For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

1 I waited patiently for Jehovah;

And he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay;

And he set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God:

Many shall see it, and fear,

And shall trust in Jehovah.

4 Blessed is the man that maketh Jehovah his trust,

And respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

5 Many, O Jehovah my God, are the wonderful works which thou hast done,

And thy thoughts which are to us-ward:

They cannot be set in order unto thee;

If I would declare and speak of them,

They are more than can be numbered.

6 Sacrifice and offering thou hast no delight in;

Mine ears hast thou opened:

Burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required.

7 Then said I, Lo, I am come;

In the roll of the book it is written of me:

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God;

Yea, thy law is within my heart.

9 I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great assembly;

Lo, I will not refrain my lips,

O Jehovah, thou knowest.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart;

I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation;

I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great assembly.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Jehovah;

Let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about;

Mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;

They are more than the hairs of my head;

And my heart hath failed me.

13 Be pleased, O Jehovah, to deliver me:

Make haste to help me, O Jehovah.

14 Let them be put to shame and confounded together

That seek after my soul to destroy it:

Let them be turned backward and brought to dishonor

That delight in my hurt.

15 Let them be desolate by reason of their shame

That say unto me, Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee:

Let such as love thy salvation say continually,

Jehovah be magnified.

17 But I am poor and needy;

Yet the Lord thinketh upon me:

Thou art my help and my deliverer;

Make no tarrying, O my God.

Un psalm al lui David

1 Îmi pusesem nădejdea*Ps. 27:14;37:7. în Domnul,

și El S-a plecat spre mine, mi-a ascultat strigătele.

2 M-a scos din groapa pieirii, din fundul mocirlei*Ps. 69:2,14.;

mi-a pus*Ps. 27:5. picioarele pe stâncă și mi-a întărit*Ps. 37:23. pașii.

3 Mi-a pus în gură o cântare*Ps. 33:3. nouă, o laudă pentru Dumnezeul nostru.

Mulți*Ps. 52:6. au văzut lucrul acesta, s-au temut

și s-au încrezut în Domnul.

4 Ferice*Ps. 34:8.Ier. 17:7. de omul care își pune încrederea în Domnul

și care nu*Ps. 101:3,7. se îndreaptă spre cei trufași și mincinoși*Ps. 125:5.!

5 Doamne Dumnezeule, multe*Exod 15:11.Iov 5:9;9:10.Ps. 71:15;92:5;139:6,17. sunt minunile și planurile*Is. 55:8. Tale pentru mine:

nimeni nu se poate asemăna cu Tine.

Aș vrea să le vestesc și să le trâmbițez,

dar numărul lor este prea mare ca să le povestesc.

6 Tu nu dorești nici jertfă*1 Sam. 15:22.Ps. 50:8;51:16.Is. 1:11;66:3.Osea 6:6.Mat. 9:13;12:7.Evr. 10:5., nici dar de mâncare,

ci mi-ai străpuns urechile;

nu ceri nici ardere-de-tot, nici jertfă de ispășire.

7 Atunci am zis: „Iată-mă că vin! –

În sulul cărții este scris*Luca 24:44. despre mine. –

8 Vreau*Ps. 119:16,24,47,92.Ioan 4:34.Rom. 7:22. să fac voia Ta, Dumnezeule!

Și Legea Ta este în*Ps. 37:31.Ier. 31:33.2 Cor. 3:3. fundul inimii mele."

9 Vestesc*Ps. 22:22,25;35:18. îndurarea Ta în adunarea cea mare;

iată că nu-mi închid buzele*Ps. 119:13..

Tu*Ps. 139:2. știi lucrul acesta, Doamne!

10 Nu*Fapte 20:20,27. țin în inima mea îndurarea Ta,

ci vestesc adevărul tău și mântuirea Ta

și nu ascund bunătatea și credincioșia Ta în adunarea cea mare.

11 Tu, Doamne, nu-mi vei opri îndurările Tale,

ci bunătatea*Ps. 43:3;57:3;61:7. și credincioșia Ta mă vor păzi totdeauna.

12 Căci rele fără număr mă împresoară,

m-au ajuns*Ps. 38:4. pedepsele pentru nelegiuirile mele și nu le mai pot suferi vederea.

Sunt mai multe decât perii capului meu și mi se înmoaie*Ps. 73:26. inima.

13 Izbăvește-mă*Ps. 70:1., Doamne!

Vino, Doamne, degrabă în ajutorul meu!

14 Să fie rușinați*Ps. 35:4,26;70:2,3;71:13. și înfruntați

toți cei ce vor să-mi ia viața!

Să dea înapoi și să roșească de rușine

cei ce-mi doresc pierzarea!

15 Să*Ps. 70:3. rămână înlemniți de rușinea*Ps. 73:19. lor

cei ce-mi zic: „Ha! Ha!"

16 Să se bucure*Ps. 70:4. și să se veselească în Tine toți cei ce Te caută!

Cei ce iubesc mântuirea Ta să zică*Ps. 35:27. fără încetare:

„Mărit să fie Domnul!"

17 Eu*Ps. 70:5. sunt sărac și lipsit,

dar Domnul*1 Pet. 5:7. Se gândește la mine.

Tu ești ajutorul și izbăvitorul meu:

nu zăbovi, Dumnezeule!
