1 To the angel of the church in Ephesus say: These things says he who has the seven stars in his right hand, who is walking in the middle of the seven gold lights:

2 I have knowledge of your doings, and of your hard work and long waiting, and that you will not put up with evil men, and have put to the test those who say they are Apostles and are not, and have seen that they are false;

3 And you have the power of waiting, and have undergone trouble because of my name, without weariness.

4 But I have this against you, that you are turned away from your first love.

5 So keep in mind where you were at first, and be changed in heart and do the first works; or I will come to you, and will take away your light from its place, if your hearts are not changed.

6 But at least you have the credit of hating the works of the Nicolaitans, as I do.

7 He who has ears, let him give ear to what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give of the fruit of the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.

8 And to the angel of the church in Smyrna say: These things says the first and the last, who was dead and is living:

9 I have knowledge of your troubles and how poor you are (but you have true wealth), and the evil words of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a Synagogue of Satan.

10 Have no fear of the things which you will have to undergo: see, the Evil One will send some of you into prison, so that you may be put to the test; and you will have great trouble for ten days. Be true till death, and I will give you the crown of life.

11 He who has ears, let him give ear to what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes will not come under the power of the second death.

12 And to the angel of the church in Pergamos say: These things says he who has the sharp two-edged sword:

13 I have knowledge that your living-place is where Satan has his seat: and you are true to my name, and were not turned away from your faith in me, even in the days of Antipas, my true witness, who was put to death among you, where Satan has his place.

14 But I have some things against you, because you have with you those who keep the teaching of Balaam, by whose suggestion Balak made the children of Israel go out of the right way, taking food which was offered to false gods, and going after the desires of the flesh.

15 And you have those who keep the teaching of the Nicolaitans.

16 See, then, that you have a change of heart; or I will come to you quickly, and will make war against them with the sword of my mouth.

17 He who has ears, let him give ear to what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give of the secret manna, and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name, of which no one has knowledge but he to whom it is given.

18 And to the angel of the church in Thyatira say: These things says the Son of God, whose eyes are like a flame of fire, and his feet like polished brass:

19 I have knowledge of your works, and your love and faith and help and strength in trouble, and that your last works are more than the first.

20 But I have this against you, that you let the woman Jezebel say she is a prophet and give false teaching, making my servants go after the desires of the flesh and take food offered to false gods.

21 And I gave her time for a change of heart, but she has no mind to give up her unclean ways.

22 See, I will put her into a bed, and those who make themselves unclean with her, into great trouble, if they go on with her works.

23 And I will put her children to death; and all the churches will see that I am he who makes search into the secret thoughts and hearts of men: and I will give to every one of you the reward of your works.

24 But to you I say, to the rest in Thyatira, even to those who have not this teaching, and have no knowledge of the secrets of Satan, as they say; I put on you no other weight.

25 But what you have, keep safe till I come.

26 He who overcomes, and keeps my works to the end, to him I will give rule over the nations,

27 And he will be ruling them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of the potter they will be broken, even as I have power from my Father:

28 And I will give him the morning star.

1 Écris à l'ange de l'Église d'ÉPHÈSE (l’Église Primitive): Voici ce que dit celui qui tient les sept étoiles dans sa droite, qui marche au milieu des sept lampadaires d'or:

2 Je connais tes oeuvres, ton travail, et ta patience; et je sais que tu ne peux supporter les méchants; et tu as éprouvé ceux qui se disent apôtres, et ne le sont point, et tu les a trouvés menteurs.

3 Tu as souffert, tu as eu de la patience, et tu as travaillé pour mon nom, et tu ne t'es point découragé.

4 Mais j'ai contre toi, que tu as abandonné ta première charité.

5 Souviens-toi donc d'où tu es déchu, repens-toi, et fais tes premières oeuvres; sinon je viendrai bientôt à toi, et si tu ne te repens, j'ôterai ton lampadaire de sa place.

6 Toutefois tu as ceci, c'est que tu hais les oeuvres des Nicolaïtes, lesquelles je hais aussi.

7 Que celui qui a des oreilles, écoute ce que l'Esprit dit aux Églises: A celui qui vaincra, je lui donnerai à manger de l'arbre de vie, qui est au milieu du paradis de Dieu.

