1 Then again lifting up my eyes I saw a roll in flight through the air.2 And he said to me, What do you see? And I said, A roll going through the air; it is twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.3 Then he said to me, This is the curse which goes out over the face of all the land: for long enough has every thief gone without punishment, and long enough has every taker of false oaths gone without punishment.4 And I will send it out, says the Lord of armies, and it will go into the house of the thief and into the house of him who takes a false oath by my name: and it will be in his house, causing its complete destruction, with its woodwork and its stones.5 And the angel who was talking to me went out and said to me, Let your eyes be lifted up now, and see the ephah which is going out.6 And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an ephah which is going out. And he said further, This is their evil-doing in all the land.7 And I saw a round cover of lead lifted up; and a woman was seated in the middle of the ephah.8 And he said, This is Sin; and pushing her down into the ephah, he put the weight of lead on the mouth of it.9 And lifting up my eyes I saw two women coming out, and the wind was in their wings; and they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they took the ephah, lifting it up between earth and heaven.10 And I said to the angel who was talking to me, Where are they taking the ephah?11 And he said to me, To make a house for her in the land of Shinar: and they will make a place ready, and put her there in the place which is hers.

1 Puis je me retournai, et levai mes yeux pour regarder; et voici un rouleau volant.2 Alors il me dit : Que vois-tu? Et je répondis : Je vois un rouleau volant, dont la longueur est de vingt coudées, et sa largeur de dix coudées.3 Et il me dit : C'est là l'exécration du serment qui sort sur le dessus de toute la terre; car quiconque d'entre ce [peuple-ci] dérobe, sera puni comme elle; et quiconque d'entre ce [peuple]-ci jure, sera puni comme elle.4 Je déploierai cette exécration, dit l'Eternel des armées, et elle entrera dans la maison du larron, et dans la maison de celui qui jure [faussement] par mon Nom, et elle logera au milieu de leur maison, et la consumera avec son bois et ses pierres.5 Et l'Ange qui parlait avec moi sortit, et me dit : Lève maintenant tes yeux, et regarde ce qui sort.6 Et je dis : Qu'est-ce? Et il [répondit] : C'est un Epha qui sort dehors. Puis il dit : C'est l'œil que j'ai sur eux par toute la terre.7 Et voici, on portait une masse de plomb, et une femme était assise au milieu de l'Epha.8 Et il dit : C'est là la méchanceté; puis il la jeta au milieu de l'Epha, et mit la masse de plomb sur son ouverture.9 Puis levant mes yeux, je regardai, et voici deux femmes qui sortaient, et le vent soufflait dans leurs ailes; or elles avaient des ailes comme les ailes d'une cigogne; et elles enlevèrent l'Epha entre la terre et les cieux.10 Et je dis à l'Ange qui parlait avec moi : Où emportent-elles l'Epha?11 Et il me répondit : C'est pour lui bâtir une maison au pays de Sinhar laquelle étant établie, il sera là posé sur sa base.
