A Psalm of David.

1 Blessed be Jehovah my rock,

Who teacheth my hands to war,

And my fingers to fight:

2 My lovingkindness, and my fortress,

My high tower, and my deliverer;

My shield, and he in whom I take refuge;

Who subdueth my people under me.

3 Jehovah, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him?

Or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?

4 Man is like to vanity:

His days are as a shadow that passeth away.

5 Bow thy heavens, O Jehovah, and come down:

Touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.

6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them;

Send out thine arrows, and discomfit them.

7 Stretch forth thy hand from above;

Rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters,

Out of the hand of aliens;

8 Whose mouth speaketh deceit,

And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

9 I will sing a new song unto thee, O God:

Upon a psaltery of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.

10 Thou art he that giveth salvation unto kings;

Who rescueth David his servant from the hurtful sword.

11 Rescue me, and deliver me out of the hand of aliens,

Whose mouth speaketh deceit,

And whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

12 When our sons shall be as plants grown up in their youth,

And our daughters as corner-stones hewn after the fashion of a palace;

13 When our garners are full, affording all manner of store,

And our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields;

14 When our oxen are well laden;

When there is no breaking in, and no going forth,

And no outcry in our streets:

15 Happy is the people that is in such a case;

Yea, happy is the people whose God is Jehovah.

1 Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, Stânca mea,

care-mi deprinde*2 Sam. 22:35.Ps. 18:34. mâinile la luptă,

degetele la bătălie,

2 Binefăcătorul*2 Sam. 22:2,3,40,48. meu și Cetățuia mea,

Turnul meu de scăpare și Izbăvitorul meu,

Scutul meu de adăpost,

care-mi supune pe poporul meu!

3 Doamne*Iov 7:17.Ps. 8:4.Evr. 2:6., ce este omul ca să iei cunoștință de el,

fiul omului, ca să iei seama la el?

4 Omul*Iov 4:19;14:2.Ps. 39:5;62:9. este ca o suflare,

zilele*Ps. 102:11. lui sunt ca umbra care trece.

5 Pleacă*Ps. 18:9.Is. 64:1. cerurile, Doamne, și coboară-Te!

Atinge*Ps. 104:32. munții, ca să fumege!

6 Fulgeră*Ps. 18:13,14. și risipește pe vrăjmașii mei!

Aruncă-Ți săgețile și pune-i pe fugă!

7 Întinde-Ți*Ps. 18:16. mâinile de sus,

izbăvește-mă*Vers. 11.Ps. 69:1,2,14. și scapă-mă din apele cele mari,

din mâna fiilor*Ps. 54:3.Mal. 2:11. celui străin,

8 a căror gură spune neadevăruri*Ps. 12:2.

și a căror dreaptă este o dreaptă mincinoasă!

9 Dumnezeule, Îți voi cânta o cântare*Ps. 33:2,3;40:3. nouă,

Te voi lăuda cu alăuta cu zece coarde.

10 Tu, care*Ps. 18:50. dai împăraților biruința,

care ai scăpat de sabie ucigașă pe robul Tău David,

11 izbăvește-mă*Vers. 7,8. și scapă-mă din mâna fiilor celui străin,

a căror gură spune neadevăruri

și a căror dreaptă este o dreaptă mincinoasă!…

12 Fiii noștri sunt ca*Ps. 128:3. niște odrasle, care cresc în tinerețea lor;

fetele noastre, ca niște stâlpi săpați frumos, care fac podoaba caselor împărătești.

13 Grânarele noastre sunt pline și gem de tot felul de merinde;

turmele ni se înmulțesc cu miile, cu zecile de mii, în câmpiile noastre:

14 vițelele noastre sunt prăsitoare;

nu-i nicio pagubă, nicio robie,

niciun țipăt în ulițele noastre!

15 Ferice*Deut. 33:29.Ps. 33:12;65:4;146:5. de poporul care stă astfel!

Ferice de poporul al cărui Dumnezeu este Domnul!