8 Écris aussi à l'ange de l'Église de SMYRNE (l’Église des Martyrs): Voici ce que dit le Premier et le Dernier, qui a été mort, et qui a repris la vie:

9 Je connais tes oeuvres, et ta tribulation, et ta pauvreté, quoique tu sois riche, et les calomnies de ceux qui se disent Juifs, et ne le sont point, mais qui sont une synagogue adversaire.

10 Ne crains rien des choses que tu auras à souffrir; voici, l’accusateur va jeter en prison quelques-uns de vous, afin que vous soyez éprouvés; et vous aurez une affliction de dix jours. Sois fidèle jusqu'à la mort, et je te donnerai la couronne de vie.

11 Que celui qui a des oreilles, écoute ce que l'Esprit dit aux Églises: Celui qui vaincra, ne souffrira point de la seconde mort.

12 Écris aussi à l'ange de l'Église de PERGAME (l’Église Constantinienne): Voici ce que dit celui qui a l'Épée aiguë à deux tranchants:

13 Je connais tes oeuvres, et le lieu que tu habites, où l’adversaire a son trône; et tu retiens mon nom, et tu n'as point renié ma foi, même aux jours où Antipas, mon fidèle martyr, a été mis à mort au milieu de vous, où l’adversaire habite.

14 Mais j'ai quelque peu de chose contre toi, c'est que tu as là des gens qui tiennent la doctrine de Balaam, qui enseignait à Balak à mettre un scandale devant les enfants d'Israël, pour qu'ils mangent des choses sacrifiées aux idoles, et qu'ils tombent dans la fornication.

15 Pareillement, tu en as, toi aussi, qui tiennent la doctrine des Nicolaïtes; ce que je hais.

16 Repens-toi donc; sinon je viendrai bientôt à toi, et je les combattrai avec l'Épée de ma bouche.

17 Que celui qui a des oreilles, écoute ce que l'Esprit dit aux Églises: A celui qui vaincra, je lui donnerai à manger de la manne cachée; et je lui donnerai un caillou blanc, et sur le caillou sera écrit un nouveau nom, que personne ne connaît que celui qui le reçoit.

18 Écris aussi à l'ange de l'Église de THYATIRE (Église du Moyen Age): Voici ce que dit le Fils de Dieu, qui a les yeux comme une flamme de feu, et les pieds semblables à un cuivre très fin.

19 Je connais tes oeuvres, ta charité, ton ministère, ta foi, et ta patience; et je sais que tes dernières oeuvres surpassent les premières.

20 Mais j'ai quelque peu de chose contre toi, c'est que tu tolères que la femme Jézabel (le Catholicisme), qui se dit prophétesse, enseigne et séduise mes serviteurs, pour les engager dans la perversion, et leur faire manger des choses sacrifiées aux idoles.

21 Et je lui ai donné du temps, afin qu'elle se repentît de sa perversion; et elle ne s'est point repentie.

22 Voici, je vais la jeter sur un lit de douleur; et ceux qui se livrent à l'adultère avec elle, seront dans une grande affliction, s'ils ne se repentent de leurs actions.

23 Et je ferai mourir ses enfants; et toutes les Églises connaîtront que JE SUIS celui qui sonde les reins et les cœurs; et je rendrai à chacun de vous selon ses oeuvres.

24 Mais à vous, et aux autres qui sont à Thyatire, à tous ceux qui ne professent pas cette doctrine, et qui n'ont point connu, comme ils disent, les profondeurs de l’adversaire, je dis: Je ne mettrai point sur vous d'autre charge;

25 Mais tenez ferme seulement ce que vous avez, jusqu'à ce que je vienne.

26 Car à celui qui aura vaincu, et qui pratiquera mes oeuvres jusqu'à la fin, je lui donnerai puissance sur les nations.

27 Il les gouvernera avec un sceptre de fer, et comme on brise des vases d'argile, ainsi que je l'ai moi-même reçu de mon Père.

28 Et je lui donnerai l'étoile du matin.

29 Que celui qui a des oreilles, écoute ce que l'Esprit dit aux Églises.
