1 Whence come wars and whence come fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your pleasures that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and covet, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; ye have not, because ye ask not. 3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may spend it in your pleasures. 4 Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God. 5 Or think ye that the scripture speaketh in vain? Doth the spirit which he made to dwell in us long unto envying? 6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble. 7 Be subject therefore unto God; but resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye doubleminded. 9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall exalt you.

11 Speak not one against another, brethren. He that speaketh against a brother, or judgeth his brother, speaketh against the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judgest the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. 12 One only is the lawgiver and judge, even he who is able to save and to destroy: but who art thou that judgest thy neighbor?

13 Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: 14 whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. 16 But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil. 17 To him therefore that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Nu știți că prietenia*1 Ioan 2:15. lumii este vrăjmășie cu Dumnezeu? Așa că cine*Ioan 15:19;17:14.Gal. 1:10. vrea să fie prieten cu lumea se face vrăjmaș cu Dumnezeu. 5 Credeți că degeaba vorbește Scriptura? Duhul*Gen. 6:5;8:21.Num. 11:29.Prov. 21:10., pe care L-a pus Dumnezeu să locuiască în noi, ne vrea cu gelozie pentru Sine. 6 Dar, în schimb, ne dă un har și mai mare. De aceea zice Scriptura: „Dumnezeu*Iov 22:29.Ps. 138:6.Prov. 3:34;29:23.Mat. 23:12.Luca 1:52;14:11;18:14.1 Pet. 5:5. stă împotriva celor mândri, dar dă har celor smeriți." 7 Supuneți-vă dar lui Dumnezeu. Împotriviți-vă*Efes. 4:27;6:11.1 Pet. 5:9. diavolului, și el va fugi de la voi. 8 Apropiați-vă*2 Cron. 15:2. de Dumnezeu și El Se va apropia de voi. Curățiți-vă*Is. 1:16. mâinile, păcătoșilor; curățiți-vă*1 Pet. 1:22.1 Ioan 3:3. inima, oameni*Cap. 1:8. cu inima împărțită! 9 Simțiți-vă*Mat. 5:4. ticăloșia; tânguiți-vă și plângeți! Râsul vostru să se prefacă în tânguire, și bucuria voastră, în întristare: 10 Smeriți-vă*Iov 22:29.Mat. 13:12.Luca 14:11;18:14.1 Pet. 5:6. înaintea Domnului și El vă va înălța. 11 Nu*Efes. 4:31.1 Pet. 2:1. vă vorbiți de rău unii pe alții, fraților! Cine vorbește de rău pe un frate sau*Mat. 7:1.Luca 6:37.Rom. 2:1.1 Cor. 4:5. judecă pe fratele său vorbește de rău Legea sau judecă Legea. Și, dacă judeci Legea, nu ești împlinitor al Legii, ci judecător. 12 Unul singur este dătătorul și judecătorul Legii: Acela care*Mat. 10:28. are putere să mântuiască și să piardă. Dar tu*Rom. 14:4,13. cine ești de judeci pe aproapele tău? 13 Ascultați*Prov. 27:1.Luca 12:18., acum, voi care ziceți: „Astăzi sau mâine ne vom duce în cutare cetate, vom sta acolo un an, vom face negustorie și vom câștiga" 14 și nu știți ce va aduce ziua de mâine! Căci ce este viața voastră? Nu sunteți decât un abur*Iov 7:7.Ps. 102:3. Cap. 1:10.1 Pet. 1:24.1 Ioan 2:17., care se arată puțintel și apoi piere. 15 Voi, dimpotrivă, ar trebui să ziceți: „Dacă va*Fapte 18:21.1 Cor. 4:19;16:7.Evr. 6:3. vrea Domnul, vom trăi și vom face cutare sau cutare lucru." 16 Pe când acum vă făliți cu lăudăroșiile voastre! Orice*1 Cor. 5:6. laudă de felul acesta este rea. 17 Deci cine*Luca 12:47.Ioan 9:41;15:22.Rom. 1:20,21,32;2:17,18,23. știe să facă bine și nu face săvârșește un păcat!
