1 My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter;

I speak the things which I have made touching the king:

My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

2 Thou art fairer than the children of men;

Grace is poured into thy lips:

Therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.

3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one,

Thy glory and thy majesty.

4 And in thy majesty ride on prosperously,

Because of truth and meekness and righteousness:

And thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.

5 Thine arrows are sharp;

The peoples fall under thee;

They are in the heart of the king’s enemies.

6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever:

A sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

7 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness:

Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee

With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia;

Out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.

9 Kings’ daughters are among thy honorable women:

At thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.

10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear;

Forget also thine own people, and thy father’s house:

11 So will the king desire thy beauty;

For he is thy lord; and reverence thou him.

12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift;

The rich among the people shall entreat thy favor.

13 The king’s daughter within the palace is all glorious:

Her clothing is inwrought with gold.

14 She shall be led unto the king in broidered work:

The virgins her companions that follow her

Shall be brought unto thee.

15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be led:

They shall enter into the king’s palace.

16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children,

Whom thou shalt make princes in all the earth.

17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations:

Therefore shall the peoples give thee thanks for ever and ever.

O cântare de dragoste

1 Cuvinte pline de farmec îmi clocotesc în inimă

și zic: „Lucrarea mea de laudă este pentru Împăratul!"

Ca pana unui scriitor iscusit să-mi fie limba!

2 Tu ești cel mai frumos dintre oameni,

harul*Luca 4:22. este turnat pe buzele tale,

de aceea te-a binecuvântat Dumnezeu pe vecie.

3 Războinic viteaz*Is. 9:6., încinge-ți sabia*Is. 49:2.Evr. 4:12.Apoc. 1:16;19:15.

– podoaba și slava,

4 da, slava*Apoc. 6:2. ta! Fii biruitor, suie-te în carul tău de luptă,

apără adevărul, blândețea și neprihănirea,

și dreapta ta să strălucească prin isprăvi minunate!

5 Săgețile tale sunt ascuțite:

sub tine vor cădea popoare

și săgețile tale vor străpunge inima vrăjmașilor împăratului.

6 Scaunul*Ps. 93:2.Evr. 1:8. Tău de domnie, Dumnezeule, este veșnic;

toiagul de domnie al Împărăției Tale este un toiag de dreptate.

7 Tu*Ps. 33:5. iubești neprihănirea și urăști răutatea.

De aceea, Dumnezeule*Is. 61:1., Dumnezeul Tău Te-a uns*1 Împ. 1:39,40.

cu un untdelemn de bucurie*Ps. 21:6. mai

presus decât pe tovarășii Tăi de slujbă.

8 Smirna*Cânt. 1:3., aloea și casia îți umplu de miros plăcut toate veșmintele;

în casele tale împărătești de fildeș, te înveselesc instrumentele cu coarde.

9 Printre preaiubitele tale sunt fete*Cânt. 6:8. de împărați;

împărăteasa*1 Împ. 2:19., mireasa ta, stă la dreapta ta, împodobită cu aur de Ofir.

10 Ascultă, fiică, vezi și pleacă-ți urechea;

uită*Deut. 21:13. pe poporul tău și casa tatălui tău!

11 Și atunci, împăratul îți va pofti frumusețea.

Și fiindcă este domnul*Ps. 95:6.Is. 54:5. tău, adu-i închinăciunile tale!

12 Și fiica Tirului, și cele mai bogate*Ps. 22:29;72:10.Is. 49:23;60:3. din popor vor umbla

cu daruri ca să capete bunăvoința ta.

13 Fata*Apoc. 7:8. împăratului este plină de strălucire înăuntrul casei împărătești;

ea poartă o haină țesută cu aur.

14 Este adusă înaintea împăratului îmbrăcată cu*Cânt. 1:4. haine cusute la gherghef

și urmată de fete, însoțitoarele ei, care sunt aduse la tine.

15 Ele sunt duse în mijlocul bucuriei și veseliei

și intră în casa împăratului.

16 Copiii tăi vor lua locul părinților tăi;

îi*1 Pet. 2:9.Apoc. 1:6;5:10;20:6. vei pune domni în toată țara.

17 Din neam în neam îți voi*Mal. 1:11. pomeni numele:

de aceea în veci de veci te vor lăuda popoarele.
