1 And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and its towns out of the hand of the Philistines. 2 And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.

3 And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. 4 And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen; and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

5 And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadarezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. 6 Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went. 7 And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. 8 And from Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brazen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

9 And when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah, 10 he sent Hadoram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadarezer and smitten him (for Hadarezer had wars with Tou); and he had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. 11 These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

12 Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah smote of the Edomites in the Valley of Salt eighteen thousand. 13 And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.

14 And David reigned over all Israel; and he executed justice and righteousness unto all his people. 15 And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder; 16 and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Shavsha was scribe; 17 and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were chief about the king.

1 Sau việc ấy, Đa-vít đánh dân Phi-li-tin, bắt phục chúng nó; và đoạt lấy khỏi tay chúng nó thành Gát và các hương thôn nó.

2 Người cũng đánh Mô-áp; dân Mô-áp bèn phục dịch Đa-vít, và tiến cống cho người.

3 Đa-vít đánh Ha-đa-rê-xe, vua Xô-ba, tại Ha-mát, khi người đương đi lập nước mình trên sông Ơ-phơ-rát.

4 Đa-vít chiếm lấy của người một ngàn cỗ xe, bảy ngàn lính kỵ, và hai vạn lính bộ; Đa-vít cắt nhượng của các ngựa kéo xe, duy chừa lại một trăm con.

5 Dân Sy-ri ở Đa-mách đến cứu giúp Ha-đa-rê-xe, vua Xô-ba, Đa-vít bèn giết chúng hai vạn hai ngàn người.

6 Đa-vít lập đồn trong Sy-ri của Đa-mách, dân Sy-ri phục dịch người, và đem nộp thuế cho người. Đa-vít đi đến đâu, thì Đức Giê-hô-va cũng khiến cho người được thắng.

7 Đa-vít đoạt những khiên vàng của các đầy tớ Ha-đa-rê-xe, rồi đem về Giê-ru-sa-lem.

8 Từ Ti-bát và Cun, hai thành của Ha-đa-rê-xe, Đa-vít lại đoạt lấy nhiều đồng, mà Sa-lô-môn dùng làm cái biển đồng, các trụ và chậu bằng đồng.

9 Khi Tô-hu, vua Ha-mát, hay rằng Đa-vít đã đánh cả đội binh của Ha-đa-rê-xe, vua Xô-ba,

10 thì sai Ha-đô-ram, con trai người, đến chào mừng và ngợi khen Đa-vít, bởi người đã chinh chiến với Ha-đa-rê-xe, và đã đánh người; vì Ha-đa-rê-xe và Tô-hu thường đánh giặc với nhau luôn; Tô-hu cũng gởi đến các thứ chậu bằng vàng, bạc, và đồng.

11 Các đồ ấy Đa-vít cũng biệt riêng ra thánh cho Đức Giê-hô-va, luôn với bạc và vàng mà người đã đoạt lấy đem về từ các dân tộc, tức từ Ê-đôm, Mô-áp, dân Am-môn, dân Phi-li-tin, và dân A-ma-léc.

12 Vả lại, A-bi-sai, con trai của Xê-ru-gia, đánh giết tại trong trũng Muối, một vạn tám ngàn người Ê-đôm.

13 Người đặt đồn tại Ê-đôm, và cả dân Ê-đôm đều phải phục dịch Đa-vít. Đa-vít đi đến đâu, thì Đức Giê-hô-va cũng khiến cho người được thắng.

14 Đa-vít làm vua trên cả Y-sơ-ra-ên, lấy sự ngay thẳng và công bình mà xử với dân sự của người.

15 Giô-áp, con trai của Xê-ru-gia, thống lãnh đội binh; Giô-sa-phát con trai của A-hi-lút, làm quan thái sử;

16 Xa-đốc, con trai của A-hi-túp, và A-bi-mê-léc, con trai của A-bia-tha, làm thầy tế lễ; Sa-vê-sa làm quan ký lục.

17 Bê-na-gia, con trai của Giê-hô-gia-đa, cai quản người Kê-rê-thít và người Phê-lê-thít, còn các con trai Đa-vít đều làm quan đại thần gần bên vua.
