For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Jehovah, who spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: and he said,

1 I love thee, O Jehovah, my strength.

2 Jehovah is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge;

My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

3 I will call upon Jehovah, who is worthy to be praised:

So shall I be saved from mine enemies.

4 The cords of death compassed me,

And the floods of ungodliness made me afraid.

5 The cords of Sheol were round about me;

The snares of death came upon me.

6 In my distress I called upon Jehovah,

And cried unto my God:

He heard my voice out of his temple,

And my cry before him came into his ears.

7 Then the earth shook and trembled;

The foundations also of the mountains quaked

And were shaken, because he was wroth.

8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils,

And fire out of his mouth devoured:

Coals were kindled by it.

9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down;

And thick darkness was under his feet.

10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly;

Yea, he soared upon the wings of the wind.

11 He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion round about him,

Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.

12 At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed,

Hailstones and coals of fire.

13 Jehovah also thundered in the heavens,

And the Most High uttered his voice,

Hailstones and coals of fire.

14 And he sent out his arrows, and scattered them;

Yea, lightnings manifold, and discomfited them.

15 Then the channels of waters appeared,

And the foundations of the world were laid bare,

At thy rebuke, O Jehovah,

At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.

16 He sent from on high, he took me;

He drew me out of many waters.

17 He delivered me from my strong enemy,

And from them that hated me; for they were too mighty for me.

18 They came upon me in the day of my calamity;

But Jehovah was my stay.

19 He brought me forth also into a large place;

He delivered me, because he delighted in me.

20 Jehovah hath rewarded me according to my righteousness;

According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.

21 For I have kept the ways of Jehovah,

And have not wickedly departed from my God.

22 For all his ordinances were before me,

And I put not away his statutes from me.

23 I was also perfect with him,

And I kept myself from mine iniquity.

24 Therefore hath Jehovah recompensed me according to my righteousness,

According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

25 With the merciful thou wilt show thyself merciful;

With the perfect man thou wilt show thyself perfect;

26 With the pure thou wilt show thyself pure;

And with the perverse thou wilt show thyself froward.

27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people;

But the haughty eyes thou wilt bring down.

28 For thou wilt light my lamp:

Jehovah my God will lighten my darkness.

29 For by thee I run upon a troop;

And by my God do I leap over a wall.

30 As for God, his way is perfect:

The word of Jehovah is tried;

He is a shield unto all them that take refuge in him.

31 For who is God, save Jehovah?

And who is a rock, besides our God,

32 The God that girdeth me with strength,

And maketh my way perfect?

33 He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet:

And setteth me upon my high places.

34 He teacheth my hands to war;

So that mine arms do bend a bow of brass.

35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation;

And thy right hand hath holden me up,

And thy gentleness hath made me great.

36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me,

And my feet have not slipped.

37 I will pursue mine enemies, and overtake them;

Neither will I turn again till they are consumed.

38 I will smite them through, so that they shall not be able to rise:

They shall fall under my feet.

39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle:

Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

40 Thou hast also made mine enemies turn their backs unto me,

That I might cut off them that hate me.

41 They cried, but there was none to save;

Even unto Jehovah, but he answered them not.

42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind;

I did cast them out as the mire of the streets.

43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people;

Thou hast made me the head of the nations:

A people whom I have not known shall serve me.

44 As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me;

The foreigners shall submit themselves unto me.

45 The foreigners shall fade away,

And shall come trembling out of their close places.

46 Jehovah liveth; and blessed be my rock;

And exalted be the God of my salvation,

47 Even the God that executeth vengeance for me,

And subdueth peoples under me.

48 He rescueth me from mine enemies;

Yea, thou liftest me up above them that rise up against me;

Thou deliverest me from the violent man.

49 Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Jehovah, among the nations,

And will sing praises unto thy name.

50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king,

And showeth lovingkindness to his anointed,

To David and to his seed, for evermore.

Un psalm al lui David, robul Domnului.

