1 O Jehovah, the God of my salvation,

I have cried day and night before thee.

2 Let my prayer enter into thy presence;

Incline thine ear unto my cry.

3 For my soul is full of troubles,

And my life draweth nigh unto Sheol.

4 I am reckoned with them that go down into the pit;

I am as a man that hath no help,

5 Cast off among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou rememberest no more,

And they are cut off from thy hand.

6 Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit,

In dark places, in the deeps.

7 Thy wrath lieth hard upon me,

And thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. [Selah

8 Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me;

Thou hast made me an abomination unto them:

I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.

9 Mine eye wasteth away by reason of affliction:

I have called daily upon thee, O Jehovah;

I have spread forth my hands unto thee.

10 Wilt thou show wonders to the dead?

Shall they that are deceased arise and praise thee? [Selah

11 Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave?

Or thy faithfulness in Destruction?

12 Shall thy wonders be known in the dark?

And thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

13 But unto thee, O Jehovah, have I cried;

And in the morning shall my prayer come before thee.

14 Jehovah, why castest thou off my soul?

Why hidest thou thy face from me?

15 I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up:

While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

16 Thy fierce wrath is gone over me;

Thy terrors have cut me off.

17 They came round about me like water all the day long;

They compassed me about together.

18 Lover and friend hast thou put far from me,

And mine acquaintance into darkness.

1 Doamne, Dumnezeul*Ps. 27:9;51:14. mântuirii mele!

Zi*Luca 18:7. și noapte strig înaintea Ta!

2 S-ajungă rugăciunea mea înaintea Ta!

Ia aminte la cererile mele,

3 căci mi s-a săturat sufletul de rele

și*Ps. 107:18. mi se apropie viața de Locuința morților.

4 Sunt pus în rândul*Ps. 28:1. celor ce se coboară în groapă,

sunt*Ps. 31:12. ca un om care nu mai are putere.

5 Stau întins printre cei morți

ca cei uciși și culcați în mormânt,

de care nu-Ți mai aduci aminte

și care sunt despărțiți de*Is. 53:8. mâna Ta.

6 M-ai aruncat în groapa cea mai de jos,

în întuneric, în adâncuri.

7 Mânia Ta mă apasă

și mă năpădești cu*Ps. 42:7. toate valurile Tale. (Oprire)

8 Ai îndepărtat*Iov 19:13,19.Ps. 31:11;142:4. de la mine pe toți prietenii mei,

m-ai făcut o pricină de scârbă pentru ei;

sunt închis*Plâng. 3:7. și nu pot să ies.

9 Mi se topesc ochii*Ps. 38:10. de suferință;

în toate zilele Te chem*Ps. 86:3., Doamne,

și-mi întind*Iov 11:13.Ps. 143:6. mâinile spre Tine!

10 Oare*Ps. 6:5;30:9;115:17;118:17.Is. 38:18. pentru morți faci Tu minuni?

Sau se scoală morții să Te laude? (Oprire)

11 Se vorbește de bunătatea Ta în mormânt

și de credincioșia Ta în adânc?

12 Sunt cunoscute*Iov 10:21.Ps. 143:3. minunile Tale în întuneric

și*Ps. 31:12. Vers. 5.Ecl. 8:10;9:5. dreptatea Ta în țara uitării?

13 Doamne, eu Îți cer ajutorul

și*Ps. 5:3;119:147. dimineața rugăciunea mea se înalță la Tine.

14 Pentru ce*Ps. 43:2., Doamne, lepezi sufletul meu?

Pentru ce îmi ascunzi*Iov 13:24.Ps. 13:1. Fața Ta?

15 Din tinerețe, sunt nenorocit și trag să mor,

sunt cuprins*Iov 6:4. de spaimele Tale și nu știu ce să mai fac.

16 Mânia Ta trece peste mine,

spaimele Tale mă nimicesc de tot.

17 Ele mă*Ps. 22:16. înconjoară toată ziua ca niște ape,

mă înfășoară toate deodată.

18 Ai depărtat*Iov 19:13.Ps. 31:11;38:11. de la mine pe prieteni și tovarăși,

și cei de aproape ai mei s-au făcut nevăzuți.
