1 Further, David and the chiefs of the servants of the holy place made selection of certain of the sons of Asaph and of Heman and of Jeduthun for the work of prophets, to make melody with corded instruments and brass; and the number of the men for the work they had to do was:

2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur and Joseph and Nethaniah and Asharelah, sons of Asaph; under the direction of Asaph, acting as a prophet under the orders of the king;

3 Of Jeduthun: the six sons of Jeduthun, Gedaliah and Zeri and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah and Mattithiah; under the direction of their father Jeduthun who, acting as a prophet, with corded instruments gave praise and glory to the Lord.

4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti and Romamti-ezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, Mahazioth;

5 All these were sons of Heman, the king's seer in the words of God. And to make great his power God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

6 All these, under the direction of their father, made music in the house of the Lord, with brass and corded instruments, for the worship of the house of God; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman being under the orders of the king.

7 And the number of them, with their brothers who were trained and expert in making melody to the Lord, was two hundred and eighty-eight.

8 And selection was made of them for their special work, all having equal chances, small as well as great, the teacher as the learner.

9 Now of the group of Asaph, the first name to come out was Joseph; the second Gedaliah; he and his brothers and sons were twelve?

10 The third Zaccur, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

11 The fourth Izri, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

12 The fifth Nethaniah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

13 The sixth Bukkiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

14 The seventh Jesharelah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

15 The eighth Jeshaiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

16 The ninth Mattaniah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

17 The tenth Shimei, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

18 The eleventh Azarel, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

19 The twelfth Hashabiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

20 The thirteenth Shubael, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

21 The fourteenth Mattithiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

22 The fifteenth Jeremoth, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

23 The sixteenth Hananiah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

24 The seventeenth Joshbekashah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

25 The eighteenth Hanani, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

26 The nineteenth Mallothi, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

27 The twentieth Eliathah, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

28 The twenty-first Hothir, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

29 The twenty-second Giddalti, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

30 The twenty-third Mahazioth, with his sons and his brothers, twelve;

31 The twenty-fourth Romamti-ezer, with his sons and his brothers, twelve.

1 Und David und die Obersten des Heeres sonderten von den Söhnen Asaphs und Hemans und Jeduthuns solche zum Dienste ab, {O. die Söhne... Jeduthuns zum Dienste ab} welche weissagten {d.h. sangen, getrieben durch den Geist Gottes} mit Lauten und Harfen und mit Cymbeln. Und es war ihre Zahl, der Männer, die tätig waren {W. der Männer des Werkes} für ihren Dienst:

2 Von den Söhnen Asaphs: Sakkur und Joseph und Nethanja und Ascharela, die Söhne Asaphs, unter der Leitung Asaphs, welcher nach der Anweisung des Königs weissagte.

3 Von Jeduthun, die Söhne Jeduthuns: Gedalja und Zeri und Jesaja, Haschabja und Mattithja, und Simei, {S. V.17} sechs, unter der Leitung ihres Vaters Jeduthun, mit der Laute, welcher weissagte, um Jehova zu preisen {O. zu danken} und zu loben.

4 Von Heman, die Söhne Hemans: Bukkija und Mattanja, Ussiel, Schebuel und Jerimoth, Hananja, Hanani, Eliatha, Giddalti und Romamti-Eser, Joschbekascha, Mallothi, Hothir, Machasioth.

5 Alle diese waren Söhne Hemans, des Sehers des Königs in den Worten Gottes, um seine Macht zu erheben; {W. das Horn zu erhöhen} und Gott hatte dem Heman vierzehn Söhne und drei Töchter gegeben. -

6 Alle diese waren unter der Leitung ihrer Väter, Asaph und Jeduthun und Heman, beim Gesange im Hause Jehovas, mit Cymbeln, Harfen und Lauten, zum Dienste des Hauses Gottes, nach der Anweisung des Königs.

7 Und es war ihre Zahl mit ihren Brüdern, die im Gesange Jehovas {Eig. dem, oder für Jehova} geübt waren: aller Kundigen 288.

8 Und sie warfen Lose über ihr Amt, der Kleine wie der Große, der Kundige mit dem Lehrling.

9 Und das erste Los kam heraus für Asaph, für Joseph; für Gedalja das zweite: er und seine Brüder und seine Söhne waren zwölf;

10 das dritte für Sakkur: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

11 das vierte für Jizri: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

12 das fünfte für Nathanja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

13 das sechste für Bukkija: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

14 das siebte für Jescharela: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

15 das achte für Jesaja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

16 das neunte für Mattanja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

17 das zehnte für Simei: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

18 das elfte für Asarel: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

19 das zwölfte für Haschabja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

20 das dreizehnte für Schubael: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

21 das vierzehnte für Mattithja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

22 das fünfzehnte für Jeremoth: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

23 das sechzehnte für Hananja: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

24 das siebzehnte für Joschbekascha: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

25 das achtzehnte für Hanani: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

26 das neunzehnte für Mallothi: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

27 das zwanzigste für Eliatha: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

28 das einundzwanzigste für Hothir: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

29 das zweiundzwanzigste für Giddalti: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

30 das dreiundzwanzigste für Machasioth: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf;

31 das vierundzwanzigste für Romamti-Eser: seine Söhne und seine Brüder, zwölf.