El a spus Domnului cuvintele cântării acesteia când l-a scăpat Domnul din mâna tuturor vrăjmașilor săi și din mâna lui Saul. El a zis:

1 Te iubesc*Ps. 144:1. din inimă, Doamne, tăria mea!

2 Doamne, Tu ești stânca mea, cetățuia mea, izbăvitorul meu!

Dumnezeule, Tu ești stânca mea în care mă ascund*Evr. 2:13.,

scutul meu, tăria care mă scapă și întăritura mea!

3 Eu strig: „Lăudat să fie Domnul*Ps. 76:4.!"

și sunt izbăvit de vrăjmașii mei.

4 Mă înconjuraseră legăturile morții*Ps. 116:3.

și mă îngroziseră râurile pieirii;

5 mă înfășuraseră legăturile mormântului

și mă prinseseră lațurile morții.

6 Dar, în strâmtorarea mea, am chemat pe Domnul

și am strigat către Dumnezeul meu:

din locașul Lui, El mi-a auzit glasul,

și strigătul meu a ajuns până la El, până la urechile Lui.

7 Atunci s-a zguduit*Fapte 4:31. pământul și s-a cutremurat,

temeliile munților s-au mișcat

și s-au clătinat, pentru că El Se mâniase.

8 Din nările Lui se ridica fum

și un foc mistuitor ieșea din gura Lui:

cărbuni aprinși țâșneau din ea.

9 A plecat*Ps. 144:5. cerurile și S-a coborât:

un nor gros era sub picioarele Lui.

10 Călărea*Ps. 99:1. pe un heruvim și zbura,

venea plutind*Ps. 104:3. pe aripile vântului.

11 Întunericul Și-l făcuse învelitoare,

iar cortul Lui*Ps. 97:2., împrejurul Lui,

erau niște ape întunecoase și nori negri.

12 Din strălucirea*Ps. 97:3. care se răsfrângea înaintea Lui, ieșeau nori

care aruncau grindină și cărbuni de foc.

13 Domnul a tunat în ceruri,

Cel Preaînalt a făcut să-I răsune glasul*Ps. 29:3.

cu grindină și cărbuni de foc.

14 A aruncat*Ios. 10:10.Ps. 144:6.Is. 30:30. săgeți și a risipit pe vrăjmașii mei,

a înmulțit loviturile trăsnetului și i-a pus pe fugă.

15 Atunci s-a văzut albia*Exod 15:8.Ps. 106:9. apelor

și s-au descoperit temeliile lumii,

la mustrarea Ta, Doamne,

la vuietul suflării nărilor Tale.

16 El Și-a întins mâna*Ps. 144:7. de sus, m-a apucat,

m-a scos din apele cele mari;

17 m-a izbăvit de potrivnicul meu cel puternic,

de vrăjmașii mei, care erau mai tari decât mine.

18 Ei năvăliseră deodată peste mine în ziua strâmtorării mele;

dar Domnul a fost sprijinul meu.

19 El m-a scos la loc larg*Ps. 31:8;118:5.

și m-a scăpat, pentru că mă iubește.

20 Domnul mi-a făcut*1 Sam. 24:19. după neprihănirea mea,

mi-a răsplătit după curăția mâinilor mele,

21 căci am păzit căile Domnului

și n-am păcătuit împotriva Dumnezeului meu.

22 Toate poruncile Lui au fost înaintea mea

și nu m-am depărtat de la legile Lui.

23 Am fost fără vină față de El

și m-am păzit de fărădelegea mea.

24 De aceea*1 Sam. 26:23., Domnul mi-a răsplătit după neprihănirea mea, după curăția mâinilor mele înaintea ochilor Lui.

25 Cu cel bun,*1 Împ. 8:32. Tu Te arăți bun,

cu omul neprihănit, Te arăți neprihănit,

26 cu cel curat, Te arăți curat

și, cu cel stricat,*Lev. 26:23,24,27,28.Prov. 3:34. Te porți după stricăciunea lui.

