1 På sitt eget hus bygget Salomo i tretten år før han blev ferdig med hele huset. 2 Han bygget Libanon-skoghuset, hundre alen langt og femti alen bredt og tretti alen høit, på fire rader sederstolper og med sederbjelker ovenpå stolpene.

3 Det var tekket med sedertre ovenover de sidekammer som hvilte på stolpene, og som var fem og firti i tallet, femten i hver rad. 4 Der var tre rader bjelkelag og vindu mot vindu i tre høider. 5 Alle dørene og dørstolpene var firkantede, av bjelker, og vendte like mot vindusrekken, i alle tre høider. 6 Så gjorde han søilehallen, femti alen lang og tretti alen bred; og foran den var det en forhall med søiler, og foran den igjen var det en trappeopgang.

7 Så gjorde han tronhallen hvor han satt og dømte, domshallen; den var klædd med sedertre fra den ene ende av gulvet til den andre.

8 Hans eget hus, det som han bodde i, og som lå i den andre gård innenfor forhallen, var bygget på samme vis. Også for Faraos datter, som han hadde tatt til ekte, bygget Salomo et hus som var likt denne forhall.

9 Alt dette var av kostbare stener, tilhugget efter mål og skåret med sag innentil og utentil, like fra grunnen og op til murkanten og utenfra til den store gård. 10 Grunnvollen var lagt med kostbare og store stener, stener på ti alen og stener på åtte alen. 11 Og ovenpå der var det kostbare stener, hugget efter mål, og sedertre. 12 Rundt omkring den store gård var det tre lag huggen sten og ett lag sederbjelker, likesom det var med den indre forgård til Herrens hus og med husets forhall.

13 Kong Salomo sendte bud efter Hiram fra Tyrus.

14 Han var sønn av en enke av Naftali stamme, og hans far var en mann fra Tyrus, en kobbersmed. Han var fylt med visdom og forstand og kunnskap, så han kunde gjøre alle slags arbeid i kobber. Han kom da til kong Salomo og gjorde alt det arbeid han vilde ha gjort. 15 Han gjorde de to kobbersøiler; den ene søile var atten alen høi, og en tråd på tolv alen nådde omkring den andre søile. {den var tolv alen i omfang} 16 Og han gjorde to søilehoder støpt av kobber til å sette på toppen av søilene; hvert søilehode var fem alen høit. 17 På søilehodene som var på toppen av søilene, var det nettverk, flettet arbeid, snorer laget som kjeder(-)syv på hvert søilehode. 18 Og han gjorde to rader med granatepler rundt omkring ved det ene av de nettverk som skulde dekke søilehodene på toppen av søilene, og således gjorde han også med det andre søilehode. 19 Og søilehodene på toppen av søilene var gjort som liljer, likesom i forhallen, og målte fire alen. 20 På begge søilene var det søilehoder, også ovenover tett ved den utbukning som var på den andre side av nettverket, og granateplene var to hundre i tallet og hang i rader rundt omkring på det andre søilehode. 21 Så reiste han søilene ved templets forhall; den søile han satte på høire side, kalte han Jakin, {de. han (Gud) skal gjøre fast} og den som han satte på venstre side, kalte han Boas, {de. i ham er det (templet) sterkt} 22 På toppen av søilene var det liljeformet arbeid. Så var arbeidet med søilene ferdig. 23 Så gjorde han det støpte hav; det var ti alen fra den ene rand til den andre og var aldeles rundt; det nådde fem alen i høiden, og en snor på tretti alen nådde rundt om det.

24 Nedenfor dets rand var det kolokvinter rundt omkring; de gikk rundt omkring havet, ti på hver alen; det var to rader med kolokvinter, og de var støpt i ett med havet. 25 Havet stod på tolv okser; tre vendte mot nord, tre vendte mot vest, tre vendte mot syd, og tre vendte mot øst; havet hvilte på dem, og deres bakkropper vendte alle innefter. 26 Kummens tykkelse var en håndsbredd, og dens rand var som randen på et beger, lik en liljeblomst; den rummet to tusen bat. 27 Så gjorde han de ti fotstykker av kobber; hvert fotstykke var fire alen langt, fire alen bredt og tre alen høit.

28 Og fotstykkene var gjort således: Det var fyllinger på dem(-)fyllinger mellem kantlistene; 29 og på fyllingene mellem kantlistene var det løver, okser og kjeruber, og ovenover kantlistene var det et underlag, {nemlig til å sette karene i} og nedenunder løvene og oksene var det nedhengende løvverk. 30 Hvert fotstykke hadde fire hjul av kobber og aksler av kobber, og dets fire føtter hadde bærearmer; de var støpt på nedenunder karet; på hvert av dem var det løvverk på den andre side. 31 Og åpningen på det {karet.} var innenfor kransen og opefter en alen høi, og dens {kransens.} åpning var rund, gjort som et underlag, halvannen alen, {nemlig i gjennemsnitt} og også på dens åpning var det billedverk, men sidefyllingene var firkantede, ikke runde. 32 De fire hjul satt under fyllingene, og hjultappene satt på fotstykket, og hvert hjul var halvannen alen høit. 33 Hjulene var gjort som vognhjul; tappene og ringene og ekene og navene på dem(-)det var alt sammen støpt. 34 Det var fire bærearmer på de fire hjørner av hvert fotstykke; bærearmene var i ett med fotstykket. 35 ¥verst på fotstykket var det en halv alens forhøining, aldeles rund, og oventil på fotstykket satt håndtakene og fyllingene, som var i ett med det. 36 Og på flatene av håndtakene og på fyllingene skar han ut kjeruber, løver og palmer, efter som det var rum til på hver av dem, og løvverk rundt omkring. 37 Således gjorde han de ti fotstykker; de var alle støpt på samme vis og hadde samme mål og samme form. 38 Så gjorde han ti kobberkar; hvert kar rummet firti bat og var fire alen i tverrmål; det var ett kar på hvert av de ti fotstykker.

