1 Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2 And he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Uzziah had done: howbeit he entered not into the temple of Jehovah. And the people did yet corruptly. 3 He built the upper gate of the house of Jehovah, and on the wall of Ophel he built much. 4 Moreover he built cities in the hill-country of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers. 5 He fought also with the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. So much did the children of Ammon render unto him, in the second year also, and in the third. 6 So Jotham became mighty, because he ordered his ways before Jehovah his God. 7 Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, and all his wars, and his ways, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. 8 He was five and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. 9 And Jotham slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Ahaz his son reigned in his stead.

1 Giô-tham được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi người lên ngôi làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem; mẹ người tên là Giê-ru-sa, con gái của Xa-đốc.

2 Người làm điều thiện trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, y theo mọi điều Ô-xia, cha người, đã làm; song người không vào đền thờ của Đức Giê-hô-va; còn dân sự lại càng làm luông tuồng nữa.

3 Người xây cửa trên của đền Đức Giê-hô-va, và xây nhiều trên tường thành Ô-phên.

4 Người cũng xây những thành trong miền núi Giu-đa, và đền đài cùng những tháp ở trên rừng.

5 Người đánh giặc với vua dân Am-môn, và thắng được chúng. Trong năm đó, dân Am-môn nộp cho người một trăm ta lâng bạc một vạn cô-rơ lúa miến, và một vạn cô-rơ lúc mạch. Trong năm thứ nhì và thứ ba, dân Am-môn cũng tiến cống người số ấy.

6 Vậy, Giô-tham trở nên cường thạnh, bởi vì người đi đường chánh đáng trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, là Đức Chúa Trời mình.

7 Các công việc khác của Giô-tham, hết thảy những chiến trận và đường lối của người, đều chép trong sách các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên và Giu-đa.

8 Người được hai mươi lăm tuổi khi lên làm vua, và người cai trị mười sáu năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem.

9 Người an giấc cùng tổ tiên mình, người ta chôn người tại trong thành Đa-vít; đoạn A-cha, con trai người, cai trị thế cho người.
