1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth;

But the righteous are bold as a lion.

2 For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof;

But by men of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

3 A needy man that oppresseth the poor

Is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked;

But such as keep the law contend with them.

5 Evil men understand not justice;

But they that seek Jehovah understand all things.

6 Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity,

Than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

7 Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son;

But he that is a companion of gluttons shameth his father.

8 He that augmenteth his substance by interest and increase,

Gathereth it for him that hath pity on the poor.

9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law,

Even his prayer is an abomination.

10 Whoso causeth the upright to go astray in an evil way,

He shall fall himself into his own pit;

But the perfect shall inherit good.

11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit;

But the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

12 When the righteous triumph, there is great glory;

But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

13 He that covereth his transgressions shall not prosper;

But whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall obtain mercy.

14 Happy is the man that feareth alway;

But he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15 As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear,

So is a wicked ruler over a poor people.

16 The prince that lacketh understanding is also a great oppressor;

But he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

17 A man that is laden with the blood of any person

Shall flee unto the pit; let no man stay him.

18 Whoso walketh uprightly shall be delivered;

But he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

19 He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread;

But he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings;

But he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be unpunished.

21 To have respect of persons is not good;

Neither that a man should transgress for a piece of bread.

22 He that hath an evil eye hasteth after riches,

And knoweth not that want shall come upon him.

23 He that rebuketh a man shall afterward find more favor

Than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24 Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression,

The same is the companion of a destroyer.

25 He that is of a greedy spirit stirreth up strife;

But he that putteth his trust in Jehovah shall be made fat.

26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool;

But whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27 He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack;

But he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28 When the wicked rise, men hide themselves;

But when they perish, the righteous increase.

5 Oamenii*Ps. 92:6. dedați la rău nu înțeleg ce este drept,

dar cei ce*Ioan 7:17.1 Cor. 2:15.1 Ioan 2:20,27. caută pe Domnul înțeleg totul.

6 Mai*Cap. 19:1. Vers. 18. mult prețuiește săracul care umblă în neprihănirea lui

decât bogatul care umblă pe căi sucite.

7 Cel ce*Cap. 29:3. păzește legea este un fiu priceput,

dar cel ce*Iov 27:16,17. Cap. 13:22.Ecl. 2:26. umblă cu cei desfrânați face rușine tatălui său.

8 Cine*Zah. 7:11. își înmulțește avuțiile prin dobândă și camătă

le strânge pentru cel ce are milă de săraci.

9 Dacă cineva își întoarce urechea ca să n-asculte legea,

chiar*Ps. 66:18;109:7. Cap. 15:8. și rugăciunea lui este o scârbă.

10 Cine*Cap. 26:27. rătăcește pe oamenii fără prihană pe calea cea rea

cade în groapa pe care a săpat-o,

dar*Mat. 6:33. oamenii fără prihană moștenesc fericirea.

11 Omul bogat se crede înțelept,

dar săracul care este priceput îl cercetează.

12 Când*Vers. 28. Cap. 11:10;29:2.Ecl. 10:6. biruiesc cei neprihăniți, este o mare slavă,

dar când se înalță cei răi, fiecare se ascunde.

13 Cine*Ps. 32:3,5.1 Ioan 1:8-10. își ascunde fărădelegile nu propășește,

dar cine le mărturisește și se lasă de ele capătă îndurare.

14 Ferice de omul care*Ps. 16:8. Cap. 23:17. se teme necontenit,

dar*Rom. 2:5;11:20. cel ce-și împietrește inima cade în nenorocire.

15 Ca un leu*1 Pet. 5:8. care răcnește și ca un urs flămând,

așa este*Exod 1:14,16,22.Mat. 2:16. cel rău care stăpânește peste un popor sărac.

16 Un voievod fără pricepere își înmulțește faptele de asuprire,

dar cel ce urăște lăcomia își lungește zilele.

17 Un om*Gen. 9:6.Exod 21:14. al cărui cuget este încărcat cu sângele altuia

fuge până la groapă: nimeni să nu-l oprească.

18 Cine*Cap. 10:9,25. umblă în neprihănire găsește mântuirea,

dar cine*Vers. 6. umblă pe două căi strâmbe cade într-o groapă.

19 Cine*Cap. 12:11. își lucrează câmpul are belșug de pâine,

dar cine aleargă după lucruri de nimic are belșug de sărăcie.

20 Un om credincios este năpădit de binecuvântări,

dar*Cap. 13:11;20:21;23:4. Vers. 22.1 Tim. 6:9. cel ce vrea să se îmbogățească repede nu rămâne nepedepsit.

21 Nu este bine să*Cap. 18:5;24:23. cauți la fața oamenilor;

chiar pentru*Ezec. 13:19. o bucată de pâine poate un om să se dedea la păcat.

22 Un om*Vers. 20. pizmaș se grăbește să se îmbogățească,

și nu știe că lipsa va veni peste el.

23 Cine*Cap. 27:5,6. mustră pe alții găsește mai multă bunăvoință pe urmă

decât cel cu limba lingușitoare.

24 Cine fură pe tatăl său și pe mama sa și zice că nu este un păcat

este tovarăș*Cap. 8:9. cu nimicitorul.

25 Cel lacom*Cap. 13:10. stârnește certuri,

dar*1 Tim. 6:6. cel ce se încrede în Domnul este săturat din belșug.

26 Cine se încrede în inima lui este un nebun,

dar cine umblă în înțelepciune va fi mântuit.

27 Cine*Deut. 15:7. Cap. 19:17;22:9. dă săracului nu duce lipsă,

dar cine închide ochii este încărcat cu blesteme.

28 Când*Vers. 12. Cap. 29:2. se înalță cei răi, fiecare*Iov 24:4. se ascunde,

dar când pier ei, cei buni se înmulțesc.