27 Tu mântuiești pe poporul care se smerește

și smerești privirile*Ps. 101:1.Prov. 6:17. trufașe.

28 Da, Tu îmi aprinzi*Iov 18:6. lumina mea.

Domnul Dumnezeul meu îmi luminează întunericul meu.

29 Cu Tine mă năpustesc asupra unei oști înarmate,

cu Dumnezeul meu sar peste un zid întărit.

30 Căile lui Dumnezeu sunt desăvârșite*Deut. 32:4.Dan. 4:37.Apoc. 15:3.,

Cuvântul Domnului este încercat*Ps. 12:6;119:140.Prov. 30:5.:

El este un scut pentru*Ps. 17:7. toți cei ce aleargă la El.

31 Căci*Deut. 32:31,39.1 Sam. 2:2.Ps. 86:8.Is. 45:5. cine este Dumnezeu afară de Domnul

și cine este o stâncă afară de Dumnezeul nostru?

32 Dumnezeu mă încinge*Ps. 91:2. cu putere

și mă povățuiește pe calea cea dreaptă.

33 El îmi face picioarele ca ale cerboaicelor*2 Sam. 2:18.Hab. 3:19.

și mă așază pe înălțimile*Deut. 32:13;33:29. mele*18:33 Cetățuile de pe munți.,

34 El îmi deprinde*Ps. 144:1. mâinile la luptă,

așa că brațele mele întind arcul de aramă.

35 Tu îmi dai scutul mântuirii Tale,

dreapta Ta mă sprijină

și îndurarea Ta mă face mare.

36 Tu lărgești drumul sub pașii mei

și nu-mi alunecă gleznele*Prov. 4:12..

37 Urmăresc pe vrăjmașii mei, îi ajung

și nu mă întorc până nu-i nimicesc.

38 Îi zdrobesc de nu pot să se mai ridice;

ei cad sub picioarele mele.

39 Tu mă încingi cu putere pentru luptă

și răpui pe potrivnicii mei sub picioarele mele.

40 Tu faci pe vrăjmașii mei să dea dosul înaintea mea,

și eu nimicesc pe cei ce mă urăsc.

41 Ei strigă, dar n-are cine să-i scape!

Strigă către Domnul*Iov 27:9;35:12.Prov. 1:28.Is. 1:15.Ier. 11:11;14:12.Ezec. 8:18.Mica 3:4.Zah. 7:13., dar nu le răspunde!

42 Îi pisez ca praful, pe care-l ia vântul,

îi calc în picioare ca noroiul*Zah. 10:5. de pe ulițe.

43 Tu mă scapi*2 Sam. 2:9,10;3:1. din neînțelegerile poporului, mă pui în fruntea*2 Sam. 8. neamurilor;

un popor pe care nu-l cunoșteam*Is. 52:15;55:5. îmi este supus.

44 El ascultă de mine la cea dintâi poruncă,

fiii străinului*Deut. 33:29.Ps. 66:3;81:15. mă lingușesc*Mica 7:17..

45 Fiilor străinului li se înmoaie inima de mine

și ies tremurând din cetățuile lor.

46 Trăiască Domnul și binecuvântată să fie Stânca mea!

Mărit să fie Dumnezeul mântuirii mele,

47 Dumnezeu, răzbunătorul meu,

care îmi supune*Ps. 47:3. popoarele

48 și mă izbăvește de vrăjmașii mei!

Tu mă înalți*Ps. 59:1. mai presus de potrivnicii mei,

mă scapi de omul asupritor.

49 De aceea*Rom. 15:9., Doamne, Te voi lăuda printre neamuri,

voi cânta spre slava Numelui Tău.

50 El dă mari izbăviri*Ps. 144:10. împăratului Său

și dă îndurare unsului Său,

lui David, și seminței lui, pe vecie*2 Sam. 7:13..
