1 Now those who put down their names were Nehemiah the Tirshatha, the son of Hacaliah, and Zedekiah,
2 Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah,
3 Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah,
4 Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,
5 Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah,
6 Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,
7 Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,
8 Maaziah, Bilgai, Shemaiah; these were the priests.
9 And the Levites: by name, Jeshua, the son of Azaniah, Binnui, of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel,
10 And their brothers, Shebaniah, Hodiah, Kelita, Pelaiah, Hanan,
11 Mica, Rehob, Hashabiah,
12 Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,
13 Hodiah, Bani, Beninu.
14 The chiefs of the people: Parosh, Pahath-moab, Elam, Zattu, Bani,
15 Bunni, Azgad, Bebai,
16 Adonijah, Bigvai, Adin,
17 Ater, Hezekiah, Azzur,
18 Hodiah, Hashum, Bezai,
19 Hariph, Anathoth, Nobai,
20 Magpiash, Meshullam, Hezir,
21 Meshezabel, Zadok, Jaddua,
22 Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah,
23 Hoshea, Hananiah, Hasshub,
24 Hallohesh, Pilha, Shobek,

26 And Ahiah, Hanan, Anan,
27 Malluch, Harim, Baanah.
28 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the door-keepers, the music-makers, the Nethinim, and all those who had made themselves separate from the peoples of the lands, to keep the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and wisdom;
29 They were united with their brothers, their rulers, and put themselves under a curse and an oath, to keep their steps in the way of God's law, which was given by Moses, the servant of God, and to keep and do all the orders of the Lord, our Lord, and his decisions and his rules;
30 And that we would not give our daughters to the peoples of the lands, or take their daughters for our sons;
31 And if the peoples of the lands come to do trade in goods or food on the Sabbath day, that we would do no trade with them on the Sabbath or on a holy day: and that in the seventh year we would take no payment from any debtor.
32 And we made rules for ourselves, taxing ourselves a third of a shekel every year for the upkeep of the house of our God;
33 For the holy bread, and for the regular meal offering and the regular burned offering on the Sabbaths and at the new moon and the fixed feasts, and for the sin-offerings to take away the sin of Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
34 And we, the priests and the Levites and the people, made selection, by the decision of the Lord, of those who were to take the wood offering into the house of God, by families at the regular times, year by year, to be burned on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is recorded in the law;
35 And to take the first-fruits of our land, and the first-fruits of every sort of tree, year by year, into the house of the Lord;
36 As well as the first of our sons and of our cattle, as it is recorded in the law, and the first lambs of our herds and of our flocks, which are to be taken to the house of our God, to the priests who are servants in the house of our God:
37 And that we would take the first of our rough meal, and our lifted offerings, and the fruit of every sort of tree, and wine and oil, to the priests, to the rooms of the house of our God; and the tenth of the produce of our land to the Levites; for they, the Levites, take a tenth in all the towns of our ploughed land.
38 And the priest, the son of Aaron, is to be with the Levites, when the Levites take the tenths: and the Levites are to take a tenth of the tenths into the house of our God, to the rooms, into the store-house;
39 For the children of Israel and the children of Levi are to take the lifted offering of the grain and wine and oil into the rooms where the vessels of the holy place are, together with the priests and the door-keepers and the makers of music: and we will not give up caring for the house of our God.

29 Und das übrige Volk, die Priester, die Leviten, die Torhüter, die Sänger, die Nethinim, und alle, welche sich von den Völkern der Länder zu dem Gesetz Gottes abgesondert hatten, ihre Weiber, ihre Söhne und ihre Töchter, alle, die Erkenntnis und Einsicht hatten,
30 schlossen sich ihren Brüdern, den Vornehmen unter ihnen, an und traten in Eid und Schwur, nach dem Gesetz Gottes, welches durch Mose, den Knecht Gottes, gegeben worden ist, zu wandeln und alle Gebote Jehovas, unseres Herrn, und seine Rechte und seine Satzungen zu beobachten und zu tun;
31 und daß wir unsere Töchter den Völkern des Landes nicht geben, noch ihre Töchter für unsere Söhne nehmen wollten;
32 und daß, wenn die Völker des Landes am Sabbathtage Waren und allerlei Getreide zum Verkauf brächten, wir es ihnen am Sabbath oder an einem anderen heiligen Tage nicht abnehmen wollten; und daß wir im siebten Jahre das Land brach liegen lassen und auf das Darlehn einer jeden Hand verzichten wollten. {W. und daß wir das siebte Jahr und das Darlehn einer jeden Hand liegen lassen wollten. 33 Und wir verpflichteten uns dazu, {W. und wir setzten uns Gebote fest} uns den dritten Teil eines Sekels im Jahre für den Dienst des Hauses unseres Gottes aufzuerlegen:
34 für das Schichtbrot und das beständige Speisopfer, und für das beständige Brandopfer und für dasjenige der Sabbathe und der Neumonde, {Vergl. 4. Mose 28,9-15} für die Feste {S. die Anm. zu 3. Mose 23,2} und für die heiligen {O. geheiligten} Dinge und für die Sündopfer, um Sühnung zu tun für Israel, und für alles Werk des Hauses unseres Gottes.
35 Und wir, die Priester, die Leviten und das Volk, warfen Lose über die Holzspende, um sie {Eig. es, d.h. das Holz} zum Hause unseres Gottes zu bringen, nach unseren Vaterhäusern, zu bestimmten Zeiten, Jahr für Jahr, zum Verbrennen auf dem Altar Jehovas, unseres Gottes, wie es in dem Gesetz vorgeschrieben ist.
36 Und wir verpflichteten uns, die Erstlinge unseres Landes und die Erstlinge aller Früchte von allerlei Bäumen Jahr für Jahr zum Hause Jehovas zu bringen,
37 und die Erstgeborenen unserer Söhne und unseres Viehes, wie es in dem Gesetz vorgeschrieben ist; und die Erstgeborenen unserer Rinder und unseres Kleinviehes zum Hause unseres Gottes zu den Priestern zu bringen, welche den Dienst verrichten im Hause unseres Gottes.
38 Und den Erstling unseres Schrotmehls und unsere Hebopfer, und die Früchte von allerlei Bäumen, Most und Öl wollen wir den Priestern bringen in die Zellen des Hauses unseres Gottes; und den Zehnten unseres Landes den Leviten. Denn sie, die Leviten, sind es, welche den Zehnten erheben in allen Städten unseres Ackerbaues;
39 und der Priester, der Sohn Aarons, soll bei den Leviten sein, wenn die Leviten den Zehnten erheben. Und die Leviten sollen den Zehnten vom Zehnten zum Hause unseres Gottes hinaufbringen, in die Zellen des Schatzhauses.
40 Denn in die Zellen sollen die Kinder Israel und die Kinder Levi das Hebopfer vom Getreide, vom Most und Öl bringen; denn dort sind die heiligen Geräte und die Priester, welche den Dienst verrichten, und die Torhüter und die Sänger. Und so wollen wir das Haus unseres Gottes nicht verlassen.
