A Warning about the World

15 Do not love the world  * 2:15 Jn 15:19; 17:16; Rm 12:2; Jms 1:27; 4:4 or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For everything in the world — the lust of the flesh,  * 2:16 Rm 13:14; Eph 2:3; 1Pt 4:2; 2Pt 2:18 the lust of the eyes,  * 2:16 Gn 3:6; Pr 27:20 and the pride  * 2:16 Jms 4:16 in one’s possessions — is not from the Father, but is from the world.
