1 O give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;

For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so,

Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

3 And gathered out of the lands,

From the east and from the west,

From the north and from the south.

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way;

They found no city of habitation.

5 Hungry and thirsty,

Their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble,

And he delivered them out of their distresses,

7 He led them also by a straight way,

That they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul,

And the hungry soul he filleth with good.

10 Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,

Being bound in affliction and iron,

11 Because they rebelled against the words of God,

And contemned the counsel of the Most High:

12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labor;

They fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble,

And he saved them out of their distresses.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,

And brake their bonds in sunder.

15 Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

16 For he hath broken the gates of brass,

And cut the bars of iron in sunder.

17 Fools because of their transgression,

And because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of food;

And they draw near unto the gates of death.

19 Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble,

And he saveth them out of their distresses.

20 He sendeth his word, and healeth them,

And delivereth them from their destructions.

21 Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

22 And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving,

And declare his works with singing.

23 They that go down to the sea in ships,

That do business in great waters;

24 These see the works of Jehovah,

And his wonders in the deep.

25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind,

Which lifteth up the waves thereof.

26 They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths:

Their soul melteth away because of trouble.

27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man,

And are at their wits’ end.

28 Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble,

And he bringeth them out of their distresses.

29 He maketh the storm a calm,

So that the waves thereof are still.

30 Then are they glad because they are quiet;

So he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

31 Oh that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness,

And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

32 Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people,

And praise him in the seat of the elders.

33 He turneth rivers into a wilderness,

And watersprings into a thirsty ground;

34 A fruitful land into a salt desert,

For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

35 He turneth a wilderness into a pool of water,

And a dry land into watersprings.

36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell,

That they may prepare a city of habitation,

37 And sow fields, and plant vineyards,

And get them fruits of increase.

38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly;

And he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

39 Again, they are diminished and bowed down

Through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

40 He poureth contempt upon princes,

And causeth them to wander in the waste, where there is no way.

41 Yet setteth he the needy on high from affliction,

And maketh him families like a flock.

42 The upright shall see it, and be glad;

And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

43 Whoso is wise will give heed to these things;

And they will consider the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah.

2 Așa să zică cei răscumpărați de Domnul,

pe*Ps. 106:10. care i-a izbăvit El din*Ps. 106:47.Is. 43:5,6.Ier. 29:14;31:8,10.Ezec. 39:27,28. mâna vrăjmașului

3 și pe care i-a strâns din toate țările:

de la răsărit și de la apus,

de la miazănoapte și de la mare.

4 Ei pribegeau prin pustie*Vers. 40., umblau*Deut. 32:10. pe căi neumblate

și nu găseau nicio cetate unde să poată locui.

5 Sufereau de foame și de sete;

le tânjea sufletul în ei.

6 Atunci*Vers. 13,19,28.Ps. 50:15.Osea 5:15., în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul,

și El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor;

7 i-a călăuzit pe drumul*Ezra 8:21. cel drept,

ca să ajungă într-o cetate de locuit.

8 O, de ar lăuda*Vers. 15,21,31. oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui

și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii oamenilor!

9 Căci El a potolit*Ps. 34:10.Luca 1:53. setea sufletului însetat

și a umplut de bunătăți sufletul flămând.

10 Cei ce ședeau*Luca 1:79. în întuneric și în umbra morții

trăiau legați*Iov 36:8. în ticăloșie și în fiare,

11 pentru că se*Plâng. 3:42. răzvrătiseră împotriva cuvintelor lui Dumnezeu,

pentru că nesocotiseră sfatul*Ps. 73:24;119:24.Luca 7:30.Fapte 20:27. Celui Preaînalt.

12 El le-a smerit inima prin suferință:

au căzut, și nimeni nu i-a*Ps. 22:11.Is. 63:5. ajutat.

13 Atunci*Vers. 6,19,28., în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul,

și El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

14 I-a scos*Ps. 68:6;146:7.Fapte 12:7. din întuneric și din umbra morții

și le-a rupt legăturile.