39 Og han satte fem av fotstykkene på høire side av huset og fem på venstre side, og havet satte han på høire side av huset, mot sydøst. 40 Hiram gjorde askebøttene og ildskuffene og skålene til å sprenge blod med. Så var Hiram ferdig med alt det arbeid han gjorde for kong Salomo til Herrens hus; det var:

41 to søiler og to skåler på søilehodene på toppen av søilene, og de to nettverk til å dekke de to skåler på søilehodene på toppen av søilene, 42 og de fire hundre granatepler til de to nettverk(-)to rader granatepler til hvert nettverk(-)til å dekke de to skåler på søilehodene som var ovenpå søilene, 43 og de ti fotstykker og de ti kar på fotstykkene, 44 og havet og de tolv okser under havet, 45 og askebøttene og ildskuffene og skålene til å sprenge blod med. Alle disse ting som Hiram gjorde for kong Salomo til Herrens hus, var av blankt kobber. 46 Det var på Jordan-sletten kongen lot dem støpe, i lerjorden mellem Sukkot og Sartan. 47 Salomo lot alle disse ting være uveid, fordi de var så overvettes mange; kobberets vekt blev ikke undersøkt.

48 Salomo gjorde også alle de ting som skulde være i Herrens hus: gullalteret og gullbordet som skuebrødene skulde ligge på,

49 og lysestakene, fem på høire og fem på venstre side(-)foran koret(-)av fint gull, og blomstene på dem og lampene og lysesaksene av gull, 50 og fatene og knivene og skålene til å sprenge blod med og røkelse-skålene og fyrfatene av fint gull, og hengslene til dørene i det innerste rum i huset(-)det Allerhelligste(-)og til dørene i det forreste rum i huset(-)det Hellige(-)av gull. 51 Da nu alt det arbeid var ferdig som kong Salomo lot gjøre for Herrens hus, lot han bære inn der de ting som hans far David hadde helliget til Herren: sølvet og gullet og karene; han la det ned i skattkammerne i Herrens hus.

8 And his house where he dwelt had another court within the porch, which was of the like work. Solomon made also an house for Pharaoh’s daughter, whom he had taken to wife, like unto this porch. 9 All these were of costly stones, according to the measures of hewed stones, sawed with saws, within and without, even from the foundation unto the coping, and so on the outside toward the great court. 10 And the foundation was of costly stones, even great stones, stones of ten cubits, and stones of eight cubits. 11 And above were costly stones, after the measures of hewed stones, and cedars. 12 And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house.

13 And king Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre.*7.13 Hiram: also called, Huram 14 He was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to king Solomon, and wrought all his work.*7.14 a widow’s…: Heb. the son of a widow woman 15 For he cast two pillars of brass, of eighteen cubits high apiece: and a line of twelve cubits did compass either of them about.*7.15 cast: Heb. fashioned 16 And he made two chapiters of molten brass, to set upon the tops of the pillars: the height of the one chapiter was five cubits, and the height of the other chapiter was five cubits: 17 And nets of checker work, and wreaths of chain work, for the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars; seven for the one chapiter, and seven for the other chapiter. 18 And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other chapiter. 19 And the chapiters that were upon the top of the pillars were of lily work in the porch, four cubits. 20 And the chapiters upon the two pillars had pomegranates also above, over against the belly which was by the network: and the pomegranates were two hundred in rows round about upon the other chapiter. 21 And he set up the pillars in the porch of the temple: and he set up the right pillar, and called the name thereof Jachin: and he set up the left pillar, and called the name thereof Boaz.*7.21 Jachin: that is, He shall establish*7.21 Boaz: that is, In it is strength 22 And upon the top of the pillars was lily work: so was the work of the pillars finished.

23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.*7.23 from…: Heb. from his brim to his brim 24 And under the brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast. 25 It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward. 26 And it was an hand breadth thick, and the brim thereof was wrought like the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies: it contained two thousand baths.

27 And he made ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits the breadth thereof, and three cubits the height of it. 28 And the work of the bases was on this manner: they had borders, and the borders were between the ledges: 29 And on the borders that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubims: and upon the ledges there was a base above: and beneath the lions and oxen were certain additions made of thin work. 30 And every base had four brasen wheels, and plates of brass: and the four corners thereof had undersetters: under the laver were undersetters molten, at the side of every addition. 31 And the mouth of it within the chapiter and above was a cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders, foursquare, not round. 32 And under the borders were four wheels; and the axletrees of the wheels were joined to the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.*7.32 joined…: Heb. in the base 33 And the work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axletrees, and their naves, and their felloes, and their spokes, were all molten. 34 And there were four undersetters to the four corners of one base: and the undersetters were of the very base itself. 35 And in the top of the base was there a round compass of half a cubit high: and on the top of the base the ledges thereof and the borders thereof were of the same. 36 For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.*7.36 proportion: Heb. nakedness 37 After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.

38 Then made he ten lavers of brass: one laver contained forty baths: and every laver was four cubits: and upon every one of the ten bases one laver. 39 And he put five bases on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward over against the south.*7.39 side: Heb. shoulder

40 And Hiram made the lavers, and the shovels, and the basons. So Hiram made an end of doing all the work that he made king Solomon for the house of the LORD:*7.40 And Hiram: Heb. 48 And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the house of the LORD: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread was, 49 And the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold, 50 And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple.*7.50 censers: Heb. ash pans 51 So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the LORD.
