A Song of Ascents.

1 When Jehovah brought back those that returned to Zion,

We were like unto them that dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter,

And our tongue with singing:

Then said they among the nations,

Jehovah hath done great things for them.

3 Jehovah hath done great things for us,

Whereof we are glad.

4 Turn again our captivity, O Jehovah,

As the streams in the South.

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing seed for sowing,

Shall doubtless come again with joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

O cântare a treptelor

1 Când a adus Domnul înapoi pe prinșii de război ai Sionului, parcă*Fapte 12:9. visam.

2 Atunci, gura*Iov 8:21. ne era plină de strigăte de bucurie

și limba, de cântări de veselie.

Atunci se spunea printre neamuri:

„Domnul a făcut mari lucruri pentru ei!"

3 Da, Domnul a făcut mari lucruri pentru noi

și de aceea suntem plini de bucurie.

4 Doamne, adu înapoi pe prinșii noștri de război

ca pe niște râuri în partea de miazăzi!

5 Cei*Ier. 31:9. ce seamănă cu lacrimi vor secera cu cântări de veselie.

6 Cel ce umblă plângând când aruncă sămânța

se întoarce cu veselie când își strânge snopii.
