A Prayer of the afflicted, when he is overwhelmed, and poureth out his complaint before Jehovah.

1 Hear my prayer, O Jehovah,

And let my cry come unto thee.

2 Hide not thy face from me in the day of my distress:

Incline thine ear unto me;

In the day when I call answer me speedily.

3 For my days consume away like smoke,

And my bones are burned as a firebrand.

4 My heart is smitten like grass, and withered;

For I forget to eat my bread.

5 By reason of the voice of my groaning

My bones cleave to my flesh.

6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness;

I am become as an owl of the waste places.

7 I watch, and am become like a sparrow

That is alone upon the house-top.

8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day;

They that are mad against me do curse by me.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,

And mingled my drink with weeping,

10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath:

For thou hast taken me up, and cast me away.

11 My days are like a shadow that declineth;

And I am withered like grass.

12 But thou, O Jehovah, wilt abide for ever;

And thy memorial name unto all generations.

13 Thou wilt arise, and have mercy upon Zion;

For it is time to have pity upon her,

Yea, the set time is come.

14 For thy servants take pleasure in her stones,

And have pity upon her dust.

15 So the nations shall fear the name of Jehovah,

And all the kings of the earth thy glory.

16 For Jehovah hath built up Zion;

He hath appeared in his glory.

17 He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute,

And hath not despised their prayer.

18 This shall be written for the generation to come;

And a people which shall be created shall praise Jehovah.

19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary;

From heaven did Jehovah behold the earth;

20 To hear the sighing of the prisoner;

To loose those that are appointed to death;

21 That men may declare the name of Jehovah in Zion,

And his praise in Jerusalem;

22 When the peoples are gathered together,

And the kingdoms, to serve Jehovah.

23 He weakened my strength in the way;

He shortened my days.

24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:

Thy years are throughout all generations.

25 Of old didst thou lay the foundation of the earth;

And the heavens are the work of thy hands.

26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure;

Yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;

As a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:

27 But thou art the same,

And thy years shall have no end.

28 The children of thy servants shall continue,

And their seed shall be established before thee.

O rugăciune a unui nenorocit,

când este doborât de întristare

și își varsă plângerea înaintea Domnului

1 Doamne, ascultă-mi rugăciunea

și s-ajungă*Exod 2:23.1 Sam. 9:16.Ps. 18:6. strigătul meu până la Tine!

2 Nu-mi*Ps. 27:9;69:17. ascunde Fața Ta în ziua necazului meu!

Pleacă-Ți*Ps. 71:2;88:2. urechea spre mine când strig!

Ascultă-mă degrabă!

3 Căci*Ps. 119:83.Iac. 4:14. zilele mele pier ca fumul

și oasele*Iov 30:30.Ps. 31:10.Plâng. 1:13. îmi ard ca un tăciune.

4 Inima îmi este lovită și mi se usucă*Ps. 37:2. Vers. 11. întocmai ca iarba;

până și pâinea uit să mi-o mănânc.

5 Așa de mari îmi sunt gemetele,

că mi se lipesc oasele*Iov 19:20.Plâng. 4:8. de carne.

6 Semăn*Iov 30:29. cu pelicanul*Is. 34:11.Ţef. 2:14. din pustie,

sunt ca o cucuvea din dărâmături;

7 nu mai pot dormi*Ps. 77:4. și sunt

ca pasărea singuratică*Ps. 38:11. pe un acoperiș.

8 În fiecare zi mă batjocoresc vrăjmașii mei

și potrivnicii mei jură*Fapte 26:11. pe*Fapte 23:12. mine în mânia lor.

9 Mănânc țărână în loc de pâine

și îmi amestec lacrimile cu băutura*Ps. 42:3;80:5.

10 din pricina mâniei și urgiei Tale,

căci Tu m-ai*Ps. 30:7. ridicat și m-ai aruncat departe.

11 Zilele mele sunt ca*Iov 14:2.Ps. 109:23;144:4.Ecl. 6:12. o umbră gata să treacă

și mă usuc ca iarba.

12 Dar*Vers. 4.Is. 40:6-8.Iac. 1:10. Tu, Doamne, Tu împărățești pe vecie

și pomenirea*Vers. 26.Ps. 9:7.Plâng. 5:19. Ta ține din neam în neam.

13 Tu Te vei scula și vei avea milă*Ps. 135:13. de Sion;

căci este vremea*Is. 60:10.Zah. 1:12. să te înduri de el, a venit vremea hotărâtă pentru el.

14 Căci robii Tăi iubesc pietrele*Is. 40:2. Sionului

și le e milă de țărâna lui.

15 Atunci se vor teme*Ps. 79:1. neamurile de Numele Domnului

și toți împărații pământului de slava Ta.

16 Da, Domnul va zidi iarăși Sionul

și Se va arăta în*1 Împ. 8:43.Ps. 138:4.Is. 60:3. slava Sa.

17 El ia aminte la*Is. 60:1,2.Neem. 1:6,11;2:8. rugăciunea nevoiașului

și nu-i nesocotește rugăciunea.

18 Să se scrie*Rom. 15:4.1 Cor. 10:11. lucrul acesta pentru neamul de oameni care va veni,

și poporul*Ps. 22:31.Is. 43:21. care se va naște să laude pe Domnul!

19 Căci El privește*Deut. 26:15.Ps. 14:2;33:13,14. din înălțimea sfințeniei Lui;

Domnul privește din ceruri pe pământ,

20 ca*Ps. 79:11. să audă gemetele prinșilor de război

și să izbăvească pe cei ce sunt pe moarte;

21 pentru ca ei să vestească*Ps. 22:22. în Sion Numele Domnului

și laudele lui în Ierusalim,

22 când se vor strânge toate popoarele

și toate împărățiile ca să slujească Domnului.

23 El mi-a frânt puterea în drum

și mi-a scurtat*Iov 21:21. zilele.

24 Eu zic*Is. 38:10.: „Dumnezeule, nu mă lua la jumătatea zilelor mele,

Tu, ai cărui ani*Ps. 90:2.Hab. 1:12. țin veșnic!"

25 Tu ai întemeiat în*Gen. 1:1;2:1.Evr. 1:10. vechime pământul

și cerurile sunt lucrarea mâinilor Tale.

26 Ele*Is. 34:4;51:6;65:17;66:22.Rom. 8:20.2 Pet. 3:7,10-12. vor pieri, dar Tu*Vers. 12. vei rămâne;

toate se vor învechi ca o haină;

le vei schimba ca pe un veșmânt și se vor schimba.

27 Dar Tu*Mal. 3:6.Evr. 13:8.Iac. 1:17. rămâi Același

și anii Tăi nu se vor sfârși.

28 Fiii*Ps. 69:36. robilor Tăi își vor locui țara

și sămânța lor va rămâne înaintea Ta.
