1 Deliver me, O Jehovah, from the evil man;

Preserve me from the violent man:

2 Who devise mischiefs in their heart;

Continually do they gather themselves together for war.

3 They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent;

Adders’ poison is under their lips. [Selah

4 Keep me, O Jehovah, from the hands of the wicked;

Preserve me from the violent man:

Who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.

5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords;

They have spread a net by the wayside;

They have set gins for me. [Selah

6 I said unto Jehovah, Thou art my God:

Give ear unto the voice of my supplications, O Jehovah.

7 O Jehovah the Lord, the strength of my salvation,

Thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.

8 Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked;

Further not his evil device, lest they exalt themselves. [Selah

9 As for the head of those that compass me about,

Let the mischief of their own lips cover them.

10 Let burning coals fall upon them:

Let them be cast into the fire,

Into deep pits, whence they shall not rise.

11 An evil speaker shall not be established in the earth:

Evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 I know that Jehovah will maintain the cause of the afflicted,

And justice for the needy.

13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name:

The upright shall dwell in thy presence.

Un psalm al lui David

1 Scapă-mă, Doamne, de oamenii cei răi!

Păzește-mă*Vers. 4. de oamenii asupritori,

2 care cugetă lucruri rele în inima lor

și sunt totdeauna*Ps. 56:6. gata să ațâțe războiul!

3 Ei își ascut limba ca un șarpe,

au pe buze o otravă de năpârcă*Ps. 58:4.Rom. 3:13.. (Oprire)

4 Păzește-mă*Ps. 71:4., Doamne, de mâinile celui rău!

Ferește-mă*Vers. 1. de oamenii asupritori,

care se gândesc să mă doboare!

5 Niște*Ps. 35:7;57:6;119:110;141:9.Ier. 18:22. îngâmfați îmi întind curse și lațuri,

pun rețele de-a lungul drumului

și îmi întind capcane. (Oprire)

6 Eu zic Domnului: „Tu ești Dumnezeul meu!

Ia aminte, Doamne, la glasul rugăciunilor mele!

7 Doamne Dumnezeule, tăria mântuirii mele,

Tu-mi acoperi capul în ziua luptei."

8 Nu împlini, Doamne, dorințele celui rău,

nu lăsa să-i izbutească planurile, ca*Deut. 32:27. să nu se fălească! (Oprire)

9 Asupra capului celor ce mă înconjoară

să cadă*Ps. 7:16;94:23.Prov. 12:13;18:7. nelegiuirea buzelor lor!

10 Cărbuni*Ps. 11:6. aprinși să cadă peste ei!

În foc să fie aruncați,

în adâncuri, de unde să nu se mai scoale!

11 Omul cu limba mincinoasă nu se întărește pe pământ

și pe omul asupritor nenorocirea îl paște și-l duce la pierzanie.

12 Știu că Domnul face*1 Împ. 8:45.Ps. 9:4. dreptate celui obijduit,

dreptate celor lipsiți.

13 Da, cei neprihăniți vor lăuda Numele Tău,

oamenii fără prihană vor locui înaintea Ta.
