1 Put the horn to your mouth. He comes like an eagle against the house of the Lord; because they have gone against my agreement, they have not kept my law.2 They will send up to me a cry for help: We, Israel, have knowledge of you, O God of Israel.3 Israel has given up what is good; his haters will go after him.4 They have put up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, but I had no knowledge of it; they have made images of silver and gold, so that they may be cut off.5 I will have nothing to do with your young ox, O Samaria; my wrath is burning against them; how long will it be before the children of Israel make themselves clean?6 The workman made it, it is no god; the ox of Samaria will be broken into bits.7 For they have been planting the wind, and their fruit will be the storm; his grain has no stem, it will give no meal, and if it does, a strange nation will take it.8 Israel has come to destruction; now they are among the nations like a cup in which there is no pleasure.9 For they have gone up to Assyria like an ass going by himself; Ephraim has given money to get lovers.10 But though they give money to the nations for help, still I will send them in all directions; and in a short time they will be without a king and rulers.11 Because Ephraim has been increasing altars for sin, altars have become a cause of sin to him.12 Though I put my law in writing for him in ten thousand rules, they are to him as a strange thing.13 He gives the offerings of his lovers, and takes the flesh for food; but the Lord has no pleasure in them; now he will keep in mind their evil-doing and give them the punishment of their sins; they will go back to Egypt.14 For Israel has no memory of his Maker, and has put up the houses of kings; and Judah has made great the number of his walled towns. But I will send a fire on his towns and put an end to his great houses.

1 [Crie comme si tu avais] une trompette en ta bouche. [Il vient] comme un aigle contre la Maison de l'Eternel; parce qu'ils ont transgressé mon alliance, et qu'ils ont agi méchamment contre ma Loi.2 Ils crieront à moi : Mon Dieu! nous t'avons connu, [dira] Israël.3 Israël a rejeté le bien; l'ennemi le poursuivra.4 Ils ont fait régner, mais non pas de ma part; ils ont établi des Gouverneurs, et je n'en ai rien su; ils se sont fait des dieux de leur or et de leur argent; c'est pourquoi ils seront retranchés.5 Samarie, ton veau t'a chassée loin; ma colère s'est embrasée contre eux; jusqu'à quand ne pourront-ils point [s'adonner] à l'innocence?6 Car il est aussi d'Israël, l'orfèvre l'a fait, et il n'est point Dieu; c'est pourquoi le veau de Samarie sera mis en pièces.7 Parce qu'ils sèment le vent ils recueilleront le tourbillon; et il n'[y aura] point de blé debout; le grain ne fera point de farine, et s'il en fait, les étrangers la dévoreront.8 Israël est dévoré; il est maintenant entre les nations comme un vaisseau dont on ne se soucie point.9 Car ils sont montés vers le Roi d'Assyrie qui est un âne sauvage, se tenant seul à part; Ephraïm a donné des gages à ceux qu'il aimait.10 Et parce qu'ils ont donné des gages aux nations, je les assemblerai maintenant; on y a même commencé quelque peu, à cause de l'impôt [pour] le Roi des Princes.11 Parce qu'Ephraïm a fait plusieurs autels pour pécher, ils auront des autels pour pécher.12 Je lui ai écrit les grandes choses de ma Loi, [mais] elles sont estimées comme des lois étrangères.13 Quant aux sacrifices qui me sont offerts, ils sacrifient de la chair, et la mangent; [mais] l'Eternel ne les accepte point, et maintenant il se souviendra de leur iniquité, et punira leurs péchés; ils retourneront en Egypte.14 Israël a mis en oubli celui qui l'a fait, et il a bâti des palais; et Juda a fait plusieurs villes fortes; c'est pourquoi j'enverrai le feu dans les villes de celui ci, quand il aura dévoré les palais de celui-là.