15 O, de ar lăuda*Vers. 8,21,31. oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui

și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii oamenilor!

16 Căci El a sfărâmat*Is. 45:2. porți de aramă

și a rupt zăvoare de fier.

17 Nebunii, prin*Plâng. 3:39. purtarea lor vinovată

și prin nelegiuirile lor, ajunseseră nenorociți.

18 Sufletul*Iov 33:20. lor se dezgustase de orice hrană

și erau lângă*Iov 33:22.Ps. 9:13;88:3. porțile morții.

19 Atunci*Vers. 6,13,28., în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul,

și El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor;

20 a trimis*2 Împ. 20:4,5.Ps. 147:15,18.Mat. 8:8. Cuvântul Său și i-a tămăduit*Ps. 30:2;103:3.,

și i-a*Iov 33:28,30.Ps. 30:3;49:15;56:13;103:4. scăpat de groapă.

21 O, de ar lăuda*Vers. 8,15,31. oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui

și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii oamenilor!

22 Să-I*Lev. 7:12.Ps. 50:14;116:17.Evr. 13:15. aducă jertfe de mulțumire

și să*Ps. 9:11;73:28;118:17. vestească lucrările Lui cu strigăte de bucurie.

23 Cei ce se coborâseră pe mare în corăbii

și făceau negoț pe apele cele mari,

24 aceia au văzut lucrările Domnului

și minunile Lui în mijlocul adâncului.

25 El a zis și*Iona 1:4. a pus să sufle furtuna,

care a ridicat valurile mării.

26 Se suiau spre ceruri, se coborau în adânc;

sufletul*Ps. 22:14;119:28.Naum 2:10. le era pierdut în fața primejdiei.

27 Apucați de amețeală, se clătinau ca un om beat

și zadarnică le era toată iscusința.

28 Atunci*Vers. 6,13,19., în strâmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul,

și El i-a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

29 A oprit*Ps. 89:9.Mat. 8:26. furtuna, a adus liniștea

și valurile s-au potolit.

30 Ei s-au bucurat că valurile s-au liniștit

și Domnul i-a dus în limanul dorit.

31 O, de ar lăuda*Vers. 8,15,21. oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui

și pentru minunile Lui față de fiii oamenilor!

32 Să-L înalțe în*Ps. 22:22,25;111:1. adunarea poporului

și să-L laude în adunarea bătrânilor!

33 El preface*1 Împ. 17:1,7. râurile în pustiu

și izvoarele de apă, în pământ uscat,

34 țara*Gen. 13:10;14:3;19:25. roditoare, în țară sărată,

din pricina răutății locuitorilor ei.

35 Tot El preface*Ps. 114:8.Is. 41:18. pustiul în iaz

și pământul uscat, în izvoare de ape.

36 Așază acolo pe cei flămânzi,

și ei întemeiază o cetate ca să locuiască în ea;

37 însămânțează ogoare, sădesc vii

și le culeg roadele.

38 El*Gen. 12:2;17:16,20. îi binecuvântează și se*Exod 1:7. înmulțesc nespus

și nu le împuținează vitele.

39 Dacă sunt împuținați*2 Împ. 10:32. și apăsați prin asuprire,

nenorocire și suferință,

40 El*Iov 12:21,24. varsă disprețul peste cei mari

și-i face să pribegească prin pustiuri fără drum,

41 dar*1 Sam. 2:8.Ps. 113:7,8. ridică pe cel lipsit, izbăvește pe cel nevoiaș

și înmulțește*Ps. 78:52. familiile ca pe niște turme.

42 Oamenii*Iov 22:19.Ps. 52:6;58:10. fără prihană văd lucrul acesta și se bucură,

și orice nelegiuire*Iov 5:16.Ps. 63:11.Prov. 10:11.Rom. 3:19. își închide gura!

43 Cine*Ps. 64:9.Ier. 9:12.Osea 14:9. este înțelept, să ia seama la aceste lucruri

și să fie cu luare aminte la bunătățile Domnului.
