1 Praise ye Jehovah.

Oh give thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good;

For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

2 Who can utter the mighty acts of Jehovah,

Or show forth all his praise?

3 Blessed are they that keep justice,

And he that doeth righteousness at all times.

4 Remember me, O Jehovah, with the favor that thou bearest unto thy people;

Oh visit me with thy salvation,

5 That I may see the prosperity of thy chosen,

That I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation,

That I may glory with thine inheritance.

6 We have sinned with our fathers,

We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt;

They remembered not the multitude of thy lovingkindnesses,

But were rebellious at the sea, even at the Red Sea.

8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake,

That he might make his mighty power to be known.

9 He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it was dried up:

So he led them through the depths, as through a wilderness.

10 And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them,

And redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their adversaries;

There was not one of them left.

12 Then believed they his words;

They sang his praise.

13 They soon forgat his works;

They waited not for his counsel,

14 But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

And tempted God in the desert.

15 And he gave them their request,

But sent leanness into their soul.

16 They envied Moses also in the camp,

And Aaron the saint of Jehovah.

17 The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,

And covered the company of Abiram.

18 And a fire was kindled in their company;

The flame burned up the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb,

And worshipped a molten image.

20 Thus they changed their glory

For the likeness of an ox that eateth grass.

21 They forgat God their Saviour,

Who had done great things in Egypt,

22 Wondrous works in the land of Ham,

And terrible things by the Red Sea.

23 Therefore he said that he would destroy them,

Had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach,

To turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.

24 Yea, they despised the pleasant land,

They believed not his word,

25 But murmured in their tents,

And hearkened not unto the voice of Jehovah.

26 Therefore he sware unto them,

That he would overthrow them in the wilderness,

27 And that he would overthrow their seed among the nations,

And scatter them in the lands.

28 They joined themselves also unto Baal-peor,

And ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 Thus they provoked him to anger with their doings;

And the plague brake in upon them.

30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment;

And so the plague was stayed.

31 And that was reckoned unto him for righteousness,

Unto all generations for evermore.

32 They angered him also at the waters of Meribah,

So that it went ill with Moses for their sakes;

33 Because they were rebellious against his spirit,

And he spake unadvisedly with his lips.

34 They did not destroy the peoples,

As Jehovah commanded them,

35 But mingled themselves with the nations,

And learned their works,

36 And served their idols,

Which became a snare unto them.

37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto demons,

38 And shed innocent blood,

Even the blood of their sons and of their daughters,

Whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan;

And the land was polluted with blood.

39 Thus were they defiled with their works,

And played the harlot in their doings.

40 Therefore was the wrath of Jehovah kindled against his people,

And he abhorred his inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the nations;

And they that hated them ruled over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them,

And they were brought into subjection under their hand.

43 Many times did he deliver them;

But they were rebellious in their counsel,

And were brought low in their iniquity.

44 Nevertheless he regarded their distress,

When he heard their cry:

45 And he remembered for them his covenant,

And repented according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

46 He made them also to be pitied

Of all those that carried them captive.

47 Save us, O Jehovah our God,

And gather us from among the nations,

To give thanks unto thy holy name,

And to triumph in thy praise.

48 Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel,

From everlasting even to everlasting.

And let all the people say, Amen.

Lăudați*1 Cron. 16:34. pe*Ps. 107:1;118:1;136:1. Domnul, căci este bun,

căci îndurarea Lui ține în veci!

2 Cine*Ps. 40:5. va putea spune isprăvile mărețe ale Domnului?

Cine va putea vesti toată lauda Lui?

3 Ferice de cei ce păzesc Legea,

de cei ce înfăptuiesc dreptatea*Ps. 15:2. în orice*Fapte 24:16.Gal. 6:9. vreme!

4 Adu-Ți*Ps. 119:132. aminte de mine, Doamne, în bunăvoința Ta pentru poporul Tău!

Adu-Ți aminte de mine și dă-i ajutorul Tău,

5 ca să văd fericirea aleșilor Tăi,

să mă bucur de bucuria poporului Tău

și să mă laud cu moștenirea Ta!

6 Noi am păcătuit*Lev. 26:40.1 Împ. 8:47.Dan. 9:5. ca și părinții noștri,

am săvârșit nelegiuirea, am făcut rău.

7 Părinții noștri în Egipt n-au luat aminte la minunile Tale,

nu și-au adus aminte de mulțimea îndurărilor Tale și*Exod 14:11,12. au fost neascultători la mare, la Marea Roșie.

8 Dar El i-a scăpat din pricina Numelui*Ezec. 20:14. Lui,

ca*Exod 9:16. să-Și arate puterea.

9 A mustrat*Exod 14:21.Ps. 18:15.Naum 1:4. Marea Roșie, și ea s-a uscat;

și i-a trecut*Is. 63:11-14. prin adâncuri ca printr-un pustiu.

10 I-a scăpat*Exod 14:30. din mâna celui ce-i ura

și i-a izbăvit din mâna vrăjmașului.

11 Apele*Exod 14:27,28;15:5. au acoperit pe potrivnicii lor.

N-a rămas unul măcar din ei.

12 Atunci*Exod 14:31;15:1., ei au crezut în cuvintele Lui și au cântat laudele Lui.

13 Dar au uitat curând*Exod 15:24;16:2;17:2.Ps. 78:18. lucrările Lui

și n-au așteptat împlinirea planurilor Lui,

14 ci*Num. 11:4,33.Ps. 78:18.1 Cor. 10:6. i-a apucat pofta în pustie

și au ispitit pe Dumnezeu în pustietate.

15 El*Num. 11:31.Ps. 78:29. le-a dat ce cereau,

dar a trimis*Is. 10:16. o molimă printre ei.

