1 O God thou hast cast us off, thou hast broken us down;

Thou hast been angry; oh restore us again.

2 Thou hast made the land to tremble; thou hast rent it:

Heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.

3 Thou hast showed thy people hard things:

Thou hast made us to drink the wine of staggering.

4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee,

That it may be displayed because of the truth. [Selah

5 That thy beloved may be delivered,

Save with thy right hand, and answer us.

6 God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult;

I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;

Ephraim also is the defence of my head;

Judah is my sceptre.

8 Moab is my washpot;

Upon Edom will I cast my shoe:

Philistia, shout thou because of me.

9 Who will bring me into the strong city?

Who hath led me unto Edom?

10 Hast not thou, O God, cast us off?

And thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.

11 Give us help against the adversary;

For vain is the help of man.

12 Through God we shall do valiantly;

For he it is that will tread down our adversaries.

Către mai-marele cântăreților. Se cântă ca și „Crinul mărturiei". O cântare de laudă a lui David spre învățătură.

Făcută când purta război cu sirienii din Mesopotamia și cu sirienii din Țoba și când s-a întors Ioab și a bătut în Valea Sării douăsprezece mii de edomiți

1 Dumnezeule*Ps. 44:9., ne-ai lepădat, ne-ai împrăștiat

și Te-ai mâniat: ridică-ne iarăși!

2 Ai cutremurat pământul, l-ai despicat;

drege-i*2 Cron. 7:14. spărturile, căci se clatină!

3 Ai făcut*Ps. 71:20. pe poporul Tău să treacă prin lucruri grele,

ne-ai adăpat*Is. 51:17,22.Ier. 25:15. cu un vin de amorțire.

4 Ai dat*Ps. 20:5. celor ce se tem de Tine un steag,

ca să-l înalțe spre biruința adevărului. (Oprire)

5 Pentru ca*Ps. 108:6. preaiubiții Tăi să fie izbăviți,

scapă-ne prin dreapta Ta și ascultă-ne!

6 Dumnezeu a zis*Ps. 89:35. în sfințenia Lui: „Voi ieși biruitor,

voi împărți*Ios. 1:6. Sihemul*Gen. 12:6. și voi măsura valea*Ios. 13:27. Sucot.

7 Al Meu este Galaadul, al Meu este Manase,

Efraim*Deut. 33:17. este tăria capului Meu,

iar Iuda*Gen. 49:10., toiagul Meu de cârmuire.

8 Moab*2 Sam. 8:2. este ligheanul în care Mă spăl;

peste*2 Sam. 8:14.Ps. 108:9. Edom Îmi arunc încălțămintea;

țara filistenilor*2 Sam. 8:1. strigă de bucurie din pricina Mea!"

9 Cine mă va duce în cetatea întărită?

Cine mă va duce la Edom?

10 Oare nu Tu, Dumnezeule, care ne-ai lepădat*Vers. 1.Ps. 44:9.Ps. 108:11.

și nu*Ios. 7:12. mai ieși, Dumnezeule, cu oștirile noastre?

11 Dă-ne ajutor, ca să scăpăm din necaz!

Căci ajutorul omului este zadarnic*Ps. 118:8;146:3..

12 Cu Dumnezeu vom face*Num. 24:18.1 Cron. 19:13. isprăvi mari,

și El va zdrobi*Is. 63:3. pe vrăjmașii noștri.
