește dă ascultare cuvintelor mincinoase,

toți slujitorii lui sunt niște răi.

13 Săracul și asupritorul se*Cap. 22:2. întâlnesc,

dar Domnul*Mat. 5:45. le luminează ochii amândurora.

14 Un împărat*Cap. 20:8;25:5. care judecă pe săraci după*Ps. 72:2,4,13,14. adevăr

își va avea scaunul de domnie întărit pe vecie.

15 Nuiaua*Vers. 17. și certarea dau înțelepciunea,

dar copilul*Cap. 10:1;17:21,25. lăsat de capul lui face rușine mamei sale.

16 Când se înmulțesc cei răi, se înmulțește și păcatul,

dar*Ps. 37:36;58:10;91:8;92:11. cei buni le vor vedea căderea.

17 Pedepsește-ți*Cap. 13:24;19:18;22:15;23:13,14;29:15. fiul, și el îți va da odihnă

și îți va aduce desfătare sufletului.

18 Când*1 Sam. 3:1.Amos 8:11,12. nu este nicio descoperire dumnezeiască, poporul este fără frâu;

dar*Ioan 13:17.Iac. 1:25. ferice de poporul care păzește legea!

19 Nu prin vorbe se pedepsește un rob,

căci, chiar dacă pricepe, n-ascultă.

20 Dacă vezi un om care vorbește nechibzuit,

poți să nădăjduiești mai*Cap. 26:12. mult de la un nebun decât de la el.

21 Slujitorul pe care-l răsfeți din copilărie

la urmă ajunge de se crede fiu.

22 Un om*Cap. 15:18;26:21. mânios stârnește certuri

și un înfuriat face multe păcate.

23 Mândria*Iov 22:29. Cap. 15:33;18:12.Is. 66:2.Dan. 4:30.Mat. 23:12.Luca 14:11;18:14.Fapte 12:23.Iac. 4:6,10.1 Pet. 5:5. unui om îl coboară,

dar cine este smerit cu duhul capătă cinste.

24 Cine împarte cu un hoț își urăște viața,

aude*Lev. 5:1. blestemul și nu spune nimic.

25 Frica*Gen. 12:12;20:2,11. de oameni este o cursă,

dar cel ce se încrede în Domnul n-are de ce să se teamă.

26 Mulți*Ps. 20:9. Cap. 19:6. umblă după bunăvoința celui ce stăpânește,

dar Domnul este Acela care face dreptate fiecăruia.

27 Omul nelegiuit este o scârbă înaintea celor neprihăniți,

dar cel ce umblă fără prihană este o scârbă înaintea celor răi.