16 În tabără au fost geloși*Num. 16:1. pe Moise

și pe Aaron, sfântul Domnului.

17 Atunci s-a deschis*Num. 16:31,32.Deut. 11:6. pământul și a înghițit pe Datan

și s-a închis deasupra cetei lui Abiram.

18 Focul*Num. 16:35,46. le-a aprins ceata

și flacăra a mistuit pe cei răi.

19 Au făcut un*Exod 32:4. vițel în Horeb.

S-au închinat înaintea unui chip turnat

20 și au schimbat*Ier. 2:11.Rom. 1:23. Slava lor

pe chipul unui bou, care mănâncă iarbă.

21 Au uitat*Ps. 78:11. pe Dumnezeu, Mântuitorul lor,

care făcuse lucruri mari în Egipt,

22 minuni în țara*Ps. 78:51;105:23,27. lui Ham,

semne minunate la Marea Roșie.

23 Și*Exod 32:10,11,32.Deut. 9:19,25;10:10. El a vorbit să-i nimicească,

dar Moise, alesul Său, a stat*Ezec. 20:13;13:5;22:30. la mijloc înaintea Lui,

ca să-L abată de la mânia Lui și să-L oprească să-i nimicească.

24 Ei au nesocotit țara*Deut. 8:7.Ier. 3:19.Ezec. 20:6. desfătărilor;

n-au*Evr. 3:18. crezut în Cuvântul Domnului,

25 ci*Num. 14:2,27. au cârtit în corturile lor

și n-au ascultat de glasul Lui.

26 Atunci*Num. 14:28.Ps. 95:11.Ezec. 20:15.Evr. 3:11,18., El a ridicat*Exod 6:8.Deut. 32:40. mâna și a jurat

că-i va face să cadă în pustie,

27 că*Lev. 26:33.Ps. 44:11.Ezec. 20:23. le va doborî sămânța printre neamuri

și-i va împrăștia în mijlocul țărilor.

28 Ei*Num. 25:2,3;31:16.Deut. 4:3;32:17.Osea 9:10.Apoc. 2:14. s-au alipit de Baal-Peor

și au mâncat vite jertfite morților.

29 Au mâniat astfel pe Domnul prin faptele lor

și o urgie a izbucnit între ei.

30 Dar*Num. 25:7,8. Fineas s-a sculat și a făcut judecată

și, astfel, urgia s-a oprit.

31 Lucrul acesta i-a fost socotit ca*Num. 25:11-13. o stare de neprihănire

din neam în neam, pe vecie.

32 Ei*Num. 20:3,13.Ps. 81:7. au mâniat pe Domnul la apele Meriba

și*Num. 20:12.Deut. 1:37;3:26. Moise a fost pedepsit din pricina lor.

33 Căci*Num. 20:10. s-au răzvrătit împotriva Duhului Lui,

și Moise a vorbit în chip ușuratic cu buzele.

34 Ei n-au*Jud. 1:21,27-29. nimicit popoarele

pe*Deut. 7:2,16.Jud. 2:2. care le poruncise Domnul să le nimicească,

35 ci*Jud. 2:2;3:5,6.Is. 2:6.1 Cor. 5:6. s-au amestecat cu neamurile

și au învățat faptele lor,

36 au*Jud. 2:12,13,17,19;3:6,7. slujit idolilor lor,

care*Exod 23:33.Deut. 7:16.Jud. 2:3,14,15. au fost o cursă pentru ei.

37 Și-au jertfit*2 Împ. 16:3.Is. 57:5.Ezec. 16:20;20:26. fiii și fiicele la idoli*Lev. 17:7.Deut. 32:17.2 Cron. 11:15.1 Cor. 10:20.,

38 au vărsat sânge nevinovat, sângele fiilor și fiicelor lor,

pe care i-au jertfit idolilor din Canaan,

și țara*Num. 35:33. a fost spurcată astfel prin omoruri.

39 S-au spurcat*Ezec. 20:18,30,31. prin faptele lor,

s-au desfrânat*Lev. 17:7.Num. 15:39.Ezec. 20:30. prin faptele lor.

40 Atunci, Domnul S-a aprins*Jud. 14:1.Ps. 78:59,62. de mânie împotriva poporului Său

și a urât moștenirea*Deut. 9:29. Lui.

41 I-a dat*Jud. 2:14.Neem. 9:27. în mâinile neamurilor,

cei ce îi urau au stăpânit peste ei,

42 vrăjmașii lor i-au asuprit

și au fost smeriți sub puterea lor.

43 El de*Jud. 2:16.Neem. 9:27. mai multe ori i-a izbăvit,

dar ei s-au arătat neascultători în planurile lor

și au ajuns nenorociți prin nelegiuirea lor.

44 Dar El le-a văzut strâmtorarea

când le-a auzit*Jud. 3:9;4:3;6:7;10:10.Neem. 9:27. strigătele.

45 Și-a*Lev. 26:41,42. adus aminte de legământul Său

și a*Jud. 2:18. avut milă de ei după*Ps. 51:1;69:16.Is. 63:7.Plâng. 3:32. bunătatea Lui cea mare:

46 a*Ezra 9:9.Ier. 42:12. stârnit pentru ei mila

tuturor celor ce-i țineau prinși de război.

47 Scapă-ne*1 Cron. 16:35,36., Doamne, Dumnezeul nostru,

și strânge-ne din mijlocul neamurilor,

ca să lăudăm Numele Tău cel sfânt

și să ne fălim cu lauda Ta!

48 Binecuvântat*Ps. 41:13. să fie Domnul Dumnezeul lui Israel,

din veșnicie în veșnicie!

Și tot poporul să zică: „Amin!"
