And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the trivial cases? 3 Don’t you know that we will judge angels — how much more matters of this life? 4 So if you have such matters, do you appoint as your judges those who have no standing  * 6:4 Lk 18:9 in the church? 5 I say this to your shame!  * 6:5 1Co 4:14 Can it be that there is not one wise person among you who is able to arbitrate between fellow believers?  * 6:5 Ac 9:306 Instead, brother goes to court against brother, and that before unbelievers!  * 6:6 Lk 12:46

7 As it is, to have legal disputes against one another is already a defeat for you.  * 6:7 Rm 11:12 Why not rather be wronged?  * 6:7 Rv 2:11 Why not rather be cheated?  * 6:7 Mk 10:198 Instead, you yourselves do wrong and cheat — and you do this to brothers and sisters! 9 Don’t you know that the unrighteous  * 6:9 Lk 16:10 will not inherit God’s kingdom?  * 6:9 Mk 1:15; Ac 20:25 Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters,  * 6:9 Eph 5:5 adulterers,  * 6:9 Lk 18:11 or males who have sex with males,  * 6:9 Both passive and active participants in homosexual acts,* 6:9 Gn 19:510 no thieves,  * 6:10 Jn 10:1 greedy  * 6:10 Eph 5:5 people, drunkards, verbally abusive people,  * 6:10 1Co 5:11 or swindlers  * 6:10 Lk 18:11 will inherit God’s kingdom. 11 And some of you used to be like this.  * 6:11 Eph 2:2–3; 4:22; 5:8; Ti 3:3 But you were washed, you were sanctified,  * 6:11 Lk 11:2 you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

12 "Everything is permissible  * 6:12 Jn 18:31 for me," but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me," but I will not be mastered by anything. 13 "Food  * 6:13 1Tm 6:8 is for the stomach and the stomach for food," and God will do away with both of them. However, the body is not for sexual immorality  * 6:13 1Th 4:3 but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 God raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.  * 6:14 Mk 5:30; Lk 1:35; 6:19; Ac 19:11; 2Co 13:4; Rv 11:1715 Don’t you know that your bodies are a part of Christ’s body?  * 6:15 Rm 12:5; 1Co 12:27; Eph 5:30 So should I take a part of Christ’s body and make it part of a prostitute? Absolutely not! 16 Don’t you know that anyone joined to a prostitute is one body with her? For Scripture says, The two will become one flesh.* 6:16 Gn 2:24,* 6:16 Gn 2:2417 But anyone joined  * 6:17 Jn 11:52 to the Lord is one spirit  * 6:17 Ps 51:12 with him.

18 Flee  * 6:18 Jms 4:7 sexual immorality! Every other sin  * 6:18 Lit Every sin a person commits is outside the body, but the person who is sexually immoral  * 6:18 1Co 10:8 sins against his own body. 19 Don’t you know that your body is a temple  * 6:19 Lk 1:21 of the Holy Spirit  * 6:19 Rm 8:9,23; 1Co 7:40; 2Co 4:13; Jd 19 who is in you,  * 6:19 Jms 4:5; 1Jn 4:4 whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought  * 6:20 2Pt 2:1 at a price. So glorify God with your body.  * 6:20 Other mss add and in your spirit, which belong to God.
